Deadliest Warrior!

So, One of my favorite TV shows is "Deadliest Warrior"
Where they take two Warrior/fighters anywhere throughout time
And test their weapons, armor, fighting style, everything
and do some crazy science stuff and reenact the fight to see who would really win.

Every week during the season,
my friends and I take bets on the fight and have a lot of fun discussing it.
[[We're strange like that..]]

So, If you watch it, What would you say has been the best fight?
The biggest upset?
And then who is your favorite Warrior?

I loved Deadliest Warrior! My mother, older sister, her bf, my older brother, his gf, me and my bf all gather every tuesday at my house to watch it. ^.^

There have been so many fights I've argued against. Alexander the Great vs. Attila the Hun, Alexander would never have brought the balista. He was a strategy genius. He studied his opponent, and would never have made that mistake.

The Celt vs. the Persian Immortal. That was rigged. The fierce tatic of the Celt alone would've at least given it more of a brutal chance. May have lost yes, but would've fought much longer.

My favorite fight was William Walace vs. Zulu. That one was beautiful. I'm part scottish, so that plays into my heritage, and I love Walace ^.^ I was soo happy he won!

Don't worry. Before the show starts we all say who we're routing for, then halfway through change our favorite ^.^'

I really love the parts where they test the weapons. It's really interesting to just see the stuff. But really, it's really poorly made if they think it's balanced. My example was the green berets vs. Spetznas. They put the American grenade in a tiny room with three people and were like "WHOA! It killed them ALL!" and then they tested the Russian grenade by putting it in a washing machine in an open desert next to a couple people and when it didn't utterly destroy them they were like "Hmm, looks like the American grenade was better." =|
I have to say, I've seen very few episodes, but this problem seems to be fairly consistent. I mean, when they tested the Yakuza swords they were like "Well, one stab won't kill you" and they were amazed that a gangster with a baseball bat could crush your skull, so they gave it to the gangsters, but really, a baseball bat is really not the most easily used weapon in a straight up fight, and what Yakuza boyo would stab someone once? And they never once counted the fact that the Yakuza is almost a trained private army while the New York mobsters are a bunch of tough thugs.
And lastly Spartans vs. Ninjas. Who the hell thought of that? I mean, if we run on the assumption that they were in the same place, okay. But they would never have an actual fight. I mean, ninjas would sneak in and just kill Spartans at night, because they're an assassin force, whereas the Spartans were the epitome of actual war soldiers. I mean, Spartans didn't train to sneak around undetected and that sort of thing, they were trained as a single unit for the battlefield. The pairing seriously just makes no fucking sense.

Codette 06-22-2010 04:55 PM

Exactly Hermes. The pairings don't make sense, except for the new season they're a bit better... They're more consistant in time frames of each fighter being around, although still a lot of, 'there is no way they could ever meet.' *eye roll*

Hermes 06-22-2010 06:38 PM

I don't mind that. Like, stuff like Yakuza vs. Italian Mobsters was good. I don't know if they'd ever meet, but that doesn't matter. What matters is they're similar. Soldier vs. soldier makes sense. I don't really know much about William Wallace, but him vs. Persian Immortal makes sense to me since they're both straight up warriors. Just, Spartans are soldiers, ninjas aren't. It doesn't make sense.

I kind of got mad about the pirates vs. knights one too. They gave mid range to the pirate blunderbuss because it would kill a knight in one shot, but they didn't give a shit about the fact that it only went off about 1/3 of the time, according to their test. So two out of three knights would win. D:

Codette 06-23-2010 02:40 PM

William Walace vs Zulu. It was the Celt vs. Persian Immortal.

yeah the Pirate vs Knight was awful! Plus the pirate only had 2 pistols and the blunderbuss, but he took 4 pistol shots.

Last night was KGB vs. CIA, and that was great! I hated the fact that the CIA won, when the KGB was much more ruthless and cared less for protocols.

I know! I was shocked kind of when the suitcase gun got the advantage. I know it gets multiple shots, but it seems like it would be A LOT harder to aim then the camera gun. I mean, The camera gun: You have the gun out in public, can look through it and aim it perfectly, and almost never miss your shot. When the suitcase gun your kind of guessing where to shoot.

But non-the-less: They were both Awesome! Both spies really impressed me. I was happy. Lol

The Celt and Persian: Yes, I completely agree. There is no way the Celt would have been taken down that easy. Or miss as much as he did in the fight. And what really got me, was by How much he lost by! That was rediculus. But I think what really got him in the technical standings was the Slingshot rock thing. That really couldn't kill, while the Bow and arrow could.

What do you think was the best fight they've had so far?

aphrodite remix 06-24-2010 02:02 PM

I heart deadliest warrior.

HOWEVER

I am soooo not digging the second season as much as the first, as the the representatives for each group are seemingly getting cheesier and cheesier.

Example: Aztec Jaguar Warrior vs Zande Warrior. The 2 dudes kept chanting that nonsense, and then one of the guys like ends up getting all that fake blood in his mouth and what not, so silly imo. Its almost like they're over acting because they're going to be on t.v.

Aside from that though, soooo awesome! I'll still buy the second season when it comes out lol.

Hermes 06-24-2010 06:05 PM

Gonna be honest here. My understanding of history is good, but specific. I always figured William Wallace was a celt, so I got confused. D:
On my knowledge of Persian Immortals though, I'd have given them the upper hand over celts. I did not see the episode though.

Codette 06-25-2010 03:36 PM

William Walace was Scottish. But his fight was a specific person vs. person in the 1st season. Celt vs. Persian was general fighters in 2nd season. Don't worry Hermes. I know this much because a few years ago my aunt did some research and we found out that we're actually decendants of the Walace clan. ^.^ My history is very general but incompasses the world. I know more about specific leaders and mythology...

Yeah the KGB's camera gun should'a won. Plus, who's ganna blame the press?

My favorite fight... William Walace vs. Zulu. I can't help it. Blood and all that jazz...

Demon_of_the_Sand 06-25-2010 04:04 PM

GSG9 vs. S.W.A.T
Celt vs. Persian Immortal
Somali Pirate vs. Medellin Cartel
