For anyone interested, I found a Wipeout Fan site. It's mostly dedicated to the US, UK and Aussi versions, but it also has information about even more versions of Wipeout! The Argentinian version, Hombre al Agua ("Man in the Water"). The Canadian version, Wipeout Québec. The French version, also called Total Wipeout. The German version, Wipeout - Heul nicht, lauf! ("Wipeout - Don't cry, run!"). And the Turkish version, called Wipeout. I didn't know the show had gotten so big!
It sounds like their versions vary a bit, though I think the German version uses the same course in the same location as the UK version. I saw some clips on youtube. The Canadian version seems to have a wildly different format. @Bunai - I think it was the second version of Australian Wipeout where they had a brother and sister battle it out for supremacy. They both made it to the second round with the sweeper but then the sister went to jump over the sweeper arm and instead ended up stuck on it. It carried her on to knock into her brother. She grabs onto him and then he's dangling from the sweeper arm, holding her up. Then he drops her into the water and lands on the next podium. It was crazy and awesome. He ended up moving on to the next round, but not her. But then for some reason he bowed out and let his sister move on to the next round. I thought it was rather sweet. |
i so can't wait for Wipeout Canada

I think it's already playing. The website I found has this:

:D I love this show!!! It always cracks me up and there's something about watching other peoples fail that just makes my day seem so much better. XD The hosts are pretty funny, too. And lets not forget the big balls.
|
I love this show. I'm watching the latest episode while posting this. XD We totally need someone from Mene to be on Wipeout.
|
I'd love to do it! I'm sure I'd lose horribly. ^_^;;
You should check out the Australian version of Wipeout. That's a good one too. The UK one sucks though :P |
I'll have to look it up once I'm done with this episode. Though I love the new obstacles they have this year, esp the one where they have the people in the middle throwing things at the contestants (named the Construction Zone in the episode I'm watching)
|
There's a few episodes of it up on youtube. :D
And yeah, that makes things more challenging. All that glop and random stuff getting tossed at them. On the UK version though, the obstacles in the Wipeout Zone were ridiculously easy. People finished the course in under five minutes. Ridiculous! |
That is ridiculous, while it's sposed to be entertaining it's also sposed to be a challenge.
I'd love to have the job of throwing the stuff at the people. XD |
Their format is different. They only have one guy in the booth and he's boring. They do a lot of interviews after the courses, which is potentially interesting, but boring. And they only send three people to their super weak Wipeout Zone. And those guys beat it in mere minutes, which is boring! I dunno how they can make people falling down so boring, but they managed it!
It would be fun to trip people up with giant teddy bears and construction cones :rofl: |
