Lol good point xP

I don't think he was.....its not like the show to let the truth come out that quickly. Although.....he did seem genuinely shaken up about it.....so thats something to consider.

I watch White Collar every week! It's one of my favorite television shows, honestly USA has a really great lineup, I could watch that channel for hours, but White Collar is definitely the best of USA's original programming. Neal Caffrey is such a charming character and Agent Burke, well I've begun to like him more as the friendship between him and Caffrey develops over the two seasons. Mozzie is a favorite too, I like that he has so many quirks: sort of like a deviant Monk (like I said, I love watching USA)

Am I the only bothered by the last episode a bit? The whole "absolutely everything you know about these characters all started within the same week." All the references, all the characters meeting each other at the exact same time (Mozzie, Alex, Kate, Jones, uhh... that other FBI chick), all the characters at the same time turning into the ones we'd recognize (Neal starts wearing suits, Peter shaves the moustache, Mozzie loses the toupe)... Once or twice it's cute, but they really ran it into the ground to the point where it was distracting and annoying for me. Anyone else?

Also, nothing to do with this episode so much, but Kate looks just like Peter's wife. The director has a type.

Saisei 02-09-2011 11:01 PM

I think "exact same time" is a stretch when the past events took place over a span of at least 5 months...

Cora 02-10-2011 02:25 AM

Neil told that story.....but.....it wasn't "At the same time"

Neil was with that guy for quite some time.

Yeah, I also feel like the progression of the change happened a little...not so fluid, you know? Especially with his and Kate's relationship, it seemed floppy.
I mean, weren't they living together at the time he got arrested? :? And they made no references at all to the wine bottle, which severely disappointed me.
But no apparently he was chasing her...And yet there were no references to him having chased her before during the first season, and that seemed odd. Especially between Neal and Mozzie. I mean, how could Mozzie not take a shot at that even once? D:

And yeah, lol. I noticed that at the beginning. Kate looks like she could be Elizabeth's sister! Maybe even a daughter she had a little too young (though that might be as stretch).

Cherry Who? 02-10-2011 05:55 AM

You're right, it did happen over some time. I didn't realize that until they arrested Neal, and I wrote that post before I had finished the episode. But regardless, you could say it all happened in the stretch of a year or so. Maaaaybe two? Does that sound fair? Even still, to have everything we know about the characters formed all in a one year is a bit... bleh. As if they had no lives before what we've seen, outside of Peter's marriage.

And as monstahh mentioned, the relationship with Kate was covered... poorly. I mean, I realize Neal didn't tell about every day, but it always seemed like they had something... deeper than some cons and then her running off for a while.

I dunno, it just seemed so cliched. :(

monstahh` 02-10-2011 07:51 PM

I'm pretty sure start to finish, the Adler "long con" was only supposed to last six months, which is what REALLY irked me...I don't really think it ended up lasting much longer than that, if it did at all...Because if it did, I certainly didn't get that hint and I've seen the first 3 episodes of the season already like 5 times. D:

Saisei 02-10-2011 09:51 PM

The long con was supposed to be six months, but there was an undescribed span of time between when Neal breaks up the three card Monte con and when they started the Adler con. There was at the minimum all of the time required to do the research and put together the bankroll to get Neal into that life.

Cora 02-11-2011 12:27 AM

The part about the neil, kate relationship that bothered me.....Wasn't there a past episode where neil mentions traveling with kate.....something about the paintings on the wall? Or am I thinking another show?

Also.......there was the fact that kate died in the plane that was supposed to be a getaway for her and neil right? but then he got caught...........but that last episode made it seem like kate was running from him up until the time he got caught so........that doesn't really mesh well.....

Okay, that part doesn't make any sense.

Cora 02-12-2011 11:03 PM

The last episode before the break in season. The whole sequence with the plane. She was on that plan that she had planned to explode. And both she and neil where supposed to be on that plane......but the bomb went off early, essentially killing her......it was supposed to be an escape wasn't it.....for her and neil? Or did I totally remember that wrong?

Saisei 02-13-2011 04:11 AM

I just didn't see the connection you were drawing to the part in the past where she was running away from him when he got caught the first time.

There would've been plenty of time for them to make ammends, after all. Federal cases don't exactly move at the speed of light, plus even after he was convicted she came to visit him in prison for a while, before she got mixed up with Fowler.

Cora 02-13-2011 11:02 AM

Good point........there was the connection I forgot about....things make a bit more sense.

I forgot he was arrested more then once o.0

monstahh` 02-15-2011 09:07 AM

Yeah, that's true I suppose, but it was still incredibly vague. :(

I've gone ahead and merged these two threads, as they cover the same subject. :)

Cora 03-10-2011 05:14 PM

Season Finale?

Do you think he really did it? It certain looks that way.....

Saisei 03-10-2011 05:34 PM

Nah, he didn't do it.

I can think of at least three plausible explanations for what happened.

Cora 03-10-2011 08:04 PM

I thought of two....

Mozzie and Alex xP

Saisei 03-11-2011 01:37 AM

Cora Lorington:

SPOILERX

It's possible that Alex or Mozzie actually stole the stuff and simply put it in that storage unit and gave him the key. That was scenario #1 in my head.
In scenario #2, Adler puts all of the stuff in that storage building himself, planning to use the building explosion as a cover that would draw the FBI to the building, where they would assume everything was destroyed and he could slip away in the confusion. Oops, he got himself killed.
Scenario #2 leaves a large loose end: Neal's painting at the scene. Thus, in Scenario #3, Alex ends up in cahoots with Adler and she steals and plants the painting in the "decoy" building that they blow up. After the big kissy kissy scene in the drydock, and Adler gets himself killed, she's overcome by old feelings again (like when she basically gave him the music box) and leaves him the key to the storage and the note (Remember, it said "You'll thank me.")

Or, he stole it all. :)

It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever from a writing standpoint for him to actually be the thief. That leaves the series in a very strange place where Neal is basically the villain.

Cora 03-11-2011 04:53 AM

Actually senerio 2 makes a whole lot of sense......

Saisei 03-12-2011 02:12 PM

SPOILERX

Yeah, but you need to sprinkle in a bit of 3 in order for the painting to make sense being there. It makes perfect sense that Adler would've planted the painting there to frame Neal. Obviously he didn't plan on getting shot.

I just threw in the Alex thing because they're so on again/off again, but a big part of season 3 is going to be Peter finding out if Neal did it and Neal going around behind his back trying to find out who left him the key.

Cora 03-12-2011 07:11 PM

SPOILERX

Well if you know anything about the show at all you know neal is gonna wanna figure it out himself. And of course peter at this point doesn't trust neal AT ALL.

I think it would then HAVE to be scenerio 3, because adler couldn't have gotten the painting from neal's house without her help. Neal would have known that Adler was there.

Part of me thinks though....that Adler didn't know that the paintings where moved....But its possible that alex and adler where working together and that Alex went rouge with the whole thing.

Saisei 03-12-2011 09:26 PM

SPOILERX

From a writing standpoint, I think that the writers feel Neal needs to be sneaking around on some quest behind Peter's back.

I think, in some ways, it would be a ballsy turn of events if it was Neal and Alex in cahoots to steal the stuff, but I still think it would harm the series as a whole.

It'd be kinda neat, in retrospect, if Mozz and Alex were in cahoots to screw Adler and steal the stuff.

Now I'm just getting ridiculous, though.
