A Very Potter Musical
I would recommend this musical to any Harry Potter fan...or hater. For those who don't know, A Very Potter Musical and its sequel were made entirely by students at the University of Michigan who are known on YouTube as StarKidPotter. They are some of the most glorious parody work I have ever seen.
Menewsha, you're in for a treat. ;) |
Hmmm is this perhaps the origin of the Mysterious Ticking Noise?
|
AVPM is, dare I say it, far better than Potter Puppet Pals. It combines several of the books into one 'year' at Hogwarts, and adds goofy song and dance along with it. The only disappointment - Ron doesn't have a pathetically high-pitched voice. :/
|
Oh I've watched this on youtube, and I think it's great! My favourite part was the duet between Voldemort (as the head on the back of Quirrell) and Professor Quirrell.
|
YES! They are quite adorable, and the actor who played Voldemort did a brilliant job in my opinion.
|
I have watched this on youtube as well and I thought it was fantastically done. I wish they were playing it for real on broadway somewhere, even off off broadway. I would be one of the first to get tickets and go, sadly, their broadway is way too far away for me to do that.
But it was a beautifully written parody that played on a lot of the jokes and humor people think up about the book series. I have to say unexpectedly, Voldemort and Professor Quirrell. They took their two character's plot line to a whole new level of hilarity with many good punch lines and longing looks. And their songs were by far the best. My second favorite thing was the fact that Draco Malfoy was played by a girl and she rolled in and out of scenes, literally! I would have to say the one thing I didn't like too much about it, it I criticize anything, was the character of Ron in the play. They made him surprisingly cruel and mean in my opinion, far more than any of the other boys. |
I've watched the whole thing several times over. I LOVE IT!
Rampartte you really didn't like Ron's character? I thought it was funny. Yes they did make him quite cruel, but that was supposed to be the joke. I believe they were trying to have him be, "The all-star quaterback's best friend." Like in high school movies, the guys who is popular because of his friend, and thinks that just because he is "cool" he can do as he pleases. Harry would supposedly be the equivalent of the "all-star" in the wizarding world. So I thought it was hilarious how they changed Ron's character in this. I must say, Snape, Voldemort, and Dumbledore are my favorites of the entire play. It was genius how they took aspects from both the book and fandoms to create their characters. The writers are definitely going to be big names in the future. |
Draco is by far my favorite in this.
Though, it's so long... I've yet to actually watch the whole thing... or it's sequel. Also, Voldemort plays a close favorite. |
OMG I love love love this musical! Draco and Voldemort are my favorite. XD The whole thing is just so silly.
Their other productions I have seen we're pretty good too. |
I had to look it up the other day because I heard it mentioned so much. I loved it! It kept me laughing and the songs and story line were all well written.
|
I love AVPM ! I 've only seen the first one though. Voldemort and Draco were my favorite characters.
|
I'm glad other people love it too. :)
The same group has also posted a more mature musical, Me and My Dick. It's obviously intended for an older audience, but it is just as well written and equally entertaining. I watch my favorite scenes when procrastinating on school projects, and encourage y'all to do the same. ;) |
I've seen AVPM and AVPS, I love both of them. Voldemort was my favorite in the first one and Umbridge is my favorite in the sequel. Of course both characters are played by the same guy LOL.
I really recommended everyone seeing the sequel, it made me laugh way more than the first one. There are fewer songs in it though, that kind of bummed me out. |
I am horrifically obsessed with it and the sequel... Not to mention so excited that the Harry will be on the new Glee tonight! As a gay guy, apparently. Anyhoo, anyone just find themself ridiculously attached to Voldemort's ABS? And general character and awesomeness but hehe...
