What are some of the best 80's movies ever?

I love the 80's! I want to start buying the movies but I don't know which ones to look for!

Here's what is on my 'to get' list:

Pretty in Pink
Teen Witch
Sixteen Candles

As you can see, that is a very short list. So, help me out? ;D Pretty please?

My favorite 80's movie is most definitely 'Say Anything...'. It is simply awesome. :3

Are the Bill&Ted movies the 80s?

The first one is anyways.

I really liked The Goonies as it created a huge cult following everywhere. I'm kind of curious now who all remembers the Legend of Billy Jean. For some reason the movie The Legend of Billy Jean is not that well remembered among my peers. It was a really good movie at the time, but even now I'm really having trouble remembering what exactly the movie was all about anyways.

Breakfast Club is essential to any 80s movie collection.

I'm also fond of E.T. XD

That is truly an eighties film for sure. Some of the lingo they use is hallmark of the decade and the clothes. It almost pains me to see how the eighties have become really far back now. I guess I'm just getting older now and it's slightly a bit scary to stop and realize how far back that was, but at the same time I was a child of the eighties and not a teen, for me that was the nineties which the nineties.

E.T. by Steven Spielburg definitely also brings back lots of memories especially since I saw it in the movie theatres in nineteen eighty-three. I was a young child then. I remember how big it was and a commercial they did for Reeses Pieces at the time with an extraterestial alien that comes into this conveinient store and asks for Reeses Pieces and the old couple who are running it are amazed and after it buys the candy as it's walking out one of the elderly people behind the counter comments that they think it looks like one of their cousins. Yes, it was cheesy but hey, it was the eighties so cheesy was cool.... I guess.lol

I am genuinely shocked at each and every one of you. How could you forget to mention 'Ghostbusters' that is essentially the greatest 80's movie ever.

I don't know what it is about that movie, perhaps just the very iconic theme tune, but something is just amazing about it. That is must see viewing for every generation.

One of my personal favourites of the 80's has to be The Shining by Stephan King. Yet another iconic film, but definately not one to show the kiddies xD

I really liked Back To The Future a whole bunch. You might like it, too!

Ah, I totally forgot about the Back To The Future films. They are amazing. Marty Mcfly is just the cutest XD

I've not seen the ones that the OP mentions, but I know Sizzla has mentioned all of those in a similar conversation in the staff room before. Sizz might also remember me saying how I cannot stand The Breakfast Club and will not watch it

I'll mention a few that other people haven't, that I feel pretty much opitomise 80s films and that I still enjoy watching today:

Beverley Hills Cop
Lost Boys (Kole and myself have talked about this one elsewhere)
Terminator
When Harry met Sally
Big
Aliens

Some of my favourites that have already been mentioned are:

Back to the Future
E.T
Ghostbusters

Who's going to plump for Raiders of the Lost Ark then? I'll enjoy this is it's on TV, but I'd definitely go for Alex Foley first if I had to choose between the two. I think I can honestly say that is one of my all time favourites.
