Comic based entertainment

Does anyone else here like TV shows of movies?

Me personally I try the best I can to stay on top of movies or TV shows that are based on comic books. I'm a die hard Marvel fan and totally love all the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider Man and Hulk movies. Even if they did use artist license on some of the characters.

Of course I'm waiting for the next X-Men movie mostly because I want to see exactly how Kevin Bacon is going to play his villain rule. And I totally can't wait to see Thor.

I'm also psyched about the new Wonder Woman TV show that's suppose to be coming out later this year. Wonder Woman is of course a DC character.

DC, Marvel and Top Cow have had their comics made into shows.

Does anyone else here have a favorite comic based movie or show that they liked?

I love Wonder Woman, but I am not too keen on the new costume -- it looks too plastic and wimpy. I hope it was just a prototype because if it wasn't, they are going to look bad compared to some of the superior cosplays I've seen...

Bearzy 03-26-2011 04:44 AM

I agree with alexandra about the costume. It's kinda weird looking.

At least it doesn't look painted on. I'm very interested to see how it will compare to the original that aired back in the late 70's

A satin bikini and high heels versus kinky Kinder Egg costume? I think they are in a dead heat for sexist costume -- I am not holding out much hope for the new version, but I will give it a two episode chance all the same...

It could be worse they could cast Megan Fox as Wonder Woman if they ever get around to put out a movie.

Well, they did put her in Jonah Hex...

FireOnix 03-28-2011 01:46 AM

yea I know. You're all welcomed to your own opinion of Megan as a person and as an actor, of course, but I think she comes off as a bit to slutty to play a role like Wonder Woman.

Bearzy 03-28-2011 05:05 AM

This is probably true, even if she would look really good while she did it... *sigh*

maybe but shouldn't they chose an actress based on more then just her physical appearance? or are looks all that really matter?

I wish I could say that I had a favorite comic that was turned into a movie but so far all of them turned out into a dissappointment. Especially the ones based on my favorite video games. Im going to use resident evil as an example. The movie for that stunk to me. They could've done better. It was more focused on all the action than actually making the movie scary. They didn't even stick to the games story. That was a big dissappointment for me>_>.

I can't say the same -- I liked the first Iron Man, I loved the Dark Knight. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was good once I realized it was done independently from the graphic novel. Watchmen was extremely enjoyable for me -- there are some good ones...

Oh no, I totally agree with that! I guess I came across wrong before. What I meant was that she would look good in the part, but it would still probably be wrong for her.

Everyone is allowed to their own opinion. I took those movies not as a continuation to the game but kind of as another story based on the same concept.

I hate how they're trying to make it all into teen dramas and not really sticking to the stories. I mean I can appreciate them using a new story line or what not but when they don't keep the characters in character and just use the names then it bugs me. It's like a badly written fan fiction at that point.

Elluh 04-12-2011 10:33 PM

Mm, it's alright as long as they do go far into changing the complete series.

I tihnk most of the best comics have been done - maybe the green lantern could get a shout. My favourite will always be v for vendetta.
I;d like to see cat woman be involed with bat man, those two have such good chemistry....

are you going to see the Green Lantern movies that's coming out?

and as for Cat woman and Batman I believe their romantic relationship has been addressed many times in the original Batman movie series, in the cartoons and possible in the comics. :) just saying
