Mine will always and forever be Nightmare Before Christmas :-]

Yes. Yes! and... oh my, look at that YES! Beetlejuice was my favorite movie when I was little. (well it was a toss up between that and The Little Mermaid but that's off topic) Went to see Sleepy Hollow in theaters. That has been THE only movie I ever went to see that has completely enthralled me. I didn't whisper to my mom about anything. I didn't even TOUCH the popcorn I just watched and when it was over my eyes were burning because apparently I wasn't even blinking as often as I should. Sweeney Todd? I was so, so apprehensive about. I refused to see it in theaters and have been kicking myself for years on that. I didn't think Johnny could sing I thought he was being cast based on his friendship with Burton. Oops. I do actually feel that's the case in Willy Wonka though. Johnny is an amazing actor and does so many different things and does them well but Wonka was awful. |
I have to say my heart goes out to Sweeney Todd on this one.
I love Johny Depp as an actor and my god can that boy sing. I thought Helena was great as Lovette as well. However you can not help but give a tip of the hat to Edward Scissorhands. The story concept and direction in this movie are still remarkable. ---------- Quote:
coincidentally he would have directed Nightmare before christmas if he wasn't boggled down by the time constraints on batman returns. However credit does go to burton for both writing nightmare before christmas and producing it. |
The one Tim Burton movie I couldn't stand was Alice in Wonderland. It had very little to do with the books and the only similarity I saw between the characters were the names.

I agree... while it was him taking his own licensing on the universe, he did very few things that are essential to the feel, and to the characters. i was expecting him to do some pretty heavy wordplay, and the dialogue ended up as bland as unsalted potatoes :/ |
Really I thought Alice in Wonderland was alright, not even close to the books...but still alright.

eh, that Alice in Wonderland was alright, but reminded Sora too much of a fanfic.
and speaking of Tim Burton, Sora is so excited because he's doing an exhibition and Sora HAS to go for school XDD Los Angeles County Museum of Art |
This is seriously a huge toss-up for me. I have a lot of favorite Tim Burton films in mind. It's just a matter of which one I prefer above all.
Well...like all things Alice in Wonderland. And Tim Burton's version of it was just absolutely wonderful and breath-taking. Mia was stunning. Sweeney Todd was also a good film. The songs were great and the I loved the story line to death. The Corpse Bride was also an amazing film. LOVED ALL of the music in it and the story line was brilliant. And then there's A Nightmare Before Christmas which was the first Tim Burton Film I had ever seen. It made me watch ALL of his movies. (Holy crap, I hope I got it right -- that Tim produced that film!) So above all, I'm going to have to say the favorite one I like AT THE MOMENT. And that film is Sweeney Todd. |
The Nightmare Before Christmas is splendid! But there was already a chat about that, and in response: Its' title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Apart from that either Sweeney Todd (2007 adaptation with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter) or his adaptation of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. The only problem with Sweeney Todd is the choice of actors for Judge Terpin and the Beadle (Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall). Their singing voices seemed just a bit odd to me. |
In counterpoint, I present: William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet.
|
No idea how that relates to Tim Burton, but that movie is positively ridiculous. Hawaiian-tourist type shirts with guns instead of swords meshed with the original dialogue?
Then again, the play in written format bored me. |
I'm saying that putting the story author's name in the title doesn't make it his movie. :)
