The Adventures of Tintin (And all things related)

I was surprised that no one has made a thread describing this phenominal movie. Peter Jackson and Steven Speilburg really did a great job. As an avid Tintin fan since I was a child takes on a couple of different meanings to me. As a child, it opened my imagination as I traveled with Tintin on these fantastic journeys of peril and excitement helping him however I could. Of course, once I grew up I revisited the series(the later part of it) and it took on a different meaning as I saw it with quite a different perspective.

Now the movie, I had to set a small bit of the theme by mentioning the series-- the movie which is three of the books rolled up into one movie and of course parts are cut. The books for those of you who wish to go back and catch the extras these are the books that the movie compresses: The Crab with the Golden Claws (1941), The Secret of the Unicorn (1943), and Red Rackham's Treasure (1944). One of the downsides as it seemed to have maybe just a little too much slapstick humor but that was a forgivable choice, which those antics are humorous and draws children into the film. The 3D realism really shocked me with how well done it was. I was completely drawn to the screen the entire time. Tintin and Captain Haddock were unforgetable characters. Besides the humor in the movie stronger underlined themes are there for those who do a little bit of critical thinking. Themes of friendship/love and loyalty. Snowy is so adorable that it makes me miss not having a dog of which for twenty years kept me company in life(that parting was a painful time).

I figured the story they would tell would be just slightly different as in the books Sackherine was not the nemisis of Tintin and Captain Haddock. It's still enjoyable as other Hallmark characters such as Madame Castafiore makes an appearance. I give the movie a 9 out of 10.

I havent gotten a chance to see the movie yet, but I grew up watching the cartoon. It was one of my favorites.

I really liked how nicely done it was, I bought the movie pretty much for the slash value in it which it had quite a bit of it in there from what I could see.

I read most of the books and cannot wait for the sequel as I think it will be centered around the books such as the Calculus Affair. Their making the movies introducing new ones each time as Professor Calculus plays an important role in the series, but I cannot wait for Chang as he is my favorite secondary character.

Eventually I did some reading about Herge aka George Remi and really learned some interesting things about him.
