I just want to talk about nothing else for the next 7 weeks. *Flails*

Seeing it was a good way to end the day after 10 hour shift at work. :)

BUY GUYZ. Seriously! Pepper!
She is so amazing.

I mean, the movie was nothing like the comics... But who cares, it's Iron Man the movie, not the same... I loved it. It was perfect. Only could have used more Pepperony smut.

On the plus side, all the references to Pepper in the suit might be an indication of Rescue, coming soon? That would be awesome.

Perhaps, or her in the suit could have been the tribute to Rescue. I'm not sure where they're going to take it from here. I know in the comics Tony gets his arc reactor removed - but gets it back for reasons....

After this though, it's hard to say how closely they're following the comics.

Oh man, that is just awesome ^_^ I had no idea. On facebook, there is an application called Avengers Alliance where we can recruit heros and stuff. There is a new hero that is being offered, and she is Rescue. I didn't know her story until now :) So that is pepper huh :D

I liked the movie, but I didnt love it, which for me, is a disappointment.
Downey abolsutely owns the role, and he is great - but I agree with the criticisms that the goofy comedy was turned up waaaaaay to high. Even in situations where the stakes were supposed to be very high, or in one case - someone close to him apparently just died, he's still delivering goofy one liners, or there is goofy comedy happening with the suits not behaving like he wanted them to. Tony Stark should always be cocky and funny, but this strayed a little too far for me. Also - I had major problems with the villain. I thought the Mandarin twist was fine, I liked it - but I did not enjoy Guy Pearce as the villain. He came off cheesy and un-imposing to me. It never felt to me like he ever had the upper hand, even when I was supposed to feel that way. Lastly, the third act of the movie for me was a pretty big clusterf*ck. I hated the final scene at the dock. I dont need 456 iron man suits, I dont need Paltrow kicking Pearce's ass at the end, and I thought the post cedits stinger (which marvel is now famous for) was rushed, tacked on, and was unimportant.

All that being said, I thought it was a bit better overall than Iron Man 2, but significantly behind Cap, Thor, IM1 and Avengers. I would give the first half of the movie a strong B+, burt the second half a C at best. I was expecting a lot more.

I thought the scene with all the suits was very well done. It showed just how messed up Tony was with his PTSD, that he managed to make 30+ new suits since New York. As well - it was just bad ass - since it's a super hero movie you kind of need that action in it, especially considering it was the final fight scene. Tony jumping from suit to suit? Just fantastic. It was visually appealing, and just the right ending - especially what he did with them all at the end. It wrapped it up beautifully - signifying that Tony was ready to heal. And I mean, you're right - Downy does nail the role - When Pep fell, in a single look you can see Tony's anguish over it, and than you can see that switch goes off where its no-holds, I'm going to kill this guy, rage.

As for the comedy - it was funny, and I think it was used as a buffer because Iron Man 3 touched on a lot of serious issues. PTSD being one, the fear of losing the one you love - and America's fear of terrorists as another (When the threat was domestic all along). Which is why I liked Aldrich as the villain - you don't expect this guy, just some scientist, to be the villain. He is the threat, and it's not just domestic, its not 'in our own back yard' - the threat is in your house. And, considering the Mandarin was created during a time when America was looking for a scapegoat for their hate/fear of Chinese Communists... I suuuuper really like what they did with him in the movie.

You also have the fact that cheese one liners, even in the face of danger, grief, etc... is Tony's character. He is sarcastic, ironic... it's his way of dealing with things. Like Tony said... A cheap trick and a cheese one liner could be the title of his auto biography.

I also think Pep kicking butt at the end was a nice touch. A little 'in case you missed her awesome', here it is spelled out for you kinda deal - yet some people still missed the point and called her as being a 'damsel in distress'. She is the CEO of a major company, the likes of Tony Stark, Natasha Romanov, etc... all respect her, she is smart, etc... Yet - she is feminine, expresses emotion. The fact that Marvel let her have her fighting moment was perfect and spot on, on their part. Especially since they showed her reaction to it. Sure, she can fight, and is probably trained in some sort of martial arts/self defense - but she doesn't like the violence (Even if she liked the adrenalin rush). And despite all that - she was still so self aware, and her major concern after the fact was hurting Tony. I think her kicking butt at the end was a much better way of doing things other than having her die, or walk out of the debris after the fact.

All in all - I can see your points for not liking them - but I disagree, I think some of those points made the movie.

I have to agree with Sansa on some of these points. I really liked the ending scene. It allowed me to more fully appreciate Pepper's distress with Tony's hobbies because that would have taken a lot of time. Also, the humor kept it from being too tense for me to enjoy.
