Bad Movies!

I was just wondering something.

Have you ever walked out of a movie in the cinemas/turned off a movie without watching it all the way through? If so, why? I want to hear some stories about bad movies!

What are some terribad movies you have watched? Why did you think they were bad? Here's a thread for the inspiring movie reviewers, or critics!

I have walked out of the theatre only once, and it was when I was much younger. My dad took me to the movies because he wanted to watch Star Wars: A Phantom Menace. I fell asleep half way through and we left, because I found it soooo boring :P

I nearly walked out of one movie; 10,000BC. It was soooooooooo bad, OMG. We stayed to watch it all the way through, because I didn't want to waste the $40 I had spent to see a movie. I wish I just saw Sweeny Todd instead, but i had my younger brother with me and Sweeny Todd was rated R16.

I have turned off plenty of DVDs when I tried to watch them. Ones that come to mind were Inglorious Basterds (I usually don't mind reading subtitles, but I really wasn't in the mood to watch this movie. I just found it so terribly boring) and It (it was supposed to be a scary movie for my 16th birthday sleepover, but we just found it hilarious and couldn't finish watching it).

So tell me your experiences here! Lets have some fun talking about bad movies.

NekoLen 02-11-2014 10:55 PM

Hahahaha, what on Earth is that one about?

hummy 02-11-2014 10:56 PM

all i remember is SEEING a buttcrack!!!!!
and some stupid buttcrack theme song
i beg you not to watch it

Hahaha, sounds really weird and random.

I usually sit through even pretty bad movies... I think I've turned off a couple in my time though. I remember that I walked out on The Evil Dead 2, because I didn't like the continuation from the first one, and I don't find parodies all that funny. Um, I turned of Fight Club about ten minutes in, just because I wasn't in the mood for it at the time. Yeah, I usually just don't watch movies I don't think I'll be interested in.

Transmorphers. My boyfriend, best friend, and I all passed out about an hour in. The acting was terrible. The graphics were terrible. The movie was terrible. Not to mention, it's a rip-off of Transformers. Definitely see Transformers, the graphics make a HUGE difference.

NekoLen 02-18-2014 10:33 PM

Done by Asylum, yes they intentionally make bad rip-offs and have a cult following. They've done all sorts of really bad movies, with bad CGI, bad acting and mostly rip-offs. They are the ones that made Sharknado, for example. They are supposed to be movies that you watch and not take seriously. Watch them for bad movie night and laugh at how terrible they are.

Below is a link to a rather funny video talking about Asylum movies. It's rather informative as well. Just a warning, there is slight bad language in it.

Link be here.

I watched "The Lucky Dragon" on Netflix since I like dragons and wanted to watch it... After hearing the terrible voice acting for the first 5 minutes, I clicked away... It's a Chinese movie, and anime dubbed for kids like Sailor Moon and Sonic X sounded better than the movie, 'cause at least they didn't sound stale![angry]
I have watched some bad movies as a kid, like Sharkboy and Lavagirl, for example, but I was a kid, so watching them now is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I never watched The Lucky Dragon as a kid, nor could I. It was made in 2009. So this movie is an exception of a bad movie I really really don't like.

Yeah, I knew all that going into the movie, but even knowing that it was terrible. I would argue that it was beyond terrible, but having fallen asleep for most of it, I can't label it that just yet. Even looking at the IMdB reviews, Transmorphers falls under a 2 star rating. Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus, on the other hand, was pretty entertaining. Tried to watch Sharknado last night and it was too much for me. >.<

I would argue that all bad movies should suck but Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was actually pretty good, in my opinion. I went into that movie knowing it was going to suck and I walked away loving it. The fact that Jeremy Renner was in it might have a lot to do with that, though. XD

Oh, another movie that I found painfully boring was The Host. I'm not sure how much I watched, but it wasn't getting anywhere at all. It is a rather dry, slow moving story. The acting wasn't anything special either.

Bearzy 02-19-2014 10:37 PM

Heh, Hansel and Gretel was actually hilarious. And the host was... so so. Nothing special really, just another bad movie of a YA novel. There are so many of those I've stopped paying attention to them.

ElysiumFate 02-22-2014 03:12 AM

I actually really liked 10,000 BC.

I almost walked out of The Black Swan several years ago, but didn't. I have turned off several of Adam Sandler's newest movies...they just suck ass. I wanted to walk out of the Three Stooge's movie when it was in theaters but stuck through it because...yeah, spent money on it. I also REALLY wanted to walk out of Titanic. I went to see it when they turned it 3D and put it in IMAX. It was SO graphic and disturbing to see people die gruesome deaths for an entire hour on a gigantic screen.

NekoLen 02-22-2014 07:57 AM

Titanic being gruesome and disturbing? Hahahaha, the only part I hated to watch was the sex scene. I wonder what that looked like in 3d XD

waytodawn 02-25-2014 02:40 AM

The Last Airbender was pretty horrible for me to watch; it was just....no....
I prefer the cartoon series...10,000 B.C. was pretty bad too and The Host was just strange....
I've never walked out of a movie before, I'd be pretty mad if I did and spent money on it.

ElysiumFate 02-25-2014 04:14 AM

I liked The Host because I was a huge fan of the book. The book is slow paced and didn't transfer to movie form well. They left out wayyyy too much and couldn't properly portray the relationship between the alien and the humans.

Honestly, you don't know how gruesome Titanic can be until you have to watch people committing suicide off the side of a boat for an hour. On an IMAX screen. In 3D. It sounds like I'm making it worse than it is, but if you saw it, you'd know what I'm talking about.

You're worried about the sex scene? How about Kate Winslet's 3D naked boob?

---------- Post added 02-24-2014 at 09:15 PM ----------

The Last Airbender was awful. They should've sued Shyamalan for destroying it.

wickedwonderland 02-25-2014 04:18 AM

The Hunger Games movie was terrible!! I absolutely love the books and couldn't put them down. When I watched that movie though, I complained the entire time. Thank goodness it was a free rental and I didn't waste my money on that crap!

ElysiumFate 02-25-2014 04:40 AM

The first one? I liked the second one much better.

NekoLen 02-25-2014 07:14 AM

Hahaha, I actually like the Airbender, but then again I am not a fan of the cartoons. I just hated all the stupid over the top martial arts they did to use their powers, and how all the 'bad' guys were dark skinned.

Book-to-movies never do well. There are only few that are as good as the books or better. If you know any, do tell.

Like harry Potter >.< They were all shit compared to the books ;A;

ElysiumFate 02-25-2014 07:52 AM

Oh lord, the Airbender movie was ATROCIOUS if you are a fan of the cartoon. The martial arts weren't as graceful as they are in the toons. The show makes the whole thing much more beautiful. All of the characters were also the wrong ages, so that bugged me. Sokka is 15, at most, not 23-26 you noobs. >.>

It's possible that Gone With the Wind is better as a movie than as a book, but that's all I can think of. XP

I think the Mortal Instruments movies are shit as well. The books are much better.

NekoLen 02-25-2014 09:54 PM

Lessons to be learnt from this thread: Don't expect book/cartoon show adaptations to be good. XD

Yeah, the first twenty, twenty five minutes where they basically remake the first Evil Dead flat out suck. But the rest of the movie is really damn good, so when I watch it, I usually fast forward through it...

On topic, I can't really remember any movies that I've walked out on/turned off for being bad. I usually just pause movies for whatever reason and forget to finish watching them later. .___.

The absolute closest I've gotten is when I've stopped watching a few shows because of outright not liking where the show was going (namely Buffy and Attack on Titan.) Movies, though, I usually push through them if I don't like them because they're only a couple hours long at most, and it's not a big sacrifice in the long run.

ElysiumFate 03-01-2014 06:31 AM

[ninja] Attack on Titan is worth your time to finish unless you totally flat out hated it.

I tried to watch Buffy but it failed to impress me.

NekoLen 03-01-2014 06:48 AM

Oh, I've tried to watch many shows that just bored me to no end. A lot of stuff that was popular, know? Like Heroes and Glee and etc. I don't watch tv though, so.

I'm just kind of bored by Attack on Titan. Like, the first two thirds of show are really damn good, but I really can't be bothered to watch the last two episodes. >_> Doesn't help that I went and looked up what's happened in the manga, so I already know what's gonna happen.

The first season of Buffy is a bit weak, but the second and third seasons are really damn good for high school monster of the week show. Fourth season, though... Everything starts going downhill. Never bothered to finish the rest of 'em.

NekoLen 03-01-2014 10:04 PM

Buffy sounds a lot like Charmed. That series was good after the first couple of seasons and then started to go downhill fast.
