Game of Thrones *Beware of Spoilers*

Do my eyes deceive me? No Game of Thrones thread? Blasphemy, I say.

Well, as of starting this thread we're in the beginning of season four. What do you like about the show, how were the latest episodes? How are you handling your grieving over the red wedding? Do we still need to hire counselors?

Anyway, at this point we have finally seen

SPOILERX

Joffrey kick the bucket.

I am both thrilled and sad about this. I love to hate a good asshole.

A GENERAL RULE ABOUT SPOILERS FOR THIS THREAD:
If it happened within the week's episode, put it in [hide][/hide] tags. If it happened two episodes ago or more then don't worry about it.

If you're coming into this thread know that you're shit out of luck with spoilers unless you're caught up to the last episode. SO, don't read on until you are caught up or if you don't give a crud about reading spoilers.

Vox 04-21-2014 11:22 PM

In response to the thing you've put in spoiler tags: guess whose pretty face is set as my desktop background right now? xD The make-up artists did a great job with that scene if I may say so! Also, I was told the most recent wedding is referred to in the books as the purple wedding; how cute is that?

I've liked the first few episodes of the season. I'm excited to see more of Daenerys and worried for the rest of the characters since things aren't really looking great for anybody. ><

ElysiumFate 04-22-2014 12:39 AM

Hahaha, oh my Vox, that's gruesome but awesome at the same time. And yes, they did a wonderful job with that makeup. He looked downright dead. The actor played the scene well, too. I've always wondered how actors can perfect a death scene so well. And yep, that wedding is the purple wedding! Named by the book fans rather than Martin himself who actually did call the red wedding the red wedding.

I am still upset over the loss of Robb last season, so this season has been bittersweet to me so far. As I've been telling everyone who will listen I think it's time for Daeny to get her butt out of the desert. I'm going to be excited if she does. [yes] But yeah, I am interested to see who dies this season beyond who just did. Also, I want to see the white walkers.

BrotherOfDarkness 04-23-2014 01:41 AM

It's best I don't post, as I have read all the books, and have actually kidnapped George R Martin, and torturing him to write the rest of the books, and I know I'll accidentally give spoilers! All I'm going to say is I can't wait for the next book, and I'm hoping for some serious ninja, assassin, sword wielding, merciless, warg powered butt kicking from Arya!

Winds of winter! Bring it on!

---------- Post added 04-23-2014 at 02:44 AM ----------

Okay excerpt from new book coming out!!

Excerpt from the Winds of Winter | George R.R. Martin

Knerd 04-26-2014 04:49 PM

Aw, I got excited about a new release, then I saw that the excerpt was published in January 2013. [lol]

Tease!

ElysiumFate 04-28-2014 05:39 AM

And we finally see some white walkers! I don't really consider that a spoiler. I'm quite happy about it! They are such cool looking creatures in the show and I want to know what they're going to do.

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 06-02-2014 09:25 AM

Revive-age!!!!!

Anyone see the latest episode? Eh eh??? [ninja]

SPOILERX

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!!! I held out a little hope for Oberyn not dying. It being GoT, I kind of just figure dying is a possibility for everyone at any point. [lol] I think the sucky thing about it was just that I really liked his character. AND just the fact of how he died. Like damn.... If he had just gotten stabbed, okay... It would have sucked, but you know.. But what the mountain did. Ugh. And Cersei's stupid face when he did it. [t2h] Aaaaand because Tyrion's life was on the line too. Good grief... -flops-

I actually haven't really seen the rest of the episode though because we watched it at lunch so limited time, so skip to battle. XDDD I did briefly see Sansa looking all dark and badass so I'm looking forward to seeing what that's about.

SuperZombiePotatoe 06-02-2014 11:37 AM

I saw it. I died. [drool]

SPOILERX

Ugh, this damn show. I've read the books. I knew exactly what was going to happen. I didn't expect to be shocked at all. And, I wasn't shocked... I was depressed. I don't know if it was the atmosphere of the scene or the fact that seeing it reminded me of how @$#%ed I was when I read the chapter. I felt awful Ellaria after she was like "Don't me alone in this world" [gonk] [headdesk]
Yes, I am quite flabberghasted right now [stare]
That being said, the scene was done excellently! I mean, Oberyn was just skipping and twirling like anything and the Mountain... was HUGE and hulking and formidable O_O

Another part that I liked, when Arya and the Hound find out that Lysa died. Just epic [lol]

Sansa... I am so interested in how it goes with her from this part. will the show change a bit or many skip ahead. We shall see. She dyed her hair [squee]

ElysiumFate 06-02-2014 06:08 PM

That was by far the best episode this season I thought, except for the Joffrey episode at the very beginning.

SPOILERX

I am sad that Oberyn died...but I wasn't too surprised. Nothing ever goes that simply in this show. I suspect Tyrion will still live somehow.

I was really sad to see Sansa seems to be going down the dark road. That was a total transformation with her look and it was totally foreshadowing her becoming an eviller character or something. I love that she's becoming a more interesting character now, though.

I suppose this means that Arya won't meet Sansa now...that is getting a little old, honestly.

I was also super sad to see the Jorah fiasco. I was kinda a Jorah and Daeny shipper.

Going to see the season 4 finale in theaters. Already in my Dany Cosplayhttp://i60.tinypic.com/15qsnm1.jpg

CorienneFrey 06-22-2014 03:58 PM

Love the series ^^
Can't wait to see what season 5 brings~
Suppose I can start to read the books while waiting maybe :P

LonelyOtaku97 06-25-2014 09:37 PM

I am so excited for season five everything so far in Game of Thrones has been amazing! despite all the deaths. I also own four of the books and did start the second one. As for the red wedding so sad but no counselors required.

La Belle Soleil 07-10-2014 08:26 PM

WHEN WILL WE HAVE SEASON 5!!!!!!!!!!! D:

ElysiumFate 07-10-2014 08:51 PM

Lol, I imagine next April, Belle.

SuperZombiePotatoe 07-10-2014 09:03 PM

When will the next book come out?! [gonk]

ElysiumFate 07-11-2014 05:17 AM

Now that is a question only the great god GRRM knows. XD

LonelyOtaku97 07-11-2014 04:23 PM

Yeah only he knows that it gives me time to catch up on the books.

Bartuc 07-14-2014 01:13 AM

After 48 hours of not sleeping, I made it through the pilot to season 4 finale.

SPOILERX

Let me say, THANK YOU WRITERS FOR KILLING OFF JOFFERY! He was a great character but, I am sorry he got old and annoying fast. Then there was Tywin, thank you baby jesus. All I will say on that.

Sansa, well to be fair, she is a whore. She wants to be accepted by anything and everything. She has craved power and attention. She hated joffery but was ready to marry him. She has always been an ignorant little bitch. I am not surprised she is going down this dark path.

Arya and Tyrion - I feel are the only two characters left to build something with. Arya is growing and learning still. She has matured so much from season 1 to her final showing in season 4 with the Hound. At the start she was the little "brave" girl. Then you had the ending with the hound that just leaves you with a "Oh damn!" She has a lot of potential for her character and I am excited to see it.
As with Tyrion now coming with the season 4 finale. Just.. Oh my god. This is a complete revamp to the Tyrion we know so, I am excited to see how this goes.

The crippled kid - Yeah, I have lost this much interest in him I actually forgot his name. Just.. reunite him with someone already for fucks sake. This "soul-searching" journey of his is starting to seem like they are dragging the dead horses skeleton along a rocky road because all the meat has been torn off already by the rocks from the last 200 miles.

Ceries - Just.. kill her please.

ElysiumFate 07-14-2014 10:18 AM

@Bartuc: So do you think Daenerys has no room left for character development or are you just interested in the Stark family?

Also, I agree about Sansa. No matter how many people defend her to me I have always disliked her intensely.

Ferra 07-14-2014 11:26 AM

(Warning, spoilers!!)

Sansa is kind of "meh", but I can sympathize with her position. If she wasn't so darn passive she probably would be dead by now. (Arya would have been killed in Kings Landing had she stayed since you know she would have attempted to kill Joffrey.) But from now on Sansa has room to grow as a character since she's no longer under the thumb of someone who could have her killed - save for Little Finger, of course, but she knows he wants her alive.

I agree that I'm not terribly interested in Bran's (aka "the cripple kid") storyline, but I do think it serves a purpose of reminding the viewers that the story takes place in a fantasy land. His story is a big contrast to the gritty battles and political intrigue going on in the other storylines.

I wasn't super interested in the people at The Wall either, but things have gotten a bit more interesting now that Stannis arrived.

ElysiumFate 07-14-2014 09:02 PM

I didn't like The Wall much until this season. Jon was one of my least favorite characters, but now that everyone else is dead he's moved up a little bit. [lol] I really liked all of the drama that went down at The Wall this season so I'm excited to see more of it.

Bran's story line is kinda like Daenerys' to me. The only difference is that he gets hauled around by Hodor and does nothing while Daenerys walks around deserts and does nothing. Bran has finally found the three eyed crow at least...

I am looking forward to seeing what Sansa does now that she's gone dark. I don't have the slightest clue what's going to happen to her.

Exaggerated Rebellion 07-14-2014 11:14 PM

Bran's storyline is one that I think works better in the books. A lot of his story is, yeah, being carried around or chilling in his dreams. Not the most interesting of visual character arcs.

I can't wait to see what happens with Sansa, both in the show and in the books. She's easily one of my favorite characters after Jaime and Tyrion.

I was holding a big interest in Daenerys' story line up until the last season where it was like "Hey.. uhm yeah dont care anymore about the throne." Put her in the fight. We have seen her whored out by her brother. We have seen her get accepted into the new group. We have seen her dragons flourish. We have seen her obtain an army. We have seen her turn to a heartless war-queen. It is time for her to get into the fight. I don't think it will happen next season, but I do see the season finale putting her into the position where she will be arriving in the heartland of the conflict. When they do that there will be room for building but really, what left is there to build on aside from a relationship with her close advisers and possibly her army?

Sansa's colors showed early on but they flourished in the last couple episodes of this last season. There is more to build on her, but honestly I cant see anything aside from the dark-path side of her to come out as a ruthless, maybe similar to Ceries' character.

Now, I am actually really interested in Jaime and his manly-woman interest! I was disappointed in him and his sisters.. reunion. I still think Jaime has his personal conflict because you could tell he changed a lot from when he was captured to returned home, aside from his missing body part.

Don't get me wrong with Bran, there was alot of interest with him. It was when they took the journey to the tree it was like, come on now. They drew little effort, I felt into him so they bunched everything together in 3-4 minute segments, with maybe 1-2 an episode. I just feel that that it is the Lanister's that are getting most of the story arc show. Arya is starting to get less now since joining with Hound but in the small segiments she is in it shows a growth in the character vs a dream and a talk about the dream as with her brother.

LonelyOtaku97 07-15-2014 05:40 PM

I think that Bran's story is very fascinating, and the wall has had alot going on especially since Sam and John returned from it. I'm glad everyone's caught up on the story now. Sansa hasn't been my favorite person ever since that whole ordeal with her and Arya's wolf.

Uhg, I wish sansa would have made it onto Arya's kill list for that.
