Oh, Doctor Who is alright..

I seriously hope they won't bring a love interest as well, but seeing how Steven Moffat is taking over from Russell T. Davies, I'm not keeping my hopes up. And although I love Tennant (how can you not?), I am so excited about seeing who the next Doctor will be.
I only started watching the new series last summer, but since then I've also seen Torchwood and a few of the very first serials. I bought An Unearthly Child on DVD and have been downloading the next few. Being one of those people who like doing things in the right order, I am going to deny myself any sort of skipping. And I'm going to bloody well watch all the old series, even if it takes me years. :|

Anyone seen this video? What do you guys think? I don't know Paterson at all but I am just about to start watching Jekyll.. not sure if I should judge him as an actor from one part though.

I'm a new Doctor Who fan, and I just caught up with all of the new series (haven't seen the classic series yet, but I want to track it down too). Brilliant show.

The last episode made me cry at the end. I felt really bad for the Doctor, loosing two of the people he cares most about forever. I felt bad for Donna, after everything she will never be able to remember any of it. I also felt bad for Rose - giving her the part-human Doctor was a bit of a "consolation prize", but still - she can't even ever see the real Doctor again (at least for the foreseeable future).

I love how well David Tennant has played the Doctor - I'll be sad when he leaves the role after the specials. I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor as well, and was disappointed that he only stayed one season. For the companions, Rose has been my favorite. Martha was okay until she converted into a soldier, but now it seems like she no longer has a heart. (I agree with the Doctor - what crazy humans thought up a device to destroy their own planet?) Donna is too much of a bossy complainer for my tastes, but I really like what they did with her plot line.

I agree with GeminiKizzy - I really hope that they bring Jenny back - I'd love to see more of her! I also agree that I hope that next season does not bring another love interest - the Doctor needs time to heal. (Although I suspect that the reason why Martha became a one-sided love interest was to show how strongly the Doctor feels about Rose.)

Can't wait for the Christmas episode!

Matt Smith? I'm going to go google him. This is news to me. They've had reruns for so long that I've lost touch w/the show.

Yes! I grew up watching the old doctor who with my mum. I like the remake, both Christopher eccleston and david tennant (so cute), but I'm not sure if I like the actor they are replacing tennant with.
Torchwood now one of my favorite shows too, I think it's hillarious how they came up with the name for torchwood and why.

I love Dr. Who! I have only seen the last two and I love David Tennant. He makes it so fun, you can tell he loves playing the doctor. Plus when he gets serious it's still good, he knows how to play all emotions. I like Martha but I miss rose. I haven't been watching much lately I need to catch up. Plus BBC America and Sci Fi are on diffrent episodes so it gets confusing.

How many of you are british and how many are not? I'm an american myself but I know it's a lot bigger in britian.

Since this is an old thread I might've already posted in here, but I love Dr. Who! I used to tape the episodes and watch them over and over again.

I'm from America and I agree, it can get confusing. I went to a Dr. Who site to find the episode listings and then rented prev. seasons so that I could catch up. I haven't watched the old/orig Dr. Who - just the new.

Pandamonium, how/why did they come up with the name Torchwood then? I don't think I've heard anything about that..

Hallo everyone else. I'm Icelandic but living in the UK for the time being. Got to know the Doctor just before I arrived here though, through my friend. It's a very cult thing in Iceland.

I like Doctor Who. I have already watched series 1-4 (2005-2008) and at the moment I am trying to watch the black and white version from the very beginning, but I am having problems doing that because it's difficult for me to figure out the order of the episodes.

I like the ninth and tenth doctor, and at the moment I'm really excited for the eleventh doctor, Matt Smith. I watched his interview video and he was really giddy, I want to see how he pulls off being a 'darker' doctor.

I am a little depressed that I can't see the specials, because I am watching it on BBCA in the United States and I'm not sure but I don't think it's on Netflix -- the specials of the new version I mean.

I may be getting parts of this wrong but when the Dr. was w/Rose they went to he past to visit the Queen of England. She ended up staying at a manor called Torchwood. The Queen didn't trust the Doctor so she started an organization to watch for him and anything like him. Later, Captain Jack took it over from the inside. There is a lot more detail I can put in there but I'm afraid of spoiling episodes if people haven't seen them.

Does anyone know when the special episodes will be airing in the US? I hope that they at least show them before the new season starts or else a lot of people are going to be confused. And I for one will be really sad. I need my Doctor Who fix! ^_^

I"m a huge Dr. Who fan--mainly from back when i was a kid and my mum used to watch it with me <3

Imagine my surprise last year when my Communications Lecturer used the 2007 X-mas Special as part of an exam! She made us sit and watch the entire episode while writing down all the different types of interactions and communications of the charactors. It was great!

I've seen all of the new series--martha jones is my favorite companion! And the idea of saxon/the master was a fantastic story...not to say i don't love the entire series. My favorite episode has to be the library, just because of the complexity and emotion the whole situation brought...and it was really interesting to meet someone from the doctors future, too ;)

but i'd love to see the older dr. who series, i've heard so much about it...and i'd love to see K-9 in action!

Oh, well, I knew that. I thought they meant how they came up with the name originally. Tooth and Claw is one of my favourite episodes. : )
(And no, they didn't visit Queen Victoria. Her guards nearly arrested them and she demanded they join them to Torchwood. The Queen just realised danger would follow the Doctor, so that's why she started Torchwood, to defend the Empire against alien threat. And Captain Jack didn't really take over it, he's just in command of the Welsh station.)

I am very tired of all the romantic connotations in Doctor Who, which is probably one of the reasons I liked Donna so much. Though I loved Martha as well, I can't decide which one I like better. Martha went from amazing to bland, Donna went from annoying to amazing.

Easter special spoilerX

That was also what bothered me the most about the Easter special, I guess. Though I can understand why everyone falls for the Doctor, haha.
