**Live thread live!**
I am soo addicted to Doctor who, I am looking forward to seeing the new Doctor (Matt Smith), although David Tennant is going to be really hard to surpass. |
Feeling out of the loop not knowing what this Dr. Who is? Inside joke or for real? :yumeh2:
|
Doctor who is a British scifi that started in the sixties
|
Christopher Eccleston is by far my favorite Doctor never really cared for David Tennant's portrayal and I don't know how this new one will be.
|
LOVE!!! Doctor Who :)
Been watching it sense Peter Davidson was the Doctor way back in 1982 Man, I'm old lol While Peter is still my favorite, I do so love David Tennant's Doctor:) I am currently buying tons of Dr. Who on DVD and have all of Tennant's run and now have right at 25% of the classic Dr. Who run (which is about 5 years worth of the 25 years it was on TV) Love the running... lots of running ;) |
I preferred Christopher Eccleston Doctor at first too but then David Tennant's Really grew on me. I really like Tom bakers Doctor as well as Colin Bakers.
|
I liked Christopher [9th Doctor] better than David Tennant [10th Doctor]. Mostly because I fell in love with the idea of him...I adore his style, his flare. I really didn't care that he looked older than Rose. He was simply a wonderful Doctor....or to quote his own catchphrase...he was FANTASTIC I cried like a little kid when that ended up being his last line in the series. "Rose...you were Fantastic...and you know what? ...So was I!" Now I'm not saying that David didn't do a great job. But I just could never take him as seriously. I get that being with Rose had changed him, but...ugh....he seemed like he was thrown in for comic relief half the time. And if I had a dime for every time he's said the word "Brilliant" ...I'd be a rich woman. I miss "Fantastic" As for the new Doctor...the Eleventh Doctor....I'm not at all sure how I feel about that yet. He's definitely younger...a bit cute...but I've seen an interview he did....and he seems awfully...bland. Like he's not up to the task. I really don't think he can fill the Doctor's shoes at all. Certainly not enough to garner as much of a fan following as David Tennant has. See I think that part has been key over the past few years, through the 9th and 10th Doctors. He's changed, but he's so....spastic, and animated...lively. Both Christopher and David delivered this kind of persona perfectly in their portrayals. Since the 2005 remake of the show, we've all come to know and love a Doctor that's full of life, energy and witty lines. A man of such vast knowledge and phenomenal strength of character.... Christopher made it look good, and David has spent the past four years working his way into our hearts...I really don't have that much hope for this new guy...but I will try to be optimistic about this. And god...I was so mad with the way Donna Noble's story had to end. She'll never know that she's one of the most important people in the whole of creation. But I guess I am happy for Rose. She got exactly what she'd been fighting so hard for. As for Martha...damn, I never really gave a damn about Martha. To me she was just an annoying git that made me wish Rose was back. Donna was delightful to watch, mostly because I love the actress that plays her. I can never remember her name, but she's an incredibly funny comedian. Catherine Tate? I think that's her name. I loved Donna though, she made the lack of Rose almost bearable. And then when Rose actually went to the alternate version of Donna to make her see how important she was...I loved the whole thing. I was beyond thrilled to have Rose back, I'm sure most people were. And somehow I don't think I have it in me to ever feel this fondly about any other 'Time Children' the new Doctor will undoubtedly stumble upon. I'm really trying to reserve judgment...it's just really tough. I get the feeling I'll cry again during the 10th Doctor's regeneration though...How to say goodbye to David, even if he is just one tall, skinny, walking witty...thing? Le sigh... |
I found Donna really annoying, she was great, a perfect fit for the tenth Doctor, I wasn't a fan of Martha either.
When it comes time for his regeneration I know I'm going to be holding back the swell of tears, I'm really not looking forward to seeing him go. I'm going to be sooo mad if the new guy is disappointing. |
Not many Martha Jones fans out there are their?
I loved Rose, not doult about it but, she wasn't my favorite Companion. For that you have to go back to the old school seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) Ace (Sophie Aldred). One of the few companions that felt they needed to protect the Doctor more then they needed the Doctor's protection. Besides, who doesn't like a girl with bombs? Also to me, Rose lost alot when David took over. They just never seemed to have the same heat that she had with Christopher Eccleston. I just didn't see them loving each others the way I saw Christopher and Rose. I felt Donna was the perfect companion for David's Doctor. They were just so funny togather and both could bring a tear to your eye over a group of caged Ood. Saying all of that, I HATED T-TOTALLY HATED how her run with the Doctor ended. They more or less redid the way they ended Rose's run with the Doctor by the whole "She dies but doesn't really die" story. I was honestly ready for her death. She was going to die a hero that saved all of creation. And very likely remind the Doctor that even he has limits. Donna was robbed of a heroes' death and given a "death of character" so she would live a life never knowing the Doctor. To me, it almost makes the Doctor a villian. He stole from her the life of meaning she had always dreamed of just so he wouldn't have to live with her death. VERY SELFISH! Martha Jones is likely my favorite of David Tennant's companions because she doesn't have the awful ending that Donna had or the lack of chemistry that Rose and Tennant had. Plus, she was a hero time and time again with or without the Doctor. She was a self made woman that wasn't needing the Doctor to make her a great person. She was a hero all on her own :) |
Just been watching the trailors on You Tube for "The End of Time" the next one of this years specials and it looks really good. Watched "The Waters of Mars" on bbc iplater yeaterday. It has put me in a Dr Who mood now, so i deciced to see if their was a topic for it on Mene and this is what i found ^^.
I see most of the talk before hand on the topic has been about tennants steping down. Anyone getting excited not its just over a month away and the stage has been set up nicely from the last episode they aried. Also the return of a proper season coming up next year? |
dr who is awesome. i love rose, it kind of sucked at the end of this season though.
|
I've got to admit there is something about David Tennant as the Doctor which is very attractive. I'm not an avid fan or anything, but I like to watch it when it comes on. I think it's very well written and I'm always in suspense through out the episode. The only thing that annoyed me about the series was Donna - but maybe thats just because I don't like Catherine Tate. She has a weird face. :S |
Melancholy, you have very bright text ^^. Anyway yeah i agree with you i wasnt a big donna fan either, though to be honest i have seen much of the season she was in. I think from my new set of season my favorite episode is "Girl in the Fireplace" there is just something about that episode that works.

Did any one see The Waters Of Mars? I thought it was good up until the ending. I'm not sure I liked what the Doctor became at the ending
SPOILEROtherwise I'm excited about the Christmas special =3 |
I have not been fortunate enough to catch any of the new series. I was most certainly a fan of the original series though (cheesy as it was lol). I would have to say that Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor of the lot. ^_^
I suppose it's time to take measures to see the newer one lol! |
Six: youre right he was a bit like that, The waters of mars was a nice run up to this years special. Like i said its what im looking most to for christmas.
Pork: if you havnt been able to watch any of the new docter who then have a look at BBC Iplayer, not sure if it can be used out side of the UK. Anyway you should be able to find some episodes on there and stream. It just depends if they are being shown on BBC at the moment in england, im not so sure. |
Who else has seen the latest special - Water on Mars? What did you think?
SPOILERI DON'T WANT TENNANT TO LEAVE AFTER THE NEXT SPECIAL!!!! |
David Tennant *drools*
...I apologize for drooling on your forum =^_^= |
Wow not that active. But c'mon Eleventh Hour premiered last night! Whole new Doctor whole new show! I'm excited. Matt Smith embodies the Doctor. This whole season looks, to quote a kindly gentlemen in a blue box, Fantastic!
|
I haven't watched it since David Tennant left. (Other than re-runs)
I must say, I'm a little...heartbroken. I also like Tom Baker as the Doctor. ...That scarf. |
I am such a bad Doctor Who fan! I completely forgot when the new season was starting! I must watch all missed episodes and play catch up, STAT!!
I was in love with Nine and Ten. I'm hoping the Eleventh doctor will live up to the mighty legacy left by all those who came before him. :) I've become so accustomed to David Tennant as the Doctor that I'm a little heartbroken too, but I have to respect his decision to move on. That being said, I'm ready to give this new one a chance. Though he has a LOT TO LIVE UP TO! |
I believe SPACE is playing the specials now.
Just saw a commercial for the new season of Dr. Who coming to SPACE. Totally can't wait. Didn't think I'd like the new doctor at first but the last trailer he looked pretty decent. I will miss Tennant though. |
doctor who is an amazing show i absolutely loved christopher eccleston as the 9th doctor and david tennant as the 10th doctor i even got my boyfriend to like it.
|
Once you see him in the first few minutes you won't be so worried about liking him or not. He definitely lives up to the part.
Preview of Matt Smith's Doctor |
Thank you sixkiller that just put all my worries of the new doctor away. I can't wait til this comes to SPACE.
