The 10th Kingdom

The 10th Kingdom.

I love it, it's really the best out there. I've had the DVD for about 4 or 5 years and I enjoy watching it OVER AND OVER AND OVER again (even though it's about seven hours long altogether). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_10th_Kingdom

firedragongt 04-28-2007 02:20 AM

I never got to finish watching the movie, sadly. I was really enjoying it too.

KittyNip 04-28-2007 03:18 AM

@KittNip - Click on the link provided in my first post. It'll tell you who the main characters are in it. ;3

vampyface69 04-28-2007 01:56 PM

i watched the series and absolutley loved it!!!!
i had no idea there was a film!
is it dated before or after the series?
was it made before or after the series?

bslayer 04-28-2007 09:15 PM

Same questions as Vampy. I watched the miniseries and taped it all, and I still love watching it from time to time. I really hope there is a sequel eventually, I just love Wolf, he's an awesome character ^^

sychobunny 04-28-2007 09:42 PM

Looking at your wiki article, the movie and series are the same. They just took out all of the openings for the home version. Its classified as a miniseries because it didn't last a full season- just half of one time slot wise.

I'm a mega Wolf fan! ^.^

  • Ohhhh, I remember this movie.
It would come on every tuesday or something like that and it would be an hour every tuesday.

It would stop and next tuesday it would pick up where it left off.

I've enjoyed the movie and didn't know they put it all together on a dvd.

Charisma 04-29-2007 12:35 AM

I LOVE this mini-series. Right after I finished watching it when it aired, I got my parents to buy the package with the book and DVD set.

Alegretto 04-29-2007 12:49 AM

Oh man. This was one of the few awesome things my college roomie showed me. It was the last night before our midterm projects were due (which, naturally, we left off until that night), so no sleep was already imminent. She popped that in, and it was a real fun watch. I really enjoyed it, but not to the point where I'd rush out to add it to my DVD collection.

sychobunny 04-29-2007 04:25 PM

Oh, theres also a book. I hear its better than the mini series. I got it for christmas, but I haven't had time to read it.

Cyndel 04-29-2007 06:23 PM

Oh yeah, I've got this one! Haha I like Wolf and Prince Wendell. I have no idea how many times I've watched it, but I can always watch it again. ^^

King 04-29-2007 10:43 PM

I love that to! Seeing all the fairytale's under one movie.

ronneh 04-30-2007 04:50 AM

i've only seen the first three tapes to the series. :<

i had never heard of it 'til a friend threw it in as background noise in her basement while we were doing makeup or something. i was more entranced by the tv than anything else.

[secret wolf fan here too!]

does anyone remember the singing ring wolf got the main girl? [hell if i can remember her name. :/ ]

THAT THING WAS SO CUTE. xD

Jennifer 04-30-2007 07:54 AM

Her name is Virginia in the movie. ;3

RING;
There's no doubt and there's no maybe the three of us are having a baby. Yippee!
How I long to linger, on your sweethearts finger!

Ooh, do you have the author's name? I would love to read that book. :D

  • OMFG. I LOVE The 10th Kingdom.
Not many people have heard of it. It is such a beautiful movie though; I love how they twist a bunch of fairy tales together.
I wish I could have a ring like the one Wolf gave to Virginia, and I wouldn't mind spending a day in that town with all the hearts too. o 3o ♥

I haven't seen the series of The 10th Kingdom, but I'm trying to find if there is a DVD set of them (so I can purchase them). ;3

The series and the movie are, indeed, the same thing. The miniseries was five parts, ten hours *with* commercials. Take out about fifteen minutes of commercials per hour, that brings it down to around seven and a half.

I loved it when it was on TV, got it on VHS, and was disappointed to find that a couple of my favorite scenes were missing. Later on I found it at a little video store on DVD on sale for $15, got it, and it was the complete miniseries, including those couple of scenes cut from the VHS I'd bought.

One summer, I watched it once a day for a whole week because I was so bored. I love this miniseries and it's totally my favorite miniseries of all time :)

sychobunny 05-02-2007 06:45 PM

The author is Kathryn Wesley.

Wolf made my heart go 'pitter-patter' that's for sure. He's a cutie. I loved the head troll, though, too. They were all so funny, and I think the scene in the village with the sheep and the Shepherdess contest was my favorite. Pretty colours <333

AuroraBoreas 05-03-2007 06:33 PM

The Shepherdess contest was really, really awesome, I agree! I'd have such a tough time choosing a favorite scene. The scene with Wolf and the psychiatrist was so, so funny. The mushroom island scene in the swamp, with "A Whiter Shade of Pale"... Wolf and Virginia's date... The Bacon Scene...

Oh, for general reference, if you want to buy T10K and you want to make sure you have all the scenes on your version, just check the running time. If it's 417 minutes long, it's whole and entire and you aren't missing a single scene of the fun.

10th Kingdom was such an amazingly awesome movie. <3 Never read the book, though a friend has and she said it was great though. I'll have to pick up a copy, even if it seems pretty hard to find.

I wish I could have a singing ring. D=

I've never found a copy actually for sale or in the library. I borrowed one from someone who ordered the movie/book set from NBC. It really was great. There were some things different from book to movie, like the matter of the magic goldfish. It's been a while, though, so I can't remember exact details.

Pretty much your only shot at getting a copy would be through second-hand bookstores or used copies from Amazon.com or eBay.

bslayer 05-04-2007 07:11 AM

I'll keep an eye out when I get home to Minneapolis. Plenty of second-hand bookstores to choose from :D

Ohh I want to see it sooo bad xD Just dont seem to get around it ><
