They are definately doing a remake of Nightmare On Elm Street, I saw the ads for it and I have to say I am looking forward to it coming up, though I am afraid I would have to agree that Freddy Kruegar wouldn't make a good Pennywise, both if those actors have entirely different stage presences. Like I said, I don't know who would make a good enough Pennywise to match my expectations.
It would be quite interesting to see who they cast in the new film, for comparisons to be made between actors and roles etc etc :)

Ohhhh It. It is like one of my favourite movies, but at the same time I hate it.
It's been my life-long fantasy to see a good remake of it. Of course, no one could beat Tim Curry's Pennywise, but I think fixing those goddamn terrible actors, that screenplay and the ending would be worth it. Maybe we could get Tom Waits to be Pennywise?
My real idea for It would be a graphic novel. It could be the scariest graphic novel ever. Like, Pennywise could subtly be in every frame. I would buy that in an instant.

An IT graphic novel would make for an interesting read true enough.
You didn't like the acting? Fair enough I did feel that the ending was a little anti-climactic but I thought the acting was pretty good, well, for when the film was made anyway, you have to take into account that expectations for movies were different back then.
I actually would really like to see someone totally unexpected to play Pennywise, like Kevin James or Seth Rogan or even Jack Black. They would probably murder the part but it would be quite interesting to see their take on it.

Kevin James and Jack Black no. But for some weird reason I can see Seth Rogan doing it quite good. Maybe I just wanna see Seth as a dancing clown. Who knows!
Unexpected? Micheal Cera! Didn't see that coming did ya? In all honesty you could totally bring Curry back.
Graphic novel would be awesome. Though considering he could change forms Pennywise(I prefer saying Pennywise to IT because IT leads to confusion even though Pennywise was but one form.)
Of course the acting was terrible. I mean it was the 90s. 90s acting was terrible. Terribly awesome that is!

Hmmm I suppose we'll have to wait and see if it's any good. Here's hoping.

I love Michael Cera too, he would be quite cool to see play Pennywise. Of course though, who doesn't want to see Seth Rogan as a dancing clown who has murderous tendencies?
Oh that sounds hopefull, 2011, I shall make a mental note of that :)

being from maine, i am a little biased when it comes to stephen king... i mean, the man is practically my neighbor... anyhoo... i have only seen the movie "IT" and have not read the book, but i was genuinely creeped out although it didn't make me scared of clowns... it did however make me super scared of drowning and water and the like... well, only for a short time...
i think that this was the start of all the "doll" scary movies... i mean, look at what came after, "child's play 1 through 43856893" and the one with the little puppets (i forget the name :() and many others...
anyways, i did think this was a spooky watch, but i think stephen king did some other stories MUCH better *cough* salem's lot *cough*
oh yea and "dreamcatcher"?? completely terrible... i saw it in the theaters with a jumpy friend and she startled me more then the movie... also DONNIE WHALBURG!!??? what's up with that?

Spasmodic, the acting was terrible, you kidding me? Well, the child actors were actually surprisingly good, by film standards. But the adults were all so... made for TV. I know the movie was made for TV, but I just wish that it didn't have to be in that lower level of quality. Some of those actors were just plain terrible. Here's my example: The cocained talk show host one. The showbiz flunk. A bunch of his 'funny' moments are funny because they're just not funny. I watched the commentary for It and they said he improvised a lot of that stuff and it was just sort of an "Ohhhhhh" moment for me and the people I was watching with. =P
IT REMAKE HOLY CRAP.
That made me so excited I had to edit my Facebook status. If I was a famous movie director, It is the number 1 movie I would want to do if I did remakes. This better be amazing.
Linnea, you mean like, Chucky? xD

Chucky is in that genre of hilarious horror. I have no idea how scary it actually is, but if you think about it, it's hilarious. xD

i think i was about 8 or 9ish when i saw the chucky movies for the first time, but i have always loved scary movies... anyways, i remember laughing at them thinking they were so ridiculous... and that was when i was so young! i mean, come on, they couldn't even scare a 9 year old girl with those silly movies... and the fact that they kept making more and more?! talk about a glutton for punishment...
(also i made kind of a booboo... the first 'childs play' movie came out in 1988 and 'it' came out in 1990, my bad :(.... but 'it' is by far the more popular choice...)
but if you know what chucky is you can kind of see the similarities between that doll and the clown from IT... if my memory serves me right, the clown manifests differently to each of the kids in the story... and tim curry as the clown? amazing choice! he was perfect in that part... but i love him anyways :P
also i read somewhere that they are making another 'it' movie... more like a remake i think... in 2011
should be interesting

I have to say I love the Chucky movies, you can't knock Child's Play. Fair enough Seed Of Chucky & Bride Of Chucky were pretty big fails in my opinion, but I do love the first three. The best line has to be:
Quote:
|
"Don't F**k With The Chuck Because The Chuck Don't F**K"
|
That is brilliant!
Anyway, yes, I didn't think that the acting was that bad in IT. Personally I do think that the guy playing the one with the stutter was pretty abismal, but all in all I thought that the acting was passable. Though I do agree that the child actors were really good, I loved the chubby little boy. And, seriously, you can't knock Tim Curry's acting, he is like a genius, I won't here a bad word said against Mr. Curry (mad fan girl when it comes to Pennywise or Frank.N.Furter)
Yeah, I swear, the new IT better be fricking amazing. Though all in all I am still against re-making IT. It is a horror classic, why try to re-do the magic? That would be like re-making Dirty Dancing or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. They are classics and need no tampering with. That is the same feelings I have towards IT.
I do like some of Stephan King's work though, Salem's Lot is amazing. I really liked Carrie as well though, I am pretty sure that was him, the eerie walk at the end was brilliant. It was filmed backwards :)

Spasmodic, that line strikes me more as hilarious than brilliant. Maybe like, brilliant for being hilarious. Not scary though. xD
I don't get you guys. The acting was passable, but last I checked, nobody's proud of 'passable'. =P Tim Curry was brilliant though. Everything about the character was perfect. I mean, Tim Curry was terrifying, but even the make up was the perfect balance of real and monster.
I am delighted that they're remaking It. The first thing I thought of after I watched it was that it could be remade really awesome. I'm just afraid they won't pull it off. I mean, It's a classic, definitely, but to me it's only Tim Curry that makes it a classic, and though it's a shame to lose that, the rest could be so much better.

Child's Play was like... straight up comedy for me. I can't take it seriously especially not with Chucky there.
Well. Englund made Elm Street (I abbreviate A Nightmare on Elm Street as Elm Street, or occasionally nightmare) a classic in my opinion. But new Elm Street will be lacking him so we just have to put our faith in the casting directors and hope they know what they're doing.
And again I say. It was the 80-90s. Acting WAS bad. And that made it awesome. Cheesy Horror movies are awesome. Maybe I'm just weird for that but still.

Well, that stuff WAS scary to most people back in the 80s because it was still relatively new. The level of gore etc that we put out today would likely have put people into apoplectic seizures back in the 80s!
Today it just looks cheezy because we have "new" and "improved" movies to compare it to. (Hello, desensitization!)
I love horror movies and was never afraid of them as a child. I remember all my classmates and friends saying how scared they were of clowns because of the movie IT and it never bothered me. I collected Venetian masks! ^_~ Kids around me were petrified of clowns but it never fazed me. I even used to watch the B movie Killer Clowns From Outerspace and laugh at it when it petrified all the other kids. =shrugs= Even now it's rare for me to find a movie that will even make me jump. Sad, especially considering I WANT to find a movie that'll do it. Mostly, though, I find a lot of current horror movies too cheezy and hilarious to take serious. Or I consider it absolutely awesome (though, that's been none of late.)
Generally, though, I love Stephen King movies/books. I didn't know they were making an IT remake, but I'll be sure to watch it! Either to be amazed or disappointed, but hey, I love watching bad B movie horror flicks of all types so all's good.
I also plan on watching the new Nightmare on Elm Street remake, but no one can ever truly replace the mastery of Wes Craven and the brilliance of Robert Englund. ^_~

Ya. Lack of Craven or Englund makes me a sad S'venny. But I saw it on... Third night. Pretty decent. Not as good as original. And seemingly less character driven.
Your post was full of truth but I had to quote those two parts xD
Ya. For it's time it was scary I guess. Old classics are great though. I don't really care for the looks of the gore. About the story, characters, and killer.
Clowns never scared me either.
and I'm also looking for that one movie to scare the hell out of me too.

I know this is only kind of related, but have either of you seen Orphan? I watched that recently, and it's just utter crap. The ending was thoroughly entertaining though, in a hilarious kind of way.

It had a decent ending. Still not as good as Sleepaway Camp.
Although. The Orphan was lame with a twist ending where Sleepaway Camp was good with a twist ending.
On topic wish they'd give us some news on IT remake.
Only news I can find is that it's Rated R.

Rated R... I don't know if that's good or bad. That might mean they're making it really gory, which I'll hate. xD I really hate gore.
In fact, I hate horror films. I'll probably die if It's any good, because I'll have to go see it in theaters. Maybe I'll go for a matinee.
