The Dead Poets Society!

I was sobbing by the end of this movie! I loved it so much. Robin Williams played such a powerful character in this movie.
While watching it I thought of a similar teacher I knew. He never was my teacher, but he taught english in the same way. He also created a thing called Mischevious Poets, a group of of students who played innocent pranks on the school to make people think in different ways! I loved it so much! I was a member, once!

So what did you think of this movie!?

padfootsy 11-15-2007 10:41 PM

The Dead Poet's Society is one of my favorite movies of all times. T.T I cry every time I see it, even though I already know what's going to happen.

Clair Voyant 11-15-2007 10:43 PM

Yes, I get what you mean! I cry when I watch movies that I've already seen! I think it's because you love the movie so much and almost get connected to the charcters and when something sad happens to the charcters, you cry!

pillow_maiden 11-15-2007 11:22 PM

i've heard of the movie, but i've never seen it.

Clair Voyant 11-15-2007 11:26 PM

You must watch it!

pillow_maiden 11-15-2007 11:32 PM

Smellerbee 11-15-2007 11:42 PM

Edit.

Clair Voyant 11-15-2007 11:55 PM

I was so shocked that he actually killed himself! I thought Newanda was funny!

I saw most of this movie in English last year. We didn't get to watch the whole thing, though - unfortunately. And I sorta forgot what happened. We were told to write a paragraph comparing ourselves to characters, and saying which ones we were most like and why.

I do remember liking what I saw of it, though~.

fuyumi_saito 11-16-2007 06:59 AM

Yes, and people say he can only do comedy. That is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was very sad, but I loved the movie.

wow, it's been so long since i've seen this
movie, it's incredible.

i remember first seeing it back in the 7th
grade, i was in awe. robin williams played
the role so well. i always wanted to join
in a group/club like this, it seemed so
welcoming.

I must say, Robert Sean Leonard is by far my most favorite actor.
I find it really neat that all the time during the movie, Neil's father wanted him to become a doctor.
You'd get what I'm saying if you watched House. ;D

Clair Voyant 11-18-2007 02:42 PM

Water_Bender 11-18-2007 02:55 PM

hi

Clair Voyant 11-18-2007 03:10 PM

Hello Water_Bender, have you ever seen the Dead Poets Society!?

manic monochrome 11-23-2007 12:28 PM

i LOVED this film.
i was sobbing when RSL's character killed himself. D:
it was such an intense movie.

Clair Voyant 11-23-2007 01:12 PM

I know! His father was so strict but he didn't want to kill his son! I wonder how he felt after that! He would obviously know what happened and why his son had killed himself!

stopwatch*love 11-27-2007 03:55 AM

Oh, wow...this brings back memories.
I had been told over and over again that I had to see Dead Poet's Society, but somehow I never got around to it until one day I came home from school on a Friday, flicked on the TV and there it was! The only real reason I stopped on that particular channel in the first place was because I could've sworn I saw Wilson, from House. I was so confused at first, but my confusion must've been nothing compared to my dad's. When he came home about an hour and a half later, he found me on the couch, sobbing and whimpering, 'Wilson! They killed my Wiiiiillllson!'
(because I couldn't remember Neil's name xD)
Anyway, my oddness aside, the movie really is beautiful, and touching, and hysterical. I can't wait until we watch it in English, even though I know I'll cry my poor little eyes out.

sidums 12-26-2007 06:57 PM

I started watching this movie when I was in seventh grade. I got about half way into the movie when school ended, I never got to finish watching it. What I did get to see was truly an amazing movie! It was so inspiring and touching. I just wish I could get the chance to finish watching it. :(

EbilKitty 12-27-2007 12:00 AM

I've seen it many times, but for some strange reason I hardly remember anything from it... Guess it didn't make that much of an impact on me.

MasterChiefrei 12-27-2007 04:13 AM

I love this movie also. >w< I watched it in my English class with my favorite teacher of all time. She is so funny and knows a lot about media but she's very memorable and knows how to make sure we remember what she taught us. At the end of this movie when we were all done being teary eyed she gave us an odd look and asked us if we would stand on our desks and shout, "Oh Captain, My Captain!" when the 8th graders, who were touring our school at the time, came by. We all looked at each other and grinned. Once the 8th graders started to come around one by one of us we shouted, "Oh Captain, My Captain!" and these kids were freaking out. XD She was an awesome teacher and was a lot like Robin Williams in many ways. She made us think, asked questions that couldn't be answered right away, and was hilarious to boot. ^ ^ The movie was amazing of course and our teacher made it more memorable.

That movie was really solid gold.
