I'm reserving my judgment until I actually see the movie. If it's anything like the Dragon Ball live action movie, I'll be severely disappointed.

I honestly can't say I'm waiting for this movie to come out.
I'm sure they're amazing actors, but honestly, what's the point of really calling it Avatar when they barely look anything like their show counterparts? It doesn't give off the same feel like how the show did. :[
The show itself had a lot of Asian influences, but putting pretty much everyone as Caucasian just kinda...kills it.

I'll just C/P my comments from imdb. It was about "Things you DON'T want in the movies"
- The Earthebender mailing system: At least not having them jump into one of the rock carts and ride them around. Do a bit of running to get away from guards, and then just get to King Bumi (if he is in the movie later).
- Zuko flashbacks and HONOR: The movie should focus on Aang mostly. All the audience needs to know is Zuko got burned and his father banished him, and he's very emotional about it. Hint that he has a sister is evil and his mom is gone, and leave it at that.
- The chase: I doubt there will be time to introduce Azula and her team, and then getting that metal machine to chase Appa. Too time consuming.
++ I think the Earthbending from Toph (if in later movies) should start within hours after meeting the Gang. Yes it is a departure from the show, but you have to think about the pacing of the movie.
++ For the Library, there shouldn't need to be a long journey to find out about the eclipse. I doubt they can even fit this into the movie, or even have Appa be captured, it is just too complex and time consuming.
- The Serpent's Pass: Lady delivers a baby, nothing major to the storyline.
-+ Ba Sing Se: I am trying to picture how the whole "living in a city within a city", can be done in the movie, without being boring. Aang still has to learn his bending skills.
Probably skip a bunch of things and have some narration about how they have been living and such. skip skip skip. Find out about the Guru, go back the Temple to learn about Avatar State.
- The Painted Lady: As much as I love this ep and Katara's outfit. It needs to be skipped. It focuses on Katara's skills as a bender and her sense of compassion, but it doesn't give insight to Aang.
-+ Sokka's Master: Another "is it possible to fit" ep. Again, the focus is off Aang. There is some filler time when the characters shop for stuff, and find a rock etc etc. Sokka should go to Piandao instantly. Perhaps just make Piandao someone who openly teaches anyone; so no need for the "Sokka is learning" montage.
- The Beach: Just a filler mostly, and it lets the characters relax, but the story needs to move on.
-+ The Avatar and the Fire Lord: Great episode, but no time for it. It would be nice to mention Aang's previous life though, and what happened, and how the whole Fire Nation started to rise.
- The Runaway: Toph cheating people out of cash, nothing major.
- Nightmares and Daydreams: Aang can't sleep and has hallucinations. Funny, and lets you know that he is nervous, but it doesn't move anything along. It is like The Beach ep.

I heard of this. I haven't finished watching the series. M. Knight is good. But I just don't think I can watch Avatar in live action. To me that should stay animated.

If you want the movie to be a shallow, cheesy action movie like the recent DBZ live-action then this would be fine, but I think most Avatar fans want more than that.

You'll have to explain your reply better than this. Cause I don't know what part of my post you are replying to.
I never seen DBZ live-action.

ok...i saw every episode i love the series. but the trailer so far doesnt look that attractive if you know what i mean. of course how the actors look isnt what makes a movie but its a real bonus. i mean i always pictured zuko more rough and aggressive looking not so much as a pushover kinda look. and anng looks way to.....determined. still cant wait for the movie to come out tho x]

I saw the trailer for it. Aang looks pretty epic. But from friends of friends and etc, I heard they might have a mainly white cast? Which would kill the diversity that's in the actual cartoon show. Who knows, maybe it'll turn out okay.

I hope they focus on the one vs one aspect that Avatar has, with the kick ass water/fire/earth/air bending.
I think the worst way to go wrong is to have a whole bunch of ships fighting and Aang trying to get away whatever, like in the trailer.
[email protected]: I don't think they should focus on JUST Aang. Really, in the series, his own past was rather point forward and not as complex as the rest. Especially considering how long ago his past was and how uneventful. I think a few minutes backflash would do it justice, just to get the peace of lifestyle Aang comes from.
But they need to go into Katara and Sukko's past, since that's quite a driving factor in the storyline.

I also heard about the new Avatar movie from my brother, the youTube buff. He showed me the trailer for it and I thought that it looked incredibly epic.
For the actors, I hope that the director pulls a lot of unknowns for all of the roles, because I think that trying to fit any famous, known actors into those roles would not only be hard, but it would also leave a lot of people upset and unsatisfied.
As for the direction, the best thing that anyone could ask for is to stick to the original. Like most directors fail to do, following what made the material a hit in the first place, makes the movie a bust.

When I first heard about it a while ago, I did the exact same thing. I looked it up right away! I am super excited to see this movie. I really hope that it doesn't turn out to be a flop. They could do a look of good things with this movie and yet it would be so easy to make it wrong. I love Avatar and I'll have ot try to not be TOO critical when it comes out. :)

Considering that Katara and Sokka are Eskimos, they would probably have a native american look to them. (Asians aren't that dark skinned.) Zuko, Toph and Aang need to be asian though. But it's doubtful that they actually will be.

I'm actually scared. I LOVE the show, but I think the actors they picked for the movie don't fit the characters AT ALL.
But I guess I'll watch it to see if it really sucks, or if it's good. Can't wait 'til it comes out.

I'm not looking forward to this movie actually. I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD to rent it. The fact that the TV show only just recently ended makes me believe this movie is going to be extremely rushed. Yes, it would have been in the works before the show ended, but that's the problem. I highly doubt the direct or script writers were so highly in love and devoted to the show to do the movie any justice. So many movies are coming to theaters these days based around cartoon shows and books and very few are actually impressive.

There's a teaser trailer out right now, and it looks HOT, but I'm worried about casting.. IMDB has a cast list out, but unfortunately a lot of the profiles don't have any pictures associated with them. Katara, slotted to be played by Nicola Peltz, doesn't look right to me. And the Slumdog Millionaire is going to be Zuko, so eh.
Still, though, I'm beyond excited for this movie.

I think I am going to give it a chance with an open mind. Maybe it won't be so bad considering I thought they could of done the casting a little better.
