Die Hard DB/DBZ fandom all the waaaaaaay!
I remember losing my mind six years ago *yes that long ago* at the possibility of a Dragonball/Z live action movie but eventually lost faith after 3 years of hearing nothing else about it. But that didn't stop my friends and I from picking out actors that would be perfect for the roles. XD...cuz we had no life. Although I don't think Emmy Rossum would make a good Bulma I'm hoping she can pull if off. And for some reason I always saw Piccolo being played by an African American actor...now sure why. XD Anyways, besides the Gears of War movie I will probably die from hardcore obsession after seeing the first trailer for this. XD I just pray this does well so future DB/DBZ movies can be made. Is Akira Toriyama going to help with the writing at all? And I'm also not a fan of Goku going to school because Goku isn't Goku without the lack of education he had besides what Granpappy Gohan taught him. XD *remembers episode of Goku finding out girls don't have tails or balls. XD That was hilarious* |

XD Yeah, she doesn't have the endowment or the attitude in my opinion but maybe she wanted a challenge...I wonder if she ever watched Dragonball/Z as a kid. O.o That's what I hope they interview the actors on if they get the chance.
I think why I saw Piccolo being portrayed by a black actor is because the attitude he has comes naturally to actors like Michael Clarke Duncan, Wesley Snipes, and Terry Crews. Personally they have the umph a white guy can't handle. XD J/k My hopes are that Mr. Toriyama gets to do a little bit for the movie since he's the best. >w< Maybe he can talk them out of making Goku what he isn't because they might try to make him appeal to the "now" kids. ><; Like making him care what he looks like or whether or not he's "popular". ><; That'd be embarrassing...too bad it's too early for Gohan. *I love that episode, I need to get the entire season of Dragonball at some point. As for Piccolo, I was very happy with their choice, because Marsters is good at playing a jackass, but he's a bit moopy (at least I thought Spike was at times). When I saw that Ernie Hudson was going to be in it, I wondered why he didn't get Piccolo. He certianly has the body type for it. But...meh...I like Marsters. ^_^ We'll just have to see what they do with Goku... I have a few Dragon Ball eps. on VHS and I have the seasons 1-3 of the remastered DBZ. I'm waiting for season 4. |
That's good, I'm glad she's excited about doing the movie at least and I'd be excited to work with Chow-yun too! >w< Course he's a bit husky *kudos to friend* for Roshi but he's a good actor so I bet he'll be fine.
As for "Spike" I know he's good for what he does but he always came off as "mousy" to me. He did good on Buffy but as Piccolo...I gotta admit, now that I've had time to think about it I really don't think he can be Piccolo. Not only does the actor need the body he needs the mindset and I don't think Marsters can do it. I know he has a big fanbase but I'm for what's best for the actual character. They better not screw up Goku. XD And I'm waiting for Season 4 as well cuz it has teh Trunks. >w< After that I'll save for the first three seasons. |

Haha, yeah, I heard about the live action movie. My friend, who was also a fan, thought it was hilarious that James Marsters is playing Piccolo.
I'm not sure if I'm going to go see the movie when it comes out though. A part of me says "don't do it! don't look back!" and the other part says "watch it! waaaatch it!" |
I was watching Tree of Might last night and I noticed that James Marsters might not have the body, but he does have the face.
It seems that a lot of people don't like James Marsters for the part because of his height and body type, but if you look at his face structure and Piccolo's face structure...they are quite a bit alike. Does anyone else think that? Or is it just me? |

I won't see it because it's not my cup of tea but some might. A lot of people liked the show at one point and the might want to see the movie. You never know might make a bit a money. Some people would go to see what it is like just to see it.

I'm excited and concerned for the movie at the same time. I was a big X-Men fan and the movies, especially the 3rd one really were a let down. I'm not sure how I feel about them ruining my childhood again. And I'm not sure if it's a rumor or not, but a friend of mine told me Goku will be attending high school and that he's the type of "loser" kid who no one likes. I hope that's not all true, but if it is... I hope it's not too lame.
I mean, Goku is too cool for school. He wouldn't care if he was called a loser. But I'll see it in theaters because I was such a fan of the books and the shows. :D |

Texas Battle is rumored to be a bully that picks on him and well...eventually get is butt kicked for it. Chi Chi and Mai will be in a fight scene (which should be cool) and I assume Chatwin and Battle will have a pretty big fight scene as well. Wong is great at fight scenes, so he should be able to pull it off. |

When I first heard of this, I thought it was going to be stupid. However, I finally saw the cast and it looks great. (OMG! Emmy Rossum is going to be in there. I love her!) I thought Transformers was going to be horrible but I was completely wrong. (it was one of the best movies of the year!) I can't wait to see/hear more information about it. [/size] |
@ vg_goddess02: I think the casting is decent. Not the greatest, but it's not going to be a cheap movie. The writing alone cost Fox Films $500,000. Marsters was told that the whole film will be over at least 1 million. That's not including the cast payments and such.
@ Takuto: This probably won't make one of the best movies of the year (a lot of good movies are coming out this year it seems), but it will make a decent mark. At least I think so. Just check in here from time to time, I'm always looking around for updates and posting them. ^_^ I've been trailing this thing since Fox Films got the rights to make it. ^_^ |

@Sagitar: I'm a Piccolo fan girl. >.< I hope it doesn't get postponed. It's set for August 15th and I hope it stays that way. I'll be very let down if it doesn't. I know I can keep a thread going for a while, but not too far past August 15th. I'm not that talented. >.<
@Din: Well, it was thrown aside for a long while after Fox Films bought the rights. I don't think they thought it would make enough money, but honestly...anything with the name Dragonball will make money. Whether it's a good movie or not. Just the fact that Dragonball is in the name will bring in a large fan base that is curious. |
I doubt the movie will actually be any good, but I still wanna see it. I'm a huge DBZ fan. My and my friends always debated about who would play Piccolo in a movie and we choose Vin Diesel.

this is so cool, i want to watch it but then i kind of dont want too because...i really cant imagine how they would do their hair. my favorite character is Goku and Gohan (sorry for the mispelling), i love that father and son.
this is scary, i cant really imagine real people to be in their hair, it kind of impossible, [well, not really, i dont think] and if then dont do the hair and all the tranforming then it going to be really suck. i hope that they go all out and make it really good and hopefully better then Sailor Moon live action. [i like it and all but Serena hair look totally fake and it get annoying] |

My. God. O_O I am so going to go see this when it comes out!! I loved the Dragon Ball original series soooo much! The others that came later were okay, but their plots were non-stop fighting, whereas Dragon Ball had real plot and funny gimicks! Heh. I really can't see Justin Chatwin as Goku at all, but I guess as long as they get his hair right and make him buff up ALOT, then it'll be all good. We just cannot have a skinny Goku or even a skinny muscles Goku. That guy was always built like a tank! And I do hope they dye Emma's hair for the part, oh please oh please oh pleaaaaaaaaaase have aqua or purple hair for the movie! And at some point wear the half shorts/half pants pants, as an homage to the show. XD Even if the movie blows and is disappointing, I' am so going to have to go see this! |
after Transformers ended out so well I'm willing to go see it. I loved Dragon Ball so much as a kid, its what got me into games, anime, Japan and probably set me on my career path.
I hope they don't kill it >_< |

They have Vin Diesel as one of two choices for Piccolo. @torhu_anime: Don't worry too much with the hair. It's a DragonBall movie, so there won't be any transformations. They said that Bulma will have the right hair color and the director thinks that Justin's hair is long enough not to have to put a wig on him, but it won't be nearly as tall as in the cartoon. It will actually fit with the bodies. @rampartte: Goku is like a tank, but not as much in DB as in DBZ. I think that's why they went with a DB movie instead of a DBZ movie. Less fighting and not as many bulky characters. Emma's hair will be a blueish color. That's already confirmed. @Cho Cho: I know they will kill it and that a lot of people won't like it. So many fans will whine and cry because it's not the same storyline as the anime/manga. But I'm sure as a movie it will be fine. Like Queen of the Damned. The book was great and the movie was good, but the movie isn't good if you think that it's connected with the movie. Just one of those things that you have to forget that it's connected with something else to make it good. ^_^ Transformers was awesome. Can't wait for the second one. |

Personally I rather watch this chinese live action version of Dragonball where the Dragonballs are accutally Dragonpearls as it sounds hilariously corny. And America gives everything it dose a American version of a death touch according to all the reviews for the remakes of asian horror movies. But I'll watch it hoping it dose good. :) |
