Avatar, Dragonball, and now...
There is going to be an Akira live-action movie!
It will be two separate movies and will follow more closely to the original Manga than the animated movie. The rights were bought by Warner Brothers and they plan to have the first movie out by Summer 2009. This is going to be awesome. What do you think about this? Do you think you'll see it? Do you think the live-action movie will be good? I think it will be epic. |
*scratches back of head*...maybe the anime industry is having too big an impact on America. O.o I really love anime and whatnot but...then again Hollywood is running out of creative original ideas so I guess they'd resort to anime eventually. *sigh* I will admit that if they pull this one off it will be freakin amazing and as far as Akira goes *anime and manga* it's all doable. I'm just concerned with who they'll pick for characters and who's going to be directing.
Right now I'm just freaking out about Gears of War 2 and the movie coming out for it. >w< A real Dom? *faint* |

I don't think I'd see that in theatres, espeacially because of the end what happens to buddy. Bleh. It was sorta interesting and gross to see it happen in animation, but real-life? Ew, gross me very very green. |
I would say dont hold your breath for it being good. Hollywood isnt the best at remaking things. generally people just get mad because of how horrible of a job they did. But that is just my opinion.

I don't know if this was a good Idea....Bringing comics or animation to life hasn't played very well in many cases..Has anyone heard that they are doing the same thing to Speed Racer? Probably no one cares because it's so old but I really hope they don't disgrace Akira or Speed.

I saw a trailer for the Speed Racer moving last time I went to the movies. Granted I never watched Speed Racer...but I can already just feel that cloud of doom rising. O_O And I know they've been talking about doing a live-action Eva movie for years, but no cookie yet...thankfully.

Here is how I feel about it. Everytime America dose a remake of a asian horror movie it gets negative reception by people.
Therefore I'm scared with any remake of anything from Asia. |
The first time I ever saw the Akira movie I was pretty young and it confused and scared the crap out of me. XD I was like, ewwwwww he blew up into a giant bubbly mass!
Heh heh, I get the story much more now and I'd be interested to see a movie, live action or anime, follow the manga more closely! So I can't wait to see it! <3 |
I would just like to note that Avatar is actually a North American anime. So, for the purposes of this argument, it doesn't hold water ;)
I heard rumours about the Akira movie, and I think that it would be really cool! I would see it for sure, but only after I gather intelligence on it. Haha, I haven't seen the anime in ages, and can barely remember it! I think God of War will be an experience to watch, that's for sure. I don't think that I will see that in theaters though. Most likely, I will watch it if I get bored one day ;) |
Whoah! The idea of having an Akira live action movie is awesome. But I'm worry about the quality. Not many anime turned to movie ended up great. >.< Most of them ruined the original stories and characters. And the actors? If they're all played by westerners, specially the main characters....Big ouch! Akira was a phenomenal breakthrough in Anime/Manga world. So many nowadays famous mangaka and animators grow up from being inspired by Akira. All I can do is crossing fingers, wishing that it will come out as something that at least decent enough and up to the quality standard of the original story. o.o |

Just kidding. Hm. I think this is a bit going too far. Have we completely lost ideas in movies that we have to go to animes? Hm. I'll probably still watch it. I'm glad that they are going to go to the manga edition rather than the Anime one. |
A live action Akira is so awesome. I've seen the anime plenty of times, and I simply love it. Though I'd wish that they had stuck to the manga plot line more. If the live action one is going to then thats even better. I'm excited to see the motorcycle chases. Whats better than high speed motorcycle fighting. Nothing. Little off topic but thats the movie that inspired me to learn more about motorcycles and just mechanics in general. :D
I really hope it gets the budget is deserves. I'd hate to see it flop because the graphics and effects weren't the greatest. So excited to see it in 2009! |
