Anyone else addicted to Television on DVD?

I'm more interested in buying televion shows on DVD now than movies. I prefer watching television shows... these days they're much more stylised than they used to be and I like the ongoing story lines.

Also, they're easier to watch!
Do you like to get full seasons of television shows on DVD?

ya im more of a cartoon girl.
i cant stand tv shows with real people.
all the plots are too much the same or just boring
or make me go "yaaaaa" click.

although
the only ones i really watch are the black and white ones.
I love Lucy, The Munsters, and so fourth.

Although i have found Australian shows to be very good.
good enough to buy on dvd.

but i focus most of my time on cartoons and movies for my dvds.

Animated movies or shows?

I love Futurama and Family Guy... especially Futurama :)

I can't wait for Satisfaction to come out on DVD, with the writers strike in the US, Australian shows have had a chance to shine... and shine they have :)

I hardly ever buy my shows on DVD because they're often too expensive and packed full of crap special features that I don't care about.

So, I usually just download each episode of my favorites as they come out. Seems about as legal as recording them to a DVD or a VHS tape directly off of the TV, so I figure I've got the moral high ground.

Alas, one of my hard drives took a dump, so I don't have my csi back collection, but at least I have season 8. :)

I do that occasionally to Kinmotsu, if I really like the show though I will be the DVD set.
I do the same with CD's too... if I like an album I'll buy it, I like having pretty cases :)

I've been working on gathering all the Seasons of Scrubs because it's hard to catch all the episodes in order now.

If I like the show enough I will go and buy it on DVD to get the whole experience.

Well, I do have a couple of series on DVD. They're Dead Like Me (both seasons) and Heroes (Waiting for second season to come out of DVD).

I'd probably invest in more if I had more money. xD One series I'd really like to get is Planet Earth.

Most of the dvds I have are of television shows. When there's nothing on the television I want to watch, and I can't be bothered to watch a film it's nice to be able to watch something I like for an hour or so. I would also argue that some of the extras on dvds are good. I love watching deleted scenes and outtakes, especially for my favourite comedy shows like Black Books or Red Dwarf.

Some televsion dvds are just too expensive though. For the new series of Doctor Who they release a dvd every three or so episodes for about £15-20 and then an end of series boxset for over £50. I got the entire first series of House for £15 -_-

If I really like a show I look into getting it on dvd.

I currently have..
Miami Ink collection 1
Miami Ink collection 2
Miami Ink collection 3
(I need to get collections 4 & 5 but I am waiting for a decrease in price or the boxset to be released)

Girls of the playboy mansion season 1
Chasers war on everything series 1 (part 2)
Chasers war on everything series 2 (part 1)

Urmmmm...I know there are more I just can't think of them at the moment.

I know!! Doctor Who is SO expensive!! It cost me $80 to buy Season 3 and that was cheap... so frustrating!
Torchwood is the same, I wanted to get Season 1 but it's $101 for the whole season... boo! Why are they so much more expensive? :(

I had this as well until a few days ago! I love this show... I want the newer seasons but you can't seem to buy them here yet!

I enjoy television show dvds, except for the cost sometimes so I try to wait until they are being cleared or on sale.

If a show is still on the air and I can watch it at different points on different channels I don't tend to get them. Shows like Stargate Atlantis which is shown on three different channels (in 3 different seasons) or Smallville I see no point to. Or if it's still shown and I've seen it all like Heroes.

The ones I tend to get are shows which the series has ended or they are no longer on the air. I have Firefly and I want to get Stargate SG1 and Wonder Woman. Plus I enjoy watching cartoons that were on when I was little over again. I don't care about getting the special sets with all the extras so if I can track down a reasonably price set which I want to watch the show I get it.

I love getting full seasons/series of shows on DVD... the only problem is that it tends to be a lot more expensive than just buying a single DVD... although, I guess considering how much more enjoyment you can get out of them, it's worth it.

A DVD these days tends to be $20-25.. and a TV season package could be anywhere between $30-70. If I had the money, there're a lot of shows I'd like to buy the DVDs of... Quantum Leap, more MST3K, Arrested Development, NewsRadio, Freakazoid, etc.

I, personally, don't have any TV shows on DVD yet. I'm hoping to get the first season of Third Watch soon. I'd never not have something to watch if I had that. I love me some Bosco. <3 I was getting frustrated that it hadn't been released even though the series ended in 2005 or 2006, but it finally came out in February. Now, I just have to get the money for it. The cheapest I've found it is about $60 where I live, and they only had one copy. I hope they're not out when I do go there with the money. That would suck.

I don't really like buying television shows on DVD. It's a tad too expensive for me and I could just wait for the show to be on TV. Unless you have one of those cable boxes that can record shows, that'd probably be even better than having it on DVD. Dunno, that's just my opinion.

I love getting television shows on DVD, I've been buying more TV shows on DVD than actual movies.

The main show that I get on DVD is "The Simpsons" so far I have all the box sets, can't wait until Season 11 comes out. I also have all of Angel and Buffy, all the season so far of Lost, House, Heroes and Bones... and I can't wait for the rest of those seasons. :) I also have Futurama and some others, kind of forgetting names.

The only TV shows I have on DVD are anime, so I guess it doesn't really count. I would probably buy House if I had the money for it. I don't really watch that much TV though, so there isn't a lot I would want to buy.

I prefer watching most television series titles on DVD, too, majorly because I'm too impatient to wait for the next episode (chuckle). Then again, I'm picky with what I watch so it also depends on whether I like the series or not. So far, I have the complete seasons of CSI (except for the latest), some X-Files (which I stopped watching, was getting boring), some other titles I forgot.

Most of the time though I don't need to buy. I just borrow from my uncle (he's a freakishly avid DVD collector) or my sibs.

I'd rather buy TV shows on DVDs than movies too. You get more usually. Plus I get to see things that aren't on TV alot. That is when I get more DVDs. I don't have much of anything. ^^;;

I don't like the schedules of most channels. They just keep repeating the same stuff over and over and it's usually not anything that I'm interested in.
