Wow, they have a MANDATORY 10 days! You should be very thankful. There wasn't a "mandatory" anything for new dads back when me and my husband were active. They could put in for leave and that was about it. You know there's a very old saying: if the army wanted you to have a family, they would have issued you one. Each generation in the military gets easier and easier.

I also have much less sympathy for pregnant women than most as I had two babies while I was active army. You got a profile from PT, but not much else unless it was deemed medically necessary. You weren't coddled at all and from that I learned that a lot of complaints pregnant women have aren't really justified. It's rough, but it's not nearly a "handicap" as many pregnant woman would have you believe. I'll say this though, military docs suck the big one and so did military hospitals when I was associated with them. I didn't realize just how bad until I had my last child after my hubby retired. I got civilian docs and a civilian hospital. WOW-what a difference!

Sorry for the crappy attitude, but I come from a different time. I have my peeves and the "mandatory" 10 days being made to sound like a hardship pushed my peeve alert :lol:!

Well of course me and my husband only enlisted last year, well me two years ago. It's only the fact that yeah things are different, but I didn't actually ask for them to ignore me as a pregnant military woman LOL

And tricare covers all my stuff so I am good at a good hospital I am an army brat, I think I am ok with any kind of hospital LOL
