I always found new such a rip off. I'd buy old editions for really cheap for my books when I knew the class wasn't going to use the questions for class at all. Newer editions rarely change much other than the order of the questions at the end of chapters (at least that's what I found with science books). I never really even used my textbooks enough to pay so much for them... Well except organic chemistry. I actually used that one so much the cover started to fall off... I think I read everything in that book and highlighted the bejeezus out of it PLUS did every practice question I could and all the extra stuff... That class was a pain.

Usually would buy my books used. Some were impossible to find used though. I still have everything - all the way through grad school. Every time I think they've all been put up, I find another one. Kind of like cockroaches, but not.

I kept my math books, but sold my others back to the book store.
