who was the person to coin the term the gilded age?

Ugh, my lappy is lagging up a storm.

Was it Mark Twain?

Gothic Romantic 08-09-2009 06:32 PM

I'm not much for American history. Bleh.

And aye, Versailles (heh, that rhymed) Epiphany is my favorite as well from that soundtrack.

*takes her compalining elsewhere*

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:33 PM

Not a fair question it was Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner

TWO PEOPLE :]
they wrote a book together.

Winter Wind 08-09-2009 06:33 PM

ZOMG
I LEARNED THAT IN HISTORY C:ASS.
xDDDD

Clair Voyant 08-09-2009 06:34 PM

Hello, everyone.
What's up?

Hatake Ayumi 08-09-2009 06:35 PM

Haha, Mr. Briski taught me Mark Twain. Mr. Briski and Vers get the point.
xD;;

Wait, I need to take a small break after my computer just spazzed.

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:35 PM

Hullo Clair.
I'm personally not doing much, but I'm sure someone else here is multitasking and has something interesting to day.
how about yourself?

Versailles 08-09-2009 06:35 PM

Winter Wind;
^__^ I remember that too~

iSteve:
Yeah i realized that as well. But i wasn't too sure if i should write that down or not because of the word 'person'
XD

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:37 PM

yeah.
It's always best to be safe and give too much info rather than not enough.

Gothic Romantic 08-09-2009 06:37 PM

Well, you could always ask the '-gry' riddle. But that would be unfair considering I know all 5 of the 'gry' words well.

Hatake Ayumi 08-09-2009 06:39 PM

gry? What's that?

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:39 PM

what's they gry riddle?

also: when do you guys think they'll release the hints about the event items?

Probably soon. o;

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:41 PM

good good!

I can't Perform for anyone in this thread, who's stealing all the work? :[]

Winter Wind 08-09-2009 06:42 PM

I just performed for you iSteve.
xD

eCrink 08-09-2009 06:42 PM

Oh hey Hatake. :3
I stumbled across your thread. Glad you didn't have to hijack any.
How goes it?

Gothic Romantic 08-09-2009 06:43 PM

Here is how the riddle goes:

There are three words in the Enlish language that end in -gry. Two are hungry and angry. What is the third word? If you look carefully, you'll find the answer.

The misinterpretation of the riddle is 'language', seeing as it's the third word in 'the English language', but that's wrong.

The word the riddle implies is the answer is 'gry' itself. But that's not the whole of the question. In fact, there are 5 words in all of the English language which end in '-gry'.

Hungry
Angry
Gry (as in the gry of a pig)
Gry (as in a British measurement for 1/30 of an inch, I believe)
Aggry (a prehistoric bead)

Winter Wind 08-09-2009 06:45 PM

Wow.

Never heard of that riddle.
x3

Clair Voyant 08-09-2009 06:45 PM

Gothic Romantic 08-09-2009 06:49 PM

When you're brilliant and bored, you learn random things no one really cares about. XD

KOREAN WAR!

iSteve 08-09-2009 06:49 PM

The war on drugs

edit: I think that's wrong.
I looked it up and got this:

"The Forgotten War" (capitalized) typically refers to:
The term forgotten war is also sometimes, though much less commonly and less specifically, used to refer to:
