My friend went to Japan for the year. XD Her exchange family had to kick her out to another family. I felt so bad for her.

Thats realy a lot. But not much of north Europa it seems hm?
I want to go to Japan as well. Maybe can get there as Aupair after finishied School or so. I'd be realy great. I already tried to learn the language. But it's not easy and since my course is over I got lazy about revision ._.

I said "most of Europe" - that includes northern Europe such as Scandinavia. (Although I will have to visit during summer - I'm not one for cold weather!)
I've seen parts of the US as well, but I'm missing entire regions of the country like the northeast. Maybe someday I'll get there too, but I'm more interested in traveling abroad.

I've never been to the north east, either. Just the west coast ._. My FF has no time to travel with me and I'm too young to go alone (stupid teenage years!)...

Kirsch: No problem, don't worry about it.
Yeah, 16 is a little young to be doing much traveling alone. I didn't get to "travel alone" until I was 17 - by which I mean fly alone to another location where I was semi-supervised. First time I /really/ traveled alone was when I was 19.
I've seen parts of the West Coast. I like it.
Update on the avie: submitted a bug report about it. Just enjoy the creepiness while you can for now XD

Shim: XD I don't get it. I can go to college but I can't travel? That sucks.
Though my friend and I are planning a road trip as soon as we get the time.

My mom has always been super protective too. She still freaks out whenever I travel alone, even though now I'm very experienced at it. Getting permission to travel "alone" the first time was hard.
I think that once you are old enough to go to college, you should be old enough to travel. College is actually a good time to travel. When you get there, make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.

Well. I am not in College so when is the perfect tiem to travel for me ?!
Sorry, you may know we have a diffrent School system here in germany ^^;; and if the last 3 years of gymnasium are supposed to be equal to college then I doubt that it is the right time to travel. but only of its the same which I don't know

Money is evil. My student loans hate my travel addiction.
Kirsch: I heard that it is common in Europe to have a gap year of some kind in there, where young people take time off of school to do something different for a year or two - like travel. If you have that, then that is probably the best time for you to travel. Or - does your gymnasium offer study abroad programs? You could spend a semester abroad somewhere while still getting credits towards graduation. That is really a good way to travel and learn a lot while you are over there.
Bishielurfer: Good for you. I was bored out of my mind during all my school years before college. About the only thing teachers seemed to know how to handle bright students was to just assign them more busy work I swear . . . . x.x

I never heard of a "gap year" whats that supposed to be?
You can go abroad while school but the year is not always accepted then and you have to repeat the year when you are back again.
The only time for traveling then are holidays. But during school, I'd say no, because below class 10 you are not old enough. You might skip class 11 but you may have to repeat as I said. And I'd never go abroad in 12 or 13 because those are the most important classes in gymnasium

gap year probably means that many decide to do something like "freiwilliges soziales jahr"... or they just want a year to relax and be lazy and become stupid while forgetting everything they ever learned XD

Guten Tag DieTotgeburtDesZeus! Yeah, I'm lacking money too. Scholarships and student loans is how I manage university, and study abroad.
Kirsch: A "gap year" is where you take a year off from your studies to do something different, usually getting some kind of experience in the real world, and then you return to school afterwards. Some people travel, some volunteer, some get a job, etc. When spending a semester or a year abroad, it is always important to make sure the credits will transfer before choosing to go. Some programs work, others don't. I'd never go for one that didn't give me credit.
