I never got the overqualified talk but probably because I've never gotten interviews like that. I'm not sure, maybe its s good thing I've only ever been interview for graphics positions.

Yeah, well, it doesn't help that I (almost) have a masters in WILDLIFE SCIENCE. There aren't a lot of positions around here that have anything at all to do with that.

I'd like to go for a masters but don't think that I will. It's nice. for me, it'd be a terminal degree. But I just don't like how MFAs work at all. I don't want to research and then write about art. I want to DO art.

Yeaaaah, I tooootally understand that. I'm lucky....I managed to work into a non thesis MS degree. Sooo nice not to have to do research.

I honestly haven't done any research in a long time. I'm not sure I know how anymore. In some ways I feel like it's silly. research and research and then get professors that say you can't say anything new on your own. The whole thing makes no sense to me. And then i wonder, at what point is someone finally qualified to say something new without needing to cite 5 or so people who've said it before? Sigh.. I dislike english classes, if you can't tell. I'm so glad I've tested out of all of them. I only had to take 2 because testing out doesn't equal transferable units >.<

Haha, well, science research is a bit different. You can say something new if you've got the data to back it, but you do still have to do a literature review. But I still hate the researching and the writing and the experimental design. ARGH.

In neuroscience I didn't have any research to do either. except for o-chem lab reports and that wasn't research to prove any points really just research to show that the steps of my experiment would work for whatever I was trying to accomplish. But those labs were boring. (I had transferred as a neuroscience major before I caved and decided to go with what I really loved instead)

Oh yeah....Organic Chemistry labs. Hahahaha. I got smart and took O Chem lab 2 during the summer so I could get those labs done as fast as possible. I hated watching stuff boil.

I hated distilling all the time too! i wish i could have taken them in the summer but summer tuition costed more with no financial aid except for loans so I never went in summer.

My grants extended to summer sessions, so that wasn't a problem for me. Luckily.
Yeah, I am not a patient person, so empirical chemistry and I don't work well together. I'm fine with the theoretical stuff. I'll titrate on paper all day long. Don't make me use that stupid drip, though!

really I only went to UCR for a yeah and 1 quarter. I broke after that. Looked up art schools a second time and felt stuck because tuition costs for art schools are all in the 80ks and some don't give you the security of a degree. I wanted to go to gnomon so badly but it;s one of those 80k, no degree schools and I don't trust their statistics. They say 99% placement for graduates. but.. how many graduate? how long does hat placement take place after graduation? and what IS that placement? is it a paper pusher at dream works or are they an artist? and those questions they would never answer.

Smart of you not to trust that. Unless they can answer those questions, I wouldn't trust them at all.

Awwww, *hugs* I'm so sorry Birdie! Do you want to talk about it, or would you rather have a distraction?

i my experience, movie days at school meant candied popcorn and orange juice as snacks. i miss those days. lol. Only movie i've seen in school lately was helvetica. Granted, I like that movie and generally always find something new in it.

I'm still debating brining in cupcakes or not
