I've always lived in the suburbs, or been out in the country for new years. Lots of fireworks, never gunshots.

Thunder freaks me out too. But that is mostly because I know lightning comes with it. I used to be genuinely phobic about electricity. Not so much anymore, but it is still scary to me.
