Snake is really easy and fast. I play Snake while waiting for a round of Attack of the Fangirls to finish. I play the games in between posting.

By posting. The longer the post, the more gold you get for it. However, this does not mean you can post all kind of nonsense within a post to get more gold, that's spamming.

Further by playing games. Preferably those you're good at.

Then there is joining contests. Usually userrun, but there are some staff-run contests as well. If you win, you can win quite a bit of gold or items sometimes.

Then there are things like selling art, most often avatar art or banners for threads.

Or, if you have some gold to start with, you can buy items in the exchange for a low(er) price and selling them higher. This is called exchanging. You can also buying items relatively cheap when they're just released, preferably more than one, hold on to them for (quite) some time, then selling them as they have increased quite a bit in worth, also called hoarding.
