@ Pip.. no not insinsetive.. you are doing a paper you are asking the questions the way you should for a paper.

I feel that if people were made more aware that not all people with the disorder are a danger then maybe there would be less stigma.. I mean people accept depression and ADD and such with no nothing. But if it has a name that sounds like Schitzophrenia.. then they freak out and are like ohh so you hallucinate... and you are going to go off the deep end. They also confuse it with MPD (multiple personality disorder) And in fact the two are nothing alike.

but i will tell her this if you don't tell me what you want then i will get you something anyways and then i will just be hoping it will be something useful to you! so are you going to have me waste a money on a not so great gift or are you going to tell me what you want so i can get you a really good gift! and make sure it's in my price range!

I used to pick scabs. There was something horribly satisfying of seeing blood swell into a tiny bead and then run. My mum always threatened to put plasters on every single finger. But she tried the positive way, if I didn't pick for a certain amount of time, I'd get a reward and so on. I don't pick anymore, buy maybe because at the moment I don't have any scabs to pick.

she wants the Morning Dreams Ribbon and Midnight Dreams Ribbon. I'm going to get her one as I'm very close to being able to afford them.

I recognize almost all of this. -hugs- Even still, while most people don't see it, in some cases self-harm is the best of the available choices. Yes, it leaves scars. Yes, it is unhealthy for your body. I'd say it is still a lot better than committing suicide. Some people just don't see that it is not necessarily a choice between the best and worst, but that you have to pick between two evils, and that self-harming can be the least evil of your choices.

I smoke. Now, I get daily comments on how I should stop and whatever. Since I started smoking again, six months ago, I've had only two panic/anxiety attacks and three hyperventilation attacks. Before I started smoking again, I had at least one every week.

But because they don't see it, they only keep going on about how it's bad for you.
I'd rather have my lungs harmed forty years from now than panic attacks which can cause me to more-or-less accidentally KILL myself. If I have my lungs harmed in forty years, at least it means I am still ALIVE then.

Which one are you going to get her jo? I don't want to get her the same thing.

Oh I see, so a full and clear explanation of the stages. A lot of people in my class don't even know what schizophrenia is exactly. I'm not against people who have such conditions, because I know that they didn't choose it and it isn't their fault. I suppose, if you find the real person beneath the condition, then everything will become clearer. I think you are a sweet person, and I think that people should listen to you, no matter what conditions you have. I think that you most certainly are a good mother, and I think those that don't understand have to be taught to understand.

@ Sil.. I smoke for the same reason. >.< I don't know it just calms me down.. I know its Bad for me or whatever but hey I am not feeling like my train is going off the rails when I do so to me thats better.

@ Crow.. I have been there with the self harm, and well just because you harm does not mean you are suicidal... sometimes it is a way to gain control of your emotions the pain snaps you back ya know.

@ Pip.. I think the were born with it comment is one over used... I mean there are most types of mental illness that you are born with and they can be dormant for years and years and then there are the other mental issues like PTSS you know stress and horrible event induced.

Ivvy: Exactly. I'd rather smoke than get a panic attack while at my bike and end up under a car because I lose control about everything, even my own body, and am unable to see clearly.
