I don't know what we're having for christmas dinner. My grandma is making it though. I'm also baking a lot of cookies to give people. We're making snowballs, chocolate chip, Italian cookies, brownies, and sugar cookies. We might make more than that depending on the time. So far I've made three of the different cookies we need. We're giving them to our neighbor who always gives us food, aunt and uncles, and grandma and grandpa

Me, my grandma, and my great-grandma are cooking for lunch tommorrow...I have all those pumkin pies done :)

I found it quite easy, and its a lot of fun. The hardest part, though, is making all the walls stay up. You have to let the walls sit (we had one wall lay flat down, and the used cans to support the standing wall and let the icing sit for awhile) for a long time with the icing on them so that they can dry enough to attach the rest together. But once you get that done, the rest is easy peasy. :] |
have you made anything nice this year, or do you plan to?
- So far I made 14 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange at my church, it was fun, but yet tiring, and I'm pretty bad at baking, so I was afraid I would ruin them all. But I did get some help from an older lady from the church who loves to bake. Oh and I just started the turkey for today. What're you having for Christmas Dinner? Who's making it? - Suprisingly I am making the Christmas dinner this year, it not much, but since my parents didn't want to go anywhere this year I volenteered to make the food. (like a miny gift to my mom.) I'm planning on making Stuffed Turkey, Green Beans, Mashpatatoes, bisciuts, Jellied Cranberries (eew), Pasta Salad, and homemade gravy. Hopfully it all turns out alright. |
Well... Christmas dinner is happening twice for me. Once tonight with my mom and sister, and then again on Saturday when my mom's family is all in town. And then I get to have a massive family dinner at New Year's with my dad's family up in DC... Not sure what we're having--I've a bit out-of-the-loop studying abroad--but I'm sure it will be good!
Haven't done any baking yet, but maybe I'll do a bit today. Sugar cookies do sound nice.... Normaly, my family doesn't do a ton for Christmas. We used to when we were kids and my parents weren't devorced because my dad is the one who did a lot of the holiday cooking. And when they did split, my mom, my sister and I spent Christmas with my mom's family in St. Louis a lot. And now that both my sister and I are in college.... the whole big Christmas thing has just crumbled a bit. |
We're planning on making cookies today and tommorrow, but thats about it, I really wanted to make a gingerbread house this year though. :/
|
I bake tons of cookies every year! My favorite is Pecan Sandies, yum. I also make Peppermint Pinwheels, Spritz, Citrus Slices, Cream Cheese Fudge, Chocolate-Dipped Orange and Raspberry sticks, Molasses Crinkles and Lacy Lucys. I also do all the cooking for the New Years party, we always make an asian-themed menu, Including Candy sushi for desert!
|
So since I am snowed in...my Christmas meal went from the traditional holiday foods to scrambled eggs with onion, tomato, and green pepper :( Where oh where are the mashed potatoes, noodle soup, and oh so good pumpkin pie!
|
Every year, my mother and I make fudge. This year, I had the idea to make chocolate-mint fudge... it turned out delicious.
Tastes like Christmas! |
Instead of having Christmas dinner we have Christmas lunch. XD Being a vegan I was able to eat fried okra, sweet potatoes, and corn. But there were also two different types of pie, a cake, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, something purple, muffins... and that's all I remember.
|
I made pumpkin bars the other day and I'm planning on making snickerdoodles later this week. I love these cookies. I haven't gotten a chance to make sugar cookies. I'll try to make some later also.:O
|
Oh I love my brother and my grandma even more! Okay, so my brother got me out of my snowed in home towards grandma's farm...but we got stuck half a mile away and walked the rest of the way.
So I got my traditional foods: mashed potatoes, gravy, homegrown sweet corn, home made rolls, hotdogs, pumkpin pie (from scratch)...and could have had more except after treking thru drifts I was cold and tired :) |
It's not really baking but every Christmas morning we have hot chocolate with candy canes, it's delicious
|
The best holiday food ever is my mom's broccoli dish which is basically two big cans of cream of muchroom soup, milk, and loads of cheese sprinkled over steamed broccoli and topped with french's fried onions. Yummy.

Every year I usually bake for all my family & neighbors- sometimes it's bread (2 years ago everyone got a loaf of cranberry walnut cardamom bread), last year I made 3 different kinds of cooks and everyone got a mix of them - this year I ran out of time
Christmas morning I was at my Mom's house & trying to bake cookies- but she was missing 1 ingredient form every recipe I found :gonk: We finally called a neighbor & borrowed some ginger from them so I was able to make some gingerbread cream cookies- turned out pretty good and I took them to the big family dinner for everyone to enjoy. |
Hummingbird cake and pecan pie. Mmmmmmmm
|
Mmmm, all I can think of when Christmas comes is cheesecake. The food of the gods, I tell you. Mmm... So amazing.
|
on christmas eve, we have a sausage with some german name I don't quite know how to spell xD;; and on christmas day we have turkey :]
also, today I went to my boyfriend's house for dinner with his parents, grandparents and aunt and uncle, and his parents made a reeeally delicious dinner ^w^ we had turkey and ham, but it was SO GOOD O.O it has changed my perceptions of turkey xD also, the potatoes were reeeally delicious...I'm not sure what they were cooked with, but it tasted amazing! <3 then, of course, my family did no baking of cookies because everyone gave us lots xD;; so we have waay more than we need :P not that you could EVER have too many cookies xD right? |
Every year growing up my grandma would send us fudge and we would bake our traditional breakfast casserole. I haven't been able to have either since I moved out. I'm trying to get the breakfast recipe from my dad and I'll have to ask to get some fudge next year.
