@Andriod that's a very valid point. there's always those white creases where the paper is folded, and the tape always pulls up the design @Insanity It just makes the tension worse when they open it slowly, it's more like, "Hey, I can wait to open your gift, because it's probably not good." Or at least that's how it feels. @akinmytua I think it really is a factor on how nice the paper is. I tend to wrap my presents in brown paper, to keep it from being so interesting that people don't want it to tear it open. |
It drives me nuts when they carefully unwrap so they don't tear the wrapping paper. It really bothers me when they then say "I love this paper. I want to save it for later." What are they really going to do with that paper. Throw it away that's what.
|
o.o; I don't really mind either... I mean, its just opening a present... Its their present, they can open it any way they want. Yanno? It seems kind of overbitchy if you flip out because they're opening their present a certain way...
I, myself, open my presents slowly. o.o; Even if I end up losing the wrapping paper, it just feels more polite to open slowly. And I like being neat. |
actually, besides the tree is the village scene...both are important :)
|
@Lucid, I can tell you I know I never was. They are just wild because their mom doesn't care what they do and they get away with whatever. But it's all ok. They gong to bed soon. I will have peace and quiet.
Oh my mom collects village figures. Dad buys her one every year (although she usually ends up with like 5 new pieces). |
If it is covered in paper and tape, it needs to be wriped open, but anything else can be saved if you want. It just depends. We normally save the paper and use it to start a fire in the fireplace.
|
@Lilith Or put it in a junk drawer and forget about it D; @Dystopia That's a good way to look at it ^ -^ To each their own~! @Maiden O: I totally forgot about that. . .Probably because my family doesn't decorate very much except the tree. . .^ -^;; @Mehimaru Thank goodness for that - __-;; I couldn't take it. @Readera That's a good idea ^ -^ |
I don't make too much of a mess when I open presents. I also try to be tidy with the wrapping paper. Though to be honest I don't see the point of people who don't recycle using wrapping paper. I mean, its like..why wrap a box? why not just put a bow on it, or color it? why bother wrapping it if it's already in a box and the owner can't tell what it is?

I would say the most annoying thing about the holidays is the fact that they start advertising Christmas around Halloween sometimes. It's probably why I think that holiday music and the holidays are so annoying.
@fuyumi: My brother wonders the same thing, except he thinks we should just not wrap the presents because someone is just going to tear the paper off anyways. |
Well I don't rip the paper. I unwrap the paper so I can save it. I never found either way to be good or bad, just my preference.
|
The faster they rip it off the more they enjoy it.
|
I try not to rip the wrapping paper...but that's just because I don't like the feel of the paper ripping. makes me feel kinda sad that I'm destroying something so pretty :[
also, I like to take the time to appreciate my mom, because she wraps everyone's presents, many of those not from her, but every present is as neat as the last. I appreciate my mom ^_^ also, I get very frustrated with wrapping >_> I prefer it if the person at least takes time to look at the wrapping paper I chose and how hard it was for me to wrap it (like hot wheels cars...their packages are NOT made for wrapping up xP ). |

I think the ones who take forever are more annoying, I love watching people tear thru it and the joy and excitement on their faces.
We recycle the paper so having it shredded doesn't matter, it actually makes it easier to package it up for recycling. |
I wouldn't necessarily say one is worse than the other. I prefer to unwrap it carefully so that I can reuse the wrapping paper next year, hence save a bit of money when I don't have to buy another roll of wrapping paper, but that's just me. I can see how unwrapping a present carefully would be a bit annoying to others, but again it's all dependent upon the person. Some even find the carefully unwrapping to be amusing at times.
|
I dislike it when people rip the paper off like it's nothing...Mostly because it gets shredded into pieces and I find some of it under the couch a few months later...Plus, if you wrapped something huge could always reuse that paper *cheapskate*
|
Pffft. I don't think one should get their panties in a knot over the wrapping of the gift. Don't over do it, and you won't stress yourself out when it's opened quickly. I mean, it REALLY shouldn't matter if one goes about opening the present in a manner that puts the condition on the wrapping paper, to the way side. The most important thing to me, is their reaction to the gift, especially if I put in a lot of time and thought into getting/making/ getting & "editting" the present. I've never encountered the problem before but...I guess a slow unwrapper MIGHT irritate me more, only because I REALLY want to know if they liked what I got for them. c ': |
I think that sometimes people put too much into what the gift costs and how it is wrapped. A gift should be from the heart, like something that they want no matter if it is cheap and how you wrap it does not diminish what is on the inside or how they will think of you. Commercialism gone crazy. |
No offense to anyone, but I kind of find it annoying when people take their sweet time while they open their gifts. The wrapping paper is going to get thrown away anyways, you might as well rip it. I understand you need to be neat, but removing the wrapping paper inch by inch is wasting my time and theirs.
And if you don't want them to rip up the wrapping paper (because you spent so much time wrapping it), just buy some tissue paper and gift bags. Takes less than 5 minutes and it still looks pretty C: |
probably the people who just rip open the gift, especially if you're the kind of person who takes forever trying to wrap them anyways.
|
Hm, to me it's those taking their sweet time, if it was just between me and them, not so bad but if its a ring of people its bad cause my family takes turns at who opens a present.
Personally I'm one to shred them most of the time, but depending on the size and knowing who wrapped them I can sometimes be a little more careful. |

I would have to say the ones who rip the paper to shreds are the worst. D: I mean I feel sorry for whoever has to clean up that mess.
|
I'm the kind of person who sits there trying to just slit the tape neatly with a fingernail and get the paper off all in one piece. 9.9; My family likes to take their time opening our presents though, so I don't think I'm annoying anyone. Personally to me, if somebody took the time to wrap something (especially if it's in addition to putting it in a box or bag--so there was no extra need to wrap!), I should take the time to enjoy looking at the paper and having the experience of opening it.

You forgot to list Perverts and mistletoe's that's what I think it worse.
