I hate all x-mas songs.
|
"Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" seems to be a pretty unanimous song where the writer should either never reveal him/herself or they'll die... ^^
|
I usually stick with Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music rather than listen to a thousand different people sing Christmas songs that I don't like.
I do, however, really like the song "Believe" by Josh Gorban. |
I love the Grinch song! "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch" it is funny and you don't hear it that much anymore. But I love it anyway!
|
My least favorite holiday song is Sleigh Ride, which I had to perform once in grade school. I hated it then, and I absolutely abhor it now.
Ironically, my favorite is one that I was supposed to perform that same year of grade school. Unfortunately, parents complained about the song so we ended up changing to Sleigh Ride (probably the main reason I hate that song so much). That song is The Twelve Days After Christmas. I never fail to sing along and laugh hysterically when that song is played. LOVE IT. |
Sick of: rudolph the red nosed raindeer
Jinglebell rock Like: Emanuel (O come, O come Ema-a-a-n-you-ell) Carol of the bells |
Quote:
Awwww, you don't like Jinglebell Rock? I still have to stand up and do the electronic Santa dance when I hear it xD I once stood in the cold driveway and danced to the whole song from the car radio. I was by myself, but I enjoyed it. I don't know why I still do it, even though I have seen one of those hip-swayin' Santas in a while. REJOOOOOICE REJOOOOICE EMAAANYOUELL! SHALL COME TO YOU OH IIIS-RYE-ELL! :D We had to perform that every Christmas during our entrance into the Cathedral (went to a private Catholic school). We held candles and floated down the aisles while harmonizing. I love harmony. |
I like carol of the bells, and Christams Sarajevo (totally spelled that wrong I know). But other then that I really don't like x-mas music. I don't despise it, but after a week I just get so sick of it! I have a list of places with power and wi-fi that don't play actual christmas music. They end up being the only places I go in december. =3

I could probably listen to Christmas music year-round and not care. And I don't listen to the radio much, so I honestly don't know how long the local radio stations have been playing it. |
My take on holiday music:
Most of it is just awful. I'm talking, like... 99 percent of it. I have always hated it for as long as I can remember. As for playing on the radio for like 2 months.. whatever. Most radio sucks nowadays, so it doesn't effect me, since I don't listen to it. And when I go shopping, the music in most stores tends to be more commercial and less religious, which I like. But there are a few songs that I enjoy, such as Santa Baby (Eartha Kitt), and any orchestra's take on The Carol Of The Bells. Also, Favourite Things (Julie Andrews). Then there ar the generic songs like Blue Christmas, White Christmas, Let It Snow, Marshmallow World, Baby it's cold outside, etc. which I like by any artist such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, and even Mariah Cary and Jessica Simpson. (Though I am typically old school, I prefer Jessica Simpson to any other singer for holiday music). |
For me, I loathe most Christmas music because I work retail. We started playing it on November 1st, and there's only so many times you can hear different versions of "Rudolph" or "Winter Wonderland" or "Silver Bells" or whatever in one eight-hour shift without wanting to commit mass genocide with plastic hangers. Especially since they all looped pretty much every five or six hours so I had to hear them all over again.
I do like many Christmas instrumentals, though. Especially rock-like mixes, like the ones by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. For some reason, take out the lyrics and most Christmas songs become bearable! |
Favorites:
~Sleigh Ride ~Twas in the Moon of Wintertime ~O Come O Come Emmanuel ~Angels We Have Heard on High ~The Christmas Song Sick of: ~Jingle Bells ~Blue Christmas Would like to kill the song writer: ~Here Comes Santa Claus ~Must Be Santa |
One of my faivoiter songs for around this time of year is Mary Did you know.
|
My favorite is the old school Santa Baby. I know its not kid friendly but its still a classic and awesome <33

I really like Christmas music, but I hate hearing it where ever I go. Driving in the car, Christmas music! Going to the mall, Christmas music, Getting out of my car in town, Christmas Music blaring over the town's speakers on the telephone poles! And the music and decorations started before Halloween. I think everyone is going overboard. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I don't think it needs to "start" until December... Not in October...
My favorite would probably be 'Away in a Manger', 'What Child is this', 'Santa Baby', and 'Christmas Shoes' I hate the song 'Mele Kalikimaka', or at least the version they play on the radio continuously. The music is just about as annoying as the person who sings it, although the lyrics don't mind me. It is a pretty song. And I hate "Toyland" |
I am so with you about Christmas starting too early. It totally burns you out by the time the holiday actually is here. Plus, why would you want to see and hear things about a holiday that is NOT the one you are currently celebrating. To me, decorating with witches and pumpkins at Easter time makes as much sense to me as Christmas stuff in stores at Halloween time. I like my holidays separate, thank you. :)
As for Christmas songs, I like O come all Ye Faithful, Away in a Manger, Silent Night. |
I got sick of all christmas music, way before christmas. They start playing it way too early.
