Because we can all get time off work/school and be together :3

Well, it's excuse to be nice and hug people!
Also, everybody's nice, so it's kind of a rarity.

Well, my parents are religious, so Christmas has significance for them anyway, but mostly because my mum loves Christmas. She spends all year preparing for it, and gets really over-excited every year.

So even though I don't live with them anymore, Christmas is still a time that I always associate with being a really happy, exciting, family-orientated time from my childhood.

I like to buy and make things for my friends. I could do that year round, but it makes it something special to be able to show up with pretty wrapped gifts for the people I care about.
It also doesn't hurt to get things I like, either. lawl.

My family celebrate for the religious significance, but I'm not Christian so it's a time for gift giving and spending time with family. Although I haven't seen my family in three years now due to distance I have been going to my fiance's family's house to celebrate.

It's not really all that important to my family. I celebrate new years with my family and that's when we all get together.

In my family it's cause we want to make each other happy and spend a little time together without work getting in the way. My dad would always be working up until Christmas when I was little so Christmas day was the one for sure day he would be home.

In my husband's family its also about being together, since there are so many of them Christmas is really the only holiday when they are all in one house together. Plus, the little cousins get presents from Santa ^^
