Why
Why is x-mas so important to you and your family?
My mom always made a big deal about it when I was young and now that she is gone I make a point to make everything festive. Now it is habit.
Werll its time that I get to spend with my reletives and my family which is nice and I get presents which is sort of a relief gift for getting through the year. XD
Christmas is not important to me at all. In fact I could live with out it. The only thing I love about Christmas is being able to see my family, who I don't get to see very often. We always have so much fun. Xmas is about family to me, so I guess in a way it is important because I get to see them :)
I like the extra time I get with my family. Most everyone gets vacation time and all the relatives make time to get together.
Well, it's not. My family didn't do much of anything this year, I guess I'm kind of sad about that. We used to do a whole big thing though - tree, decorations, wrapped presents. *sigh*
It's just a time of getting your family together all in one place and having a pleasant time together. Christmas shouldn't be about the gifts, just about getting together.
It's the only time where we could spend some quality time together. By dad's usually at work and my brother and I are away at college. It's nice to spend some time with each other and catch up on things.
Its a time for religious remembrance on my end. But I try to worry about that sort of stuff all through the year, so a badly timed stolen pagan holiday is sort of just meaningless to me minus the family connections.
Christmas for us isn't really 'important', as much as it is a habit. :] We just do it cause we can. ..It's pretty much a Family fun time. Something we rarely have anymore. ^__^ |
It's not totally important to me, but I do enjoy the time off. That's my favorite part.
It was when Jesus was born...but my parents aren't Christian :'(
Well, part of it is that we're Christians. So Christmas is kind of a big deal. And the other part is that it's about the only time that the whole family gets together - especially now that I'm away at school, and only at home for summer and Christmas.
I'm not Christian, but most of my family is. (aside from my mom and my husband) I don't celebrate Christmas, but I do buy presents for people. I just like giving I suppose. Plus, it's a fun holiday for my daughter. It's also one of the few times I get to spend with my dad and his family, so it works.
It's actually gotten less important for my family I think. More that, before it was a real "let's get together as a family" event, but now it's more about other people. We still do eat together as a family on Christmas but now we go our separate ways at night. Maybe it's a part of growing up. I don't know.
It's never been a huge deal with my family, the farthest we go is down the block to my grandparent's house on x-mas morning. I remember that my sister and I used to get really excited on Christmas morning, but our family is getting older. I'm nineteen and she's fourteen, so there's no one left who believes in Santa. It's still fun though. It's basically become a giant birthday were everyone gets presents(Birthdays are done by the month in my family. I share with my grandpa and aunt the month of September)
It's mostly about family time now, which is fine by me. |
To see the family all together (well, most of it anyways) and get prezzies.
Its not very important anymore to me or my family.... since my brother passed away a few years ago it hasnt been fun or very cheerful its hard to celebrate holidays with my family, for a couple years i really tried to get everyone in the spirit but they didnt seem to want to really go all out anymore and get the family together or make big dinners.... its exhausting at this point so I dont know holidays are just another day that comes and goes with an extra little twist to the day... I thought this year would be important to me because I would be spending it with my boyfriend... but that now exboyfriend gave me a broken heart for the holidays
Christmas' importance as a whole waned for a bit with my family. We still put up decorations and such, but we treat it more like a second Thanksgiving, where we really get together just to eat, then go off to do our own thing lol. We also usually do this on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is spent just going out, relaxing at home, etc etc. Sometimes if we have the money for it, we'll exchange gifts, but since my siblings and I have gotten older, we usually end up buying what we want as a gift XD lol.
Honestly, it's not as important to me anymore, I'd celebrate a steady income and a reliable job any day over Christmas.
For me, it's all about the religious significance of Christmas. I also like the idea that everyone is a little friendlier around this time of year. At least I am, and when I am super-cheerful, it tends to rub off on the people around me. My supervisor (the secretary for the classics department) even got me a gift this year. It's because I get presents for everyone and bring cookies and everything.
its not really important it just gives us a reason to get together because we dont that that often
It really isn't. I mean, sometimes people get together. Sometimes we don't. It's more of a meh.... Specially since things go bad so often.
Every year I celebrate with my family. :) This year I didn't. :stare: The weather was too cold.
It's not important to my family at all anymore. We don't get together or do anything. My mom baked a turkey on Christmas, but we didn't decorate. She gave me some money a few weeks before Christmas. Used to, we'd celebrate with the family at my Grandma's house.
