Right After Christmas!!

So today my Nintendo DS broke. The corner with the power light just snaps off as I close it.

My dad is going to try to salvage it, but I think he thinks it can't be glued back on.

My DS still works, it can still play games, but the top screen just kinda hangs there.

My dad was like, "Ooh!! And right after Christmas, too!"

Has this ever happened to you?

Kokihi 12-30-2009 11:09 PM

aaaah, that sucks!

its never happened to me, but my sister dropped her phone in orange juice right after christmas. it broke for a while, but later it started working again. she just had to dry it out.

Which gen? 1st or 2nd?
Because the lite's (aka second gen) are stronger than the 1st gen.
Lites aren't that prone to breakage, but here's a tip that will help with any NDS.
NEVER open it to the point that it makes a click noise. It ruins the wiring eventually, and might result in plastic breakage.
As for dropping it, that's a nono, even if it is on a rug.

Buy a NERF case, they help with shock from being dropped.

And that's happened to me once....and my brother twice.
Mine was with a first gen,
and my irresponsible brother broke both 1st and second gens, because he drops them.

By the way, you can buy new shells, or the outer overing, which is what broke, on ebay for about 5-8 USD on ebay.

I have definitely dropped my nintendo ds multiple times and it's fine. I don't know why if people have had problems. Then again it's always closed and from about the height of a chair. I have had my computer's top case crack twice (i have a mac) and it was really frustrating. I had one key that was broken and they had to replace the top case. So annoying...

Kokihi 12-30-2009 11:15 PM

haha...mac. . .

my sister also dropped her Itouch and broke the screen. it still works, but there is a huge obnoxious crack now.

Nope hasnt happened to me right after christmas I at least get really good use out of my stuff before something decides to go wrong O_o

purple_picklez 12-30-2009 11:31 PM

@TECHNO:: It's a DS lite. And I didn't drop it. I was closing it, and I guess my finger was the way or something..

@kokihi:: The button on my old iPod Touch got stuck, but I never dropped it too badly, as I can recall..

@Synthetika:: Well, I've had it for a while, and I try to keep my things in good condition. I don't know what happened..

Luckily, my birthday's in March, so if I can't get it fixed, I'll be able to get a new one.

Kokihi 12-30-2009 11:32 PM

That also happened to my sis, but she still manages to use it some how.
I have a nano, and I'm happy with it. when I drop it, it doesn't get destroyed XD

MissAndroid 12-30-2009 11:35 PM

Oh that sucks! When my things break I usually can't salvage them. I dropped my laptop at the beginning of last summer and the screen shattered I was without my computer for a month, it was new too.

purple_picklez 12-30-2009 11:39 PM

@Kokihi:: I have a nano too, and I dropped it so many times that I have to hold the top white part down for the Hold button to work!!

@MissAndroid:: Ooh, wow. That really sucks. At least my DS still functions!! lol.

Kokihi 12-31-2009 12:04 AM

my friend's classic ended up like that. eventually she just got a new one.

katyasha 12-31-2009 12:08 AM

Ouch, as for me I got regifted which is not cool at all.

purple_picklez 12-31-2009 12:14 AM

@katyasha:: What do you mean?

Kokihi 12-31-2009 12:18 AM

0.o?

purple_picklez 12-31-2009 12:22 AM

@Kikihi:: Should I know what that means? Or are you confused too?

Kokihi 12-31-2009 12:25 AM

I am also confused.

Sev en Ester 12-31-2009 12:28 AM

Never had problems with my DS *knocks on wood*

Hmmm...I don't think I've had that kind of misfortune before...It's always been a month or two after Christmas that something happens...Like the cat throwing up on my DDR mat when I was 10. It left a nasty stain...

Ah that'd do it. :C

purple_picklez 12-31-2009 12:32 AM

@Kokihi:: OK, good.

@TECHNO:: I know!! My poor DS..

@Sev:: That's nice. I'm no good at DDR.

Yukiii-chan 12-31-2009 12:33 AM

haha. yes it as. XP

Kokihi 12-31-2009 12:40 AM

@Sev en Ester: eeeee..... A friend of mine has a beautiful pink silk kimono...her cat peed on it.

Sev en Ester 12-31-2009 12:42 AM

Stinks...D: Cats...geez...
I once set out a sleeping bag cuz my friend was going to sleep over and she would be over in 5 minutes (we were 8) and when we went to set up her sleeping bag, there was a hug puddle of cat pee on it.

purple_picklez 12-31-2009 12:56 AM

That's really nice, both of you. lol.

Sev en Ester 12-31-2009 12:59 AM

Yup. Ways of the world. Don't have to like (you probably won't) but nature don't care.

purple_picklez 12-31-2009 01:05 AM

Well, I don't like the part when cats pee where they're not supposed to, but nature and I are fairly good friends. lol.
