I've never been able to catch anything in the fishing game, so I think I am doing something wrong. So far I've just been able to get the hook down, and up again, and all fish are completely unimpressed by that.

lol, i have also failed to catch anything doing the fishing game. I am useless at using it for gold... I just fail ~sulks in a coner~

Toccata, the fishing game is Harbor Fishing. =D You go side to side in a boat and try to line up your hook with the fishies' mouths (or the cracks' centers, for the floating TVs). It's tricky at first but it gets more fun once you figure out how to line up the hook.

Oooh, wait! You're writing a novel, Mitsu?? Tell me more, please. What kind of novel? Who are your main chars, your story, your everything? I've been doing NaNoWriMo for four years straight now and so I think I've been through all the ups and downs of novel writing myself too...

Oh! Oh! Someone's writing a novel! Yes, tell about it!

Myself, I have all these ideas for novels, and I can write and not be terrible, but I'm always just way too apprehensive to attack those blank white pages and write things down. I'm a perfectionist and always want everything right the first time, and that hinders me unfortunately.

Dart: yeah im writing a novel, Its about a boy who lives in a fish village and fats the sea. His father dies and then he is taken in by his uncle. He is then forced into a secert bussiness of smuggling goods, something that his uncle and father were doing because the fishing industry in the area is dying.

Of course they are the custom police trying to stop them from getting goods into the country. Its based on a village in england and its proper history.

@Dart Yeah, the hook has to go 'through' the mouths. For some of the fish that's extra hard (like the brown rays). It took me a whiiiile to figure out how to do it well and I still have games where I can't seem to do anything right. XD; But it is a fast goldmaker if you practice at it.

That sounds like a fun one to write.

Most of mine are dark with angel/demon/vampire/imortals but I do have several love stories with humans... ahh I can see myself writing trashy romance novels.

That sounds quite interesting. If you manage to finish the whole story, will you send me a signed copy then? :)

Also, I'm guilty as well of starting a lots of things and never finishing anything. Out of my four NaNoWriMo novels, which were all winners by the mere word count, only one of them I did actually write until the end (my current one by the way). And I'm a perfectionist too, and strange enough I've noticed, most of the parts I think were awfully written tend to be the parts other people like the most. And whenever I personally think I did a good job on one part, they say it's too pathetic or something similar *sigh* any one of you experienced the same?

Mmh, I will practice harbour fishing then, a fast goldmaker sounds always welcome.

Dart I have the same general starting and now finishing but as to my writing... I am not really sure I do not have many who know anything about writing to read them most are friends who read it and call it good just because I wrote it. I guess I have nice friends then hu? I love writing but I get off to a great start and like what I wrote and am afraid that if I add more I will mess with the flow or change something. On longs ones I have the problem of re-stating things says 20 pages before.... (

hehehe when i have finished the full copie its being sent to a publishers... but thats a long way of, i have 12 chapters to write and alot of editing todo before i even get to that point... I dont expect to get anywhere with this storie but i have only written shorts before so its a bit of a lerning cever for me.

How do you win at NaNoWriMo, never tired to do an entry?

NaNo? That's only to write 50 000 words in a single month (November, to be precise). Once you hit the 50k mark, you're automatically a winner, no matter whether your story is finished.

May I ask what NaNoWriMo is?

@Dart Yeah that's happened to me. XD; Lots of times my friends have picked up on the comedy elements of what I write and laugh at them, but then not say anything about the more serious parts I spent tons more time on. I once wrote a little piece that had a lot of symbolism in it that I was proud of doing, and nobody noticed until I pointed it out and explained it. I can't tell if that means I did a good job of not making it too blatant and cliche, or if it means I did a bad job because it was too subtle.

November is like... my busiest month in school, so I never get a chance to try it XD

NaNoWriMo may be explained as the challenge to write (the first draft of) a novel from November 1st to November 30th. If you manage to reach 50k words of fiction within the time limit, you are a winner and get a nice certificate to print and hang on your wall. Also, there's writers forums on the website which are a lot of fun.

hehehe i can image most of them stories being kind of horrible in plot and in characters. How do people go about writing? I have approched this one by starting with a one parapgraph concept, then expending that into a page, developing the characters and then using excel to make sence by sence description of the storie and develop from there.

All the plotting has been pretty much inored out before a word of the first draft has even been put done on paper in a sence.

i only need one more bowl!
