To be honest the only American series I follow is CSI and I don't mind waiting for it.
I prefer not to watch things on Youtube if I don't have to but since I don't even have a TV at university I'm doing it more often. ^^; |
@Shimwa-Yeah, renew it. Since I can't buy it anywhere but online (nor do I have the money to buy any anyway), and we don't get PBS or BBC America, I've gotta watch my Doctor Who by loaning it in from other libraries. Which sucks, because nine times out of ten there's holds on it before I can renew it to finish watching it! TT_TT

hey, heres a thought. theyre probably gonna show the regeneration in this one, wont they? i think the fans would kill them if they didnt show the regeneration process. so that means, we'll get our first glimpse of matt smith! cool! :D
|
Whoa, wait a sec! Tennant's leaving Doctor Who?!
I really hate not having cable at times like this...=_= |
Heh, I've seen so many filming pictures for the next series it won't be that much of a surprise to see Matt Smith. If he's in Ten's outfit when he regenerates that'll be a little weird.
|
taiyo: oh my gosh... youre just finding that out now? i feel sorry for you. id hate to not have 3 months warning like i did. lol
kat: he is in tennant's outfit. ive seen pictures of it. and....... a bit spoiler-y |
There aren't many American series worth keeping up on, but CSI tends to be pretty good. Honestly I watch more non-American shows than American ones.
I often don't have access to a tv since I'm a college student, and I travel a lot so hauling lots of DVDs across the country and between continents isn't very practical. So most of the things I watch I watch over the internet. Sure the quality isn't very good, but I deal. Anything I really like I plan to buy the DVDs for anyway if I ever settle down. |
Oh, yeah there's a picture on the BBC Doctor Who website of Ten looking a bit roughed up. I can't be bothered to do the fancy tags for six words. XD
|
I definitely understand the desire to see something air in your country the same day it airs in another country.
I'm in the US and having to wait months for another DW thing is frustrating (I'm in withdrawal, damnit!!). But there's also money involved. Just to get a show/episode released country-wide costs money. It costs more money to release it internationally, because there's export costs, and individual TV networks have to be paid to air it on their channel, and under the table there's always someone's palm that has to be greased. That takes a lot of money. That being said: I wish to God they would air DW on Sci-fi, because I'm not one of the people fortunate enough to have BBCAmerica. |

That's it! When I get to college, make sure my computer has a DVD player in it, get a job, and buy Doctor Who so I can watch it on my time! Or better yet; go to college in England! ><; I hate being behind the times! |
Yes it does cost money to air/sell it internationally - but since it is a show where they are going to do it anyways, why not just do it at the same time?
TaiyoTsuki - I love that - go to college in Britain XD At the very least, do a study abroad semester/year there! |
And during that time, get DW and Torchwood DVDs!
|
Night all, and happy new year!
|
Happy new year Connie
|
Yes, during that time, buying ALL the Doctor Who DVDs will be the top of my list! Including all the ones for the Classic series that I still haven't managed to see yet. Will be getting the Torchwood ones as well.
|
I've not seen any of the classic series. From what I've heard from my parents (they were around when those episodes were on TV) the effects were REALLY corny! And apparently the Daleks haven't changed at all...talking tin cans that kill people.
|
-pops in- don't dis the talking cans Taiyo-chan. They haz lazer beams and funny voizes.
|
I saw a two-minute clip of one of the episodes from the Classic series before - it was even in black and white. The Darlek voices in it were pretty similar, but didn't quite seem as polished as the ones from the current series. The plot line seemed very obvious too - the Darleks had some characters in a holding chamber, and they could listen in on everything the characters were saying. So of course that could be used against them.
Anyway, cheesy or not, I still would like to see the rest of the Classic series XD |
those daleks always reminded me of R2D2, ive gotta admit. though, to be fair, the daleks have been on tv for a much longer time.

yeah. theyre both pretty annoying at times. but for both, its mostly the obnoxious noise theyre always making. (and also the daleks are trying to enslave the world. hehe)
|
R2D2 is cute, and doesn't resemble the Darleks much except for the one-eye thing.
As for the Darleks - I prefer them over Cybermen any day. |
yeah. those cybermen get irritating FAST.
but you dont think the two tank-like robots resemble each other? o_0 |
The cyberwoman in Torchwood was a [email protected]%#$. She tried "upgrading" Gwen!
Their idea of thinking reminds me of the Borg...a lot. They'd get along perfectly. :stare: |
Not really.
R2D2 = 100% robot, cylandar, chirpy sounds, blue and white, very angular designs on the side Darlek = alive with robot shell, deeper sounds, dark grey and gold, slopped sides, and the designs pattern is very different Yeah - not only are the Cybermen really annoying, but if I had to choose which race to face, I'd rather face the Darleks. At least they only kill you. |
