urghh... not the cuisine I like...
and lol. XD my colleague now have full view of my embarassment in eating.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:02 PM

I hate when that happens. V_V What did you end up getting to eat?

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:09 PM

I ate quite a lot in a way. THere is meat, tofu, prawns...
I hate people cook prawns with their shells on... it is SO DIFFICULT to get the shell out! :<

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:16 PM

Was it like a hot pot sort of thing where you cook it yourself? I've never had a prawn before...

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:17 PM

Nope, not hot pot.
Just share dishes with rice for everyone

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:18 PM

Have you ever had hot pot? They just opened a restaurant near where I live and I was thinking about going but I'm sort of nervous. I'm not sure what there is to eat or how it works.

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:19 PM

I did. But not a fan for it. We had home made hot pot party before too.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:23 PM

What sort of food do they offer to put in it? I think I saw some sort of rolled up meat and mushrooms and tofu? How does it work? Does the hot pot have sauce in it?

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:25 PM

No... they have a pot of soup in the middle. and on different plate, lay out the meat, vegetables, mushrooms, prawns and things. First, boil the soup. Then start putting in food. and just plain cook it there. After that, pick them out and eat.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:27 PM

So does the soup have flavor? I feel like otherwise it would be pretty bland. Do they offer different types of soup or just one main kind of broth?

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:29 PM

Yes. They do. It is either the very mild soup or the tom yam. Famous from Thailand.
All I have seen are these 2 broth.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:31 PM

What is the tom yam like?

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:41 PM

I... think it is a bit spicy... salty... and maybe some hint of sour?

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 03:50 PM

Hm, I'm not sure if I would like it or not. I'm not a huge fan of sweet and sour or spicy things.

xuvrette 12-26-2014 03:59 PM

I am not a fan of Tom Yam soup. But I guess any soup can be used.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 04:05 PM

Good to know. Maybe one of these days I'll get brave and go give it a try.

xuvrette 12-26-2014 04:06 PM

meh. There are a lot of noise of claking fork spoon with the plate when I was struggling trying to de-shell the prawn. x.x

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 04:13 PM

LOL! I know for sure I would have had as much or more trouble. I've never had shellfish before...

xuvrette 12-26-2014 04:15 PM

I don't even know what is a shellfish... x.x

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 04:19 PM

Like lobsters, prawn, crabs, etc. It's a type of animal/food.

xuvrette 12-26-2014 04:28 PM

Isn't there a fish call shellfish?

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 04:32 PM

Nope. It's a general category.

xuvrette 12-26-2014 04:37 PM

Is it? O_O
Oh well, I didn't study biology.

zigbigadorlube 12-26-2014 04:46 PM

LOL! I'm not very good at biology either to be honest but that one I did know. ^^; What was your best subject in school?

xuvrette 12-26-2014 04:48 PM

hmm... not sure... maybe... Languages?
