I'd get bothered in a life drawing class I think, but I'd still take it if I had to. I strangely did not as an art major.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 10:57 PM

Honestly I would have felt a bit awkward but not terribly uncomfortable. And definitely less so now. I'm not really modest anymore. [lol]

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:00 PM

Yeah, it'd be like the first two classes are weird, then you get used to it. It's art so all you're really caring about is the art.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:02 PM

Yeah, I agree.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:08 PM

I could probably have benefited from a life drawing class. I have no idea why it wasn't required at my school.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:13 PM

I just did a still life drawing class. It was pretty interesting.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:16 PM

Ya'll draw fruits and cloth and things? It's fun for playing with charcoal and pastels, but I don't care for still lifes. I prefer to draw people.

Dystopia 01-01-2015 11:19 PM

I haven't taken any art classes. While most people opted to fulfill their art requirement with an easy drawing class, I did it with art history.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:20 PM

You actually had an art requirement? Go your school. Not very many places do.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:20 PM

Yeah, fruit and cones and fabric and shoes and things like that. It was quite different than anything else I had done. We had to buy special pastels and charcoals and inks and things and have this huge sketchbook with tons of drawings by the end of the year. I sort of miss it now though it was pretty tough at the time.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:24 PM

I liked the drapery study. The shoes were hard. Fruit was boring because we didn't even get to play around much with the supplies and that was the second semester of drawing class. Should have been the first. But that's about how a standard drawing class goes. Everyone draws the same things.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:26 PM

What I found most interesting was to see how everyone's styles really differed.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:28 PM

Once you get past drawing eggs, yes. It can get very different even from two people sitting on the same side of the still life.

Dystopia 01-01-2015 11:28 PM

Yep! I guess they want us to be well-rounded people. I would have preferred taking a drawing class, but the art history class was seen as a legit class and not an easy A class so I took that one. xD

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:29 PM

drawing should be a legit class too! [illgetu] though even as an art major it's generally an easy A, not being something where you gain quantifiable knowledge.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:30 PM

I really liked the design class I took. That was really interesting.

Dystopia 01-01-2015 11:31 PM

Its pretty hard to fail a basic drawing class tho.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:32 PM

Lack of trying would definitely make you fail pretty quick.

Dystopia 01-01-2015 11:35 PM

Yeah, but its not that hard to doodle up a little something-something for each class. xD

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:36 PM

Yeah but a lot of college kids are super lazy and can't be bothered.

Dystopia 01-01-2015 11:39 PM

Man, that's some intense laziness.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:41 PM

Yeah well when you go out drinking every night it doesn't leave you much time for the important things in life like eating and sleeping and having sex let alone doing your homework. ROFL.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:43 PM

a drawing class is generally judged on level of participation, interest, and your own personal growth. So you shouldn't be able to get out of it just by being lazy.

lol Ziggy.

zigbigadorlube 01-01-2015 11:44 PM

That totally wasn't how I did college but it seems to be the way a lot of people did.

Kat Dakuu 01-01-2015 11:45 PM

I went to an art school for most of it. Sure we were all on drugs, but people were passionate about their art.
