i hate prints. with oils, prints just dont do it justice. whats the point in painting in oils if you cant experience the oils. you might as well paint in acrylics.

i have had this talk with a lot of people... and besides. if i cant sell the original that i love, how am i supposed to sell a print that i hate?

Why is acrylic a more suitable medium to turn into prints and not oil?
Those two look quite thick to me. x.x

its ok. oils are all about texture and their shine and intensity. printing it ruins all that and makes any oil painting look like acrylic. i think it bothers me so much because everyone says to make prints, thinking that ill sell more, but then those people wouldn't even be willing to give me $20 for a painting, print or not. and why get a print, when you can get the original for the same price? not you, just people in my life ... its mostly like my dad who doesnt really believe in it at all.

BSWW~ If I am not mistaken, Acrylic has a whole range of mediums, they also have texture paint strokes too... one of the gel paste even enable them to thicken the paint and make the paint literally POP OUT. Acrylic is quite versatile, it can be as smooth as print and as textured as oil paint.
I, am an art material addict... I look up on a lot of those things.
Like you said, the earning power and living price is not in sync. I am not surprised layman place essential living things over art. This imbalance happened at my place too. House here cheapest cost 300k, but lower class person annually earn only 25k-30k. That is sub-urban price. If closer to city, even more expensive.

yeah... purchasing power is just in the toilet these days. oh well. all we can do is move forward right?

and i admit that i have not heard this of acrylics, though i have seen some textured prints. i just dont like the idea of making prints. they feel false to me. and i highly doubt that i will be able to sell them any better than my originals. since i cant make the print, i would have to go to a printing shop and then pay for it... this would dramatically increase the price of the paintings as the original painting price would still have to be compensated for. Prints of my work would be more expensive than the original and i dont see any reason why anyone would want to pay more for not the original. would you?

im sorry i feel so passionately about it, xuvrette. i understand that many other people made their way on prints and thats its a great way to go when originals are well up into the thousands. but my originals are less than $100. so, its much more reasonable to buy an original from me due to my pricing.

I think that if I ever mad enough money to buy art, Mene would be the first place I would come to.
