I got used it. It took time, but by middle school I was a social butterfly, and in high school I went out for everything. I became student president, and even the assistant principle's assistant. How awesome do you think the privileges I had were? Hahahaha.
I think homeshoolers come from a variety of backgrounds and for a variety of reasons. Most commonly and most stereotypically is for religious reasons. I was homeschooled for travel reasons. I couldn't enroll if I wasn't going to be in the country. n___n
Oh gosh, that's a very small town!

Well I took the myers briggs one and it gave me a personality type that explained what types of work i'd like and work environment where a person who likes to work as i do would perform best. then there's a list of those places i'd be least frustrated

@ Bunny: Haha. Yeah. Ran into a lot of those when I was there. The irony was it made it so I couldn't fit in with Home schoolers or High Schoolers. :D

@Shis and Bun: So home schooling is a way for the parents to manipulate their ways of thinking into their children? :\
I kinda don't like the sound of that... but... hopefully not every parent is like that...:\

No, not typically. I've noticed a trend in it though: Those of middle class that can manage money reasonably tend to instruct their children better and the people that are considered "poverty" level by means of their own inability to manage money (i.e. once they get paid, instead of putting it toward something like the bills that need to be paid, they blow it off on going to an amusement park and treating friends to dinner), tend to have kids that really fail badly when they are homeschooled.

Sounds about right during me days. But then again, I was a band geek all 4 years. A whole new low on the social totem pole.

Esme, that's what parents try to do regardless of homeschooling.
I loved public school. Absolutely adored the entire social aspect of it.

I remember in Primary school that I was singled out by my peers. It was a really horrible experience. I mean I had no one. :(

@ Shishunki - That sucks........... I have a lot of friends, so I'm sorta blessed.........
@ Esmereina - I don't know about that.......... ultimately it's the kid's choice whether to agree or not....... But I suppose some people homeschool for that reason, yes. It's just probably not a very large group.

That's.... difficult to explain. Especially since any parent, homeschooled or not, in some way manipulates a kids way of thinking to their own. Again, intentional or not.
Parents that do that with homeschooling have their reasons. I may not, as you may not, agree with it. But it's their right.

I would have missed being in the band, choir, and being a cheerleader.
I was also editor of the paper my senior year.

every parent uses conditioning to shape their children. it's normal. in fact, some of it is necessary for them to be able to function in society. :0
consider proper parenting "beneficial mind control"
however, it's not always beneficial if you are giving the wrong message, obviously...

oh my goodness! I HATED school!
My third grade teacher.... *shudders* SHE was a TERROR!
I went home sick EVERY DAY. I'd get in the car fall asleep, wake up for dinner and go back to sleep. We (my parents and I ) KNEW for a fact (she said it to my mother) that she did NOT want to teach me.
Thank god I am homeschooled............

@ Shishunki - True. I don't believe in the creationist theory. I think the world is billions of years old, and we evolved from apes. But that doesn't mean I object to others believing that. It's their right. As Shishunki said.

@Bun: well you and Shis are very good informants... I appreciate the insight alot!
I don't think I would ever home school my kids though...i guess its more on personal choice is anything... there are plenty of good schools around..and i am pretty open minded for a Christian...so...for my future kids..i think schooling is the way to go for them... and also to get rid of them for 7 hours...XD j/k i would have to work...:\

I wouldn't want to homeschool my kids
The homeschooled kids around here tend to have really terrible people skills. And I personally think that having good people skills is very important, and when I meet people that are awkward with people, then they tend to have a harder time functioning in society. Plus, they tend to create more issues and upset a lot of people. (have known some people with pretty terrible people skills)

@ Bunny: *pat pat* It's okay. I like the way I am and that's because of what happened.
@ Esmer: Glad to help. Home schooling is a big responsiblity. I think if you let your kids go to regular school, but remain active in knowing how they're doing and helping. You'll be fine. *nod nod*
