I wish I had thought to put my name in the picture of the one I carved at school during midterms... But sadly it'll probably be gone by the time I get back on Monday.

So good luck to everyone else who enters and I can't wait to see everyone else's pumpkins/turnips/etc!!

Shadami 11-03-2012 01:46 AM

I'm not going to be getting a pumpkin sadly... so.. this isn't happening for me :[

Nephila 11-03-2012 02:58 AM

My pumpkins were carved by my kids so I can't really enter either... though I have couple arsty ideas.

Kamikaze Kendra 11-03-2012 03:14 AM

Well... Even though I can't enter it, I'm still proud of it and want to show it off to you guys! I free handed it based on an image of the Cheshire cat's face from the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland. :)

I have a question!

I carved a pumpkin for Halloween, but the pictures I took (before it fell apart) don't have my username in it...can I use paint or something to put it in...(not that it would win-I just want to enter) since I can't go back in time and add it? XD

Where did you take the picture? If you can take a picture of the same location with your username in it, and submit that as well as the pumpkin, I'll accept that.

TempêteNoir 11-03-2012 07:36 AM

I'm on the same boat as Cat Eye, I had a nicely carved pumpkin, but a bout of warm weather has done it's damage, I'm afraid. I have some photos of it freshly carved, but it does not have my username with it. The photos only really show a bit of the table (if that) so I'm not sure the area would be recognized, but could I perhaps provide a photo of it now to prove I have it? (I warn you though, it isn't pretty)

Cardinal Biggles 11-03-2012 07:43 AM

You can do that, yes, it would be fine. You can also do what I suggested to Cat, and take a picture of the location, with your username.

TempêteNoir 11-03-2012 08:14 AM

The pictures show more of the area than I thought, so I shall do that. Thanks!

Whisper Invictus 11-03-2012 06:21 PM

I love seridanos moogle pumpking [squee]

Nephila 11-03-2012 11:28 PM

K it's really hard to take a picture of myself and the sign with my name on it.... You can see a bit of the same shelf in both pictures though so I hope that when I get the pics off my camera it'll be ok. :)

Edit: wow I posted in the wrong contest thread XD

Cardinal Biggles 11-04-2012 02:11 AM

I was going to say, I hope my directions weren't so unclear you thought you needed to include all that in your photos!

Roachi 11-04-2012 07:02 AM

Aww so i can't use an orange?? Because we don't get those orange pumpkins in NZ :(
I made a really good orange scary thing xDDD.
I'll enter it in the food thing instead lol.

Seridano 11-04-2012 03:36 PM

Roachi: You don't have the orange pumpkins, do you have another kind? [:O]
Remember, it's gourds and turnips, not just orange pumpkins. [yes] Find something you think may be a match for gourds and then ask Biggles if that's okay. \ o /

I made this mainly for a friend who loves Owls more 'n anything. x3
Free hand, looked at a few ideas and went at it with a steak knife and a spoon. Erhaha.

Cardinal Biggles 11-05-2012 10:10 PM

I'm going to put it in nontraditional, sabiir. Traditional is for the classic face style of pumpkin.

ALL ADDED TO THE FIRST PAGE.

I'm going to clarify the nature of the categories, so there's no struggling when it comes to submitting the form.
  • Traditional
These are the carved pumpkins that first come to mind when you think of Jack o' Lanterns. These have faces.
  • Nontraditional
These are carved patterns or scenes or images that aren't faces.
  • Painted
These are are pumpkins that have no carving involved and are all, well, painted.
  • Stenciled
if you used a kit pattern/stencil or something prefabricated/not your design, you need to enter it in this category.

I know some of you are disappointed that you can't carve or submit whatever organic matter you have access to. I understand that frustration. However, as this is my first year doing this, literally comparing apples to oranges (to pumpkins) is not something I wanted to do in the judging. I just thought it would be too confusing and possibly unfair. I know you don't all have access to the traditional pumpkin, and I wanted to expand the scope to plants in the gourd family or even the trusty old turnip, thinking this would help, but it seems that is still limiting for some of you. I regret if this is prohibitory, but at this point such rules have to stay in place.

Roachi 11-06-2012 05:02 AM

Ahh nope, no orange pumpkins in NZ, we got greeny kinda coloured ones. But eh... weekend is over for me now i won't have the time. But thanks guys i appreciate it, and i hope you get loads more entries ^^

Cardinal Biggles 11-06-2012 05:34 AM

I hope so too! But as it's after the holiday, I can understand why people wouldn't be compelled to carve one now...

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 11-06-2012 07:30 PM

I need to work on my turnip! D:!!!!

Seito 11-07-2012 04:54 AM

Biggles >> << >> I'm not 100% sure about this first one. It's got paint and was slightly carved (by slight it was attempting to shave the top layer off and failing... hard) So I'm submitting it to paint?

It turned out pretty well considering all I had to paint with was nail polish xD

Linnea 11-07-2012 08:24 PM

i painted a table orange yesterday... can that be a nontraditional pumpkin? [lol] juuuust kidding! :P

Cardinal Biggles 11-08-2012 04:08 AM

[stare]

All entries so far recorded. No stencil entries so far. If you have one on your hands, you've got a very good chance of winning 3000 big ones just by entering, guys.

Linnea 11-08-2012 04:09 AM

alas, i do not have a real pumpkin at the moment [gonk]
