gnocchi is an interesting pasta, haven't had it in ages but I remember liking it.

potato type, didn't make it myself, bought it at a restaurant.

It's got an interesting chewy texture, when you eat it. Somehow I prefer egg or durem wheat pastas.

As far as I know, most of the pastas are either egg or durem wheat, egg tastes better but durem wheat usually comes in a dry form so is good for storing for a later date.

Then the various names usually just refer to their shape, like penne, ravioli, lasagne, spaghetti, etc....

Same actually. I usually just buy the dry stuff and use it when I feel like eating pasta. :)
