Playgroup is what you take kids too before they start nursery school, they basically just get to play with a load of other kids that they may or may not end up going to school with. I used to go to the swimming pool for it, they had a room round back we used to use.

This thread will likely stay open until the actual end of Chinese New Year. :) Chinese New Year lasts fifteen days and the give-away was only for the first several. ;3

Yeah, this thread is a little slow, but it was expected. XD
I honestly did expect more discussion of the Zodiac (either the creatures or what people were) or even questions about things. XD
Not complaining about this thread's regulars, though. ;3

Nah - no worries. XD It's just something I decided because people seemed disappointed. XD It's not as if people are in here abusing the thread by talking about spammy things. XD So it can stay open so those still celebrating Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year in real life will have some time to drop by and talk about theirs or discuss their Chain Zodiac or whatever. :3

Which would be fun~
For the last couple of years I've always wanted to go celebrate Chinese New Year in the Chinese area of Antwerp, but never had the chance to do so. Either I've got to work, or the people that want to go with me have other things to do. XD But really, it's such an amazing celebration. <3 It's worthy of being talked about.
I'm a Rabbit, myself - though sometimes books say that I'm a cat, but a cat isn't a part of the original Chinese astrology, so I go with rabbit, most of the time.

Aww - I know what you mean. :3 I got to celebrate Chinese New Year in Melbourne, Australia last year and roll around in their Chinatown and pet a lion for luck (meaning one of the Chinese New Year lion dancer costumes, not an actual roooar lion from the zoo or wild). One of the most amazing times I've had in my life.
I don't know if Antwerp's is anything like Melbourne's, but I hope you get to celebrate it somewhere next year!

Antwerp is the main port/traffic city in Belgium - it's large, but nothing compared to Melbourne. ^^
Still, that does sound amazing~! Lucky~

XD I hope their Chinese New Year celebration is awesome, though. I wish we had anything locally, but I can't really think of anywhere in easy driving distance *does* have one.... ._.

Hmm, that's a shame. I'm pretty lucky in that Belgium is so small, and that everything is within driving distance. ^^
I had a Thai friend a couple of years ago (she studied here for a year) who said the celebration in Antwerp was really wonderful. So I think it'll be pretty good. It's always on the news, too, and the Chinese area's of Antwerp are truly "Chinese" - as in, you can eat proper Chinese food, rather then the meals they usually serve, which have been modified to the local people's tastes.

I know they have a celebration thing in town here for Chinese new year, I heard a teacher talking about it with someone he was taking his class to see it though I don't know which subject he teaches. I've never been though because I don't know exactly where it is in town and towns a pretty big place.
I'm a rabbit as well ^_^ all the descriptions that I find about what a rabbit person are like do to some small extent sound like me except like this one says
Quote:
Rabbits are friendly, outgoing and prefer the company of others.
|
I'm not very outgoing and a lot of the time I prefer to be alone so I don't know, I like reading things like that though what I'm supposedly like based on something and comparing to how I actually am.

I've never actually gone to a genuine chinese new year celebration I believe... Though I have gone to a lot of parties.
Kinda boring ones though... The older kids are quiet and sit in the corner and the younger ones spill soda on my poor old game cube and I'm stuck in the middle.
But the food is GREAT during chinese new year... Spring rolls, fried dumplings, duck, fish, fried sticky rice....
