I'm trying to play a game too at the same time.

My computer is making some weird noises. Has me worried. Well I have my netbook if all else fails but hubby will be mad. Him and his damn WoW. :XP

I think it depends on the kid really. I've baby sat some younger kids who were no problem to watch and younger. Then there's the type that seem no matter what their age is they're a handful. :/

My girls need to learn "no" still. They do not listen very well. They understand what I am saying, but they do it anyway.

my son does that sometimes as well some times he feels like listening and then other times it's lets so how far i get with this before really getting in trouble. but that is normal for their age they are learning their boundaries. what they are allowed to get away with and what they can't get away with and who will let them get away with what

Discipline. Key ingredient. I didn't see what age they were, but I'd say if they're five and under the 1,2,3 tactic seems to work a charm. Then depending on child from 6 on up you can try to use reasoning with them. My stepkids, 7 and 10, are old enough to be reasoned with and we use groundings and take away the things they enjoy most. That typically works wonders.

jo - yep. Kids KNOW if you're going to follow through or not. I've watched my friend repeatedly tell her kids she was gonna bust butt and never did so they kept on doing it. I watched them and I did get to the end of my tether and they did get punished. But I tell you what after they KNEW I wouldn't put up with their behavior things were much easier then. Then mom comes home they start being difficult again, because they KNOW she will let them get away with it.

----------

Ohh dragon so it's kinda hard at that stage. :/ I mean I have a friend who SWEARS by 1,2,3 even that early on but sometimes I wonder. I'll learn a bit more in school though as I'm taking classes towards early childhood development degree. Right now a lot of what I know is from experience with my stepkids or babysitting for other kids.

you just have to get after them when they don't listen let them know there are consequences that's all there is to it i mean the moment they are old enough to do what they are not suppose to they are old enough to discipline. obviously the first offense is just letting them know they are not suppose to and then when they d it again after that well they have been told they know better and you discipline them how you see fit.

i am only saying this cause i lot of people don't seem to know this i am not saying you guys don't but if someone is having troubles with disciplining just remember you have to be constant with the discipline. or else they think they an get away with it even though you said otherwise

I agree Jo. And kids KNOW how to push buttons, and they seem to almost enjoy making a game out of it. :XP

@ jo - Lots of good points. It refreshed my memory on some things. Thanks for posting that. ^_^

Yep, gotta keep telling them no, and disciplining them when they do not listen.

It's really at a subconscious level too I think. I don't THINK any kid actually thinks "lets make mom's day miserable..." I think it's just something they do whether they realize it or not.

I know I never thought that way when I was little. :XP
