lol Yeah, she isn't that friendly, though. She use to be a little bit friendlier when I got her when I was a kid, but she has never cared much for being handled. She gets so grumpy about it that I dont hold her very often anymore. She'll growl at me. Haha. But I hope to get her outside every now and then this summer. I'm sure she could use the nice fresh air
|
Yeah, it must get depressing, living in a glass box all the time.
|
Mhmm. :'(
I feel so bad about it |
I don't like reptiles, you can't do much with them, just have them there in a box or in front of you. They don't show affection. D;
|
Hey everyone!
I knew there was something familiar with Suona's signature art! I remember looking at your art a while ago in your shop. I think reptiles are cool if you are just around them for a few minutes because you can't do much other than pet them. |
I dunno, you can't play with them like a cat or a dog, but they can still be friendly and hang out with you.
|
@Torrinne: How would a reptile hang out with you and show their friendliness?
I've only ever interacted with reptiles at pet stores and zoo shows. |
I've never been to a zoo. D; A guy downtown used to walk around with his colorful iguana on his shoulder, it was cool, but it was kinda hostile. .__.
|
Well, I like to "walk" the snakes and the leopard gecko in our labs. Ours are really friendly, so they'll climb all over you, exploring. But yeah, you definitely know if they're not in a friendly mood. >.<
|
@Tilly: Hahah I can picture that in my head. xD
Too bad the iguana was hostile. @Torrinne: O so you work in a reptile lab? Cool, I wonder what it feels like to have a reptile climb on me. |
Zoology lab. I don't really work there, but the prof that teaches zoology at our school lets a few of us come play with the animals because we spend so much time in his lab. (It's the best sneaky place to hide and get work done.) And the gecko has claws, so it kinda hurts a little when he climbs on you, unless you're wearing long sleeves. But the snakes are nice. They're really soft and dry.
|
@Torrinne: O I see. I am thinking of taking a Zoology major but I am still unsure about it.
It's great that your prof lets you guys do that. ^^ Ya snakes are very nice to touch! I always laugh when I remember that I thought snakes were slimy as a young child. |
No worries, I did too. And then my father introduced me to the garter snakes in the garden.
Go for it! Zoology is a lot of fun. I'm just general biology, but I'm trying to make room in my schedule for more zoology classes. I'm waaaay too busy. D: |
Ah I see. Well I am definitely doing a Human Biology major but I really want to do a Physiology major (if I can make it in).
|
Cool stuff. I'm really looking forward to Anatomy next semester. I've had to save it until the very end, but we have a cadaver lab at my school, so I'm ridiculously excited for it. (I might be a horrible nerd.)
|
O wow you guys get to work with cadavers?! I doubt we get to do that but I know I would be quite creeped out in the beginning.
I know my mom had to work with a cadaver for about two weeks and she got to bring it around with her everywhere (i.e. at home). She said when she was used to it she was able to sleep with it and not feel uneasy. |
That is awesome!
I took Zoology at my current college, but they dont have any live animals here. :'( But I'm majoring in Zoology, so I can't wait to get to the Uni and figure out what is in store for me. |
@Suona: O another Zoology person. I hope you can work with animals in university.
So your college doesn't even have small animals like frogs?! |
Yeah, that was one of the main reasons I picked my school. I know I'm gonna have to do it in med school, so I figure I might as well get used to it. Not looking forward to smelling like dead body all semester, though. >.< But a bunch of my friends are in the class too, so we'll all reek together.
Hurrah, it must be Zoology day! But...no animals. Aw, uncool. |
We're dissecting pigs in my Biology class. As interesting as it is, I'll admit that I'm glad I don't have it right after lunch. It doesn't smell very pleasant at all. @[email protected];;
|
@Torrinne: O, you have been accepted to Med school or you are just planning on going to Med school?
What do they smell like? I know in high school we dissected a piglet and the preservatives used on it smelled really bad (but I don't know what words to use to explain the smell). |
@ Min - I'm not sure how to describe it either. @[email protected]; Unpleasant? xD;;;
|
Nah. In the class that I had, the only animals we had were the ones that we were dissecting, or some live ones would just be there for the lab assignment and then we'd be done with them
|
@Dystopia: Well the class that I dissected a piglet in was just before lunch. Although that didn't bother me at all. I know lots of the girls in my class didn't even want to touch the pig but I was really excited to do it.
@Suona: Aw I see. |
I'm planning on it. Have to take the exams this summer, and start applying in the fall. It's that or grad school for research. Probably in microbiology or genetics, if I go that route.
And yeah, it's that formaldehyde smell, only worse because it's bigger than the frogs and pigs. |
