My problem is that during this whole event I can't even donate a single thing I just keep getting this ugly dog picture saying it's broken and people are fixing it, but I'm seeing no fixing happening! I feel cheated! I couldn't save for any profession tools all event long! I demand a solution! I also want to be able to get my profession tool! TT^TT

Yeah it's happening to everyone. =/ I kept thinking they would fix it and they never did and tomorrow is the last day... I'm assuming it's not going to be fixed which is really disappointing. I really don't know if I should save up items to trade in case it is fixed on the last day or not... As it is, I used most of them since it was never fixed and will have a hard time saving them now. I hope they give us the profession tools or something since it never worked. x.x

Yumeh is an NPC (Non-player-character) an account controlled by the staff.
You can buy kitty ears and tails though from other users in the exchange.
:' )

As for the event, I just started it, but I think I've got it down.
The idea is to build up a ship before the other team, so of course you pick a side, and then you'll pick one MAIN/MAJOR profession (cannot be changed) and a minor/secondary profession which can be changed throughout the course of the event.

You just started the event? Methinks the staff started it.

And..."build up a ship"? That's certainly not what we're doing and this is the first time I've heard it mentioned. The Duvalian airship flew here and is currently docked, and we have item-making machines to repair.

That "ugly dog" is AfroDonkey and he's a character here on the site. And yes, it's saying it's broken...because it's broken. It's taking time to fix. Saying you "demand a solution" and other statements with exclamation points is really kind of rude to the mods and AA's that are working so hard to try and fix it.

Also, Vicki, I can't read your font. ^^;;;

Genji to Heike 06-02-2010 09:08 AM

Just a little help from anyone, really n_n;;

Please just confirm for me if there are already FOUR rare items out? What's the REAL name of the last item? I know it's a "spring bouquet" icon on the HQ Build, but what's its real item name in the inventory? Is it "Swing into Spring"?

Just wanna make sure I got all the items already. Thanks guys!

Sensible Cricket 06-02-2010 09:12 AM

There are four, Genji, it is called Swing into Spring, and here's the thumbnail:

M i r o 06-02-2010 01:03 PM

@ Genji; Well, technically there's 6 rares.
4 are the "Building" HQ rares and 2 are from whatever other two teams that have no association with whatever profession you chose to be by donating.

Also, I'm still apart of those majority where the donating system is still not working. I have almost over 200.00 each of the Gears and Flowers. I know it hasn't been fixed and probably won't but, I'm just getting it out there for notice.

It looked like a really ugly dog and I can't remember names to save my life. It's been broken since the event started It would be easier if they just gave up on fixing and gave people their profession tool

Sensible Cricket 06-02-2010 02:24 PM

But it's not just about "their profession tool", Kimi. I said this a couple of pages back...

Quote:

I think just giving everyone "their free event tools" is a really bad idea. Donations being down is -really- screwing with everyone's ability to collect not that one item, but -six- separate items, and some of us are the type to work hard enough to collect multiples, while some people would only have bothered with one set.

My profession is "Gasket Engineer". Now, had donations been working, I would've been donating to a -lot- of different people to try and get two full sets of gasket -and- sprocket tools for all three trades. So if I found a gasket hammer set in my inventory to make up for the donations being down......I'd have to say I'd be pretty upset.

kimichan84 06-02-2010 03:14 PM

Well to me it's about working to get event items and not getting them because they can't fix their problem. I want my item I don't have a single profession tool because the donating thing hasn't worked all event long so I would actually rather find a tool in my inventory for all the hard work I'm putting in just trying to gather the needed things for these items. I mean we work for them so why shouldn't we just get them??? I mean if they end the event without fixing the issue and not give us the items we worked for people are not gonna be happy.

Just because some of you actually got their hands on these items when the rest of us couldn't doesn't mean you can say that stuff. Because from where I stand you're telling me that it's tough luck that I didn't get my item and that I shouldn't get it after all.

It's not my fault that menewsha staff can't fix the problem already! I didn't put the stupid donation problem there! I just want what I should be getting this event because the event is closing soon and just because they aren't able to fix it I won't be able to collect a full set of items!

Rikimaru489 06-02-2010 03:17 PM

this is so kewl!

Gary Stargazer 06-02-2010 03:21 PM

a small group of trusted players on a private forum play testing this event for an hour could of saved all this hassle before running it.

Regardless the extension means nothing if the tool sets are still broken and donation can't be used. Sack the donation option and just put the tool sets in the event store so people can get them.

Bunai 06-02-2010 03:35 PM

XD I read the directions, but never really got the purpose of this

Sensible Cricket 06-02-2010 03:46 PM

@Kimi there are -six- separate profession tool sets and if you'd read what I wrote, I'm actually saying we ought to have a way to get /all six/ of them, instead of just one. So please don't get argumentative with me and act as though I'm saying you don't deserve your items. I'm saying you do, we all do, and we need a way to get all six profession tools, not just one type.

However, being rude and argumentative and even confrontational towards the mods and 'demanding' to get your way doesn't get it done any faster. It makes you look childish, and makes all of us who are patiently waiting for a solution--which they are trying to give us--look like impatient entitled brats.

@Gary, hear hear!

This! This!

@Bunai, it's fairly straightforward. ^^; Post in the events, every fifteen minutes visit the shed and do the mission, and frequently go to the HQ to sabotage, replenish, or repair the machine.

There are reasons users aren't allowed to test this stuff and it's mainly because most aren't trustworthy. How would you define someone as being trustworthy? How would you genuinly know they were trustworthy? Answer: you wouldn't.

And this has already happened before. When the site layout/system got changed, there was a small group of users who tested it and who the staff believed were trustworthy. What did they do? Leak information about new changes and the like to other members.

I'm sure this event has been tested, but no one can predict what will happen when mass amounts of users are participating. And technology isn't perfect. It breaks, for no apparent reason a lot of the time, and I'm sure the staff do everything they can to prevent such errors.

But the main thing to do right now is just deal with it and not hassle members of staff. I'm sure they are going to be well-aware of the situation, so repeating it over and over just doesn't help.

Sorry this is probably off-topic, but this has been bugging me. >.<

Wow, Spring. That was...incredibly unnecessarily tetchy. Gary was making a simple suggestion, there's no reason to get so snarky and snappy with him. Ultimately, it's not up to Gary to determine who's trustworthy and who isn't, he put forward a suggestion, as we're all wont to do when things go wonky around here, and he's got as much of a right to do that as you do, so could you dial back the vitriol?

I think that there should be done more towards testing, as it's a bit of a Menewsha 'tradition' for things to go busted around event times. And if there's a problem with trustworthiness, maybe the mods should test the event on mules (because things no doubt look different for 'regular members' than they do for mods.

Also I still think the second half of what he said is very important--extending the event an extra two days when donating is broken does nothing to resolve the issue. We need donating to work, and we need the event to run for long enough for everyone to have a chance to do their donating--it broke the first day, we need seven days of donating or else a better way to get a hold of the profession tool sets.

Spring`Tyme Fresh 06-02-2010 05:33 PM

If it helps, I wasn't directing the entire thing at him. Just the testing part. All I've seen everytime I've been online during this event is people complaining about it and it just gets frustrating.

Also, I didn't write it with the intention of being 'snappy,' but no one can tell emotions over the computer sooo it can be perceived differently.

And it just seemed clear to me that the reason Gary was suggesting "trustworthy members to test it" was so that he could get the chance to do it, so I was simply explaining why that probably wouldn't happen.

And now I'm incredibly off-topic, so I'll leave it as that and a mod can remove these posts if they wish.

No where in my post did I even come close to eluding that I wanted to do it. frankly the idea of play testing sounds like a big pain in my ass and i would only do it for compensation.

I threw an idea out and that was all. You assume too much and you know what assuming does.

Games and forums have used secure testing to fine tune events for years. I'm not suggesting anything new or revolutionary. Just something practical.

I think the only person that seemed clear to was you.

Beta testing happens, even for major and important pay-to-play games, and I think Menewsha would really benefit from it.

orlybirdy 06-02-2010 05:45 PM

I think it's pretty clear the points everyone wanted to make, and that some assumptions were made all around.

I'm sure at this point that the staff get the idea of the suggestion (which I agree that, if they can find a practical way of doing it, such as mules or something, more testing is a great idea), so it'd be better off to move it out of the thread or drop the line entirely, unless additions are being made to the suggestion.

I'm sure they're trying to figure out some reasonably fair way of compensating us for the glitches, which might be one of the reasons it's taking so long--figuring out a reasonably fair way is rather difficult. The event store idea seems like a decent one, or making them 'buildable' like the EI's, maybe? Then we could purchase the extra sets with the currency we would have been donating? I don't know. There are still two days left, since the extension, so hopefully we'll see some solution (or at least word) soon.

Knerd 06-02-2010 05:54 PM

Thank you for your feedback everyone, but things seem to be getting heated in here.
Everyone is allowed to have different opinions on what should or should not happen with this event. While you may disagree with another user, please do not demean their thoughts.

*Hime* 06-02-2010 06:30 PM

Well, if it's worth something... even with all the problems I think this is one of the best events I had here on Mene, so much fun!

Mine Kuramae 06-02-2010 07:11 PM

Sounds fun, if not slightly complicated. XD Go Sprockets!

YamiSora 06-02-2010 07:23 PM

woot woot!

Just wanted to say the event is great! ^^

Sensible Cricket 06-02-2010 07:33 PM

This isn't a hangout thread, and the staff have specifically asked that people not hang out and chat on this thread.

fuyumi_saito 06-02-2010 08:32 PM

I am so happy that the event has been extended. Thank you guys so much :D

Bunai 06-02-2010 08:33 PM

If Beta testing is necessary, then have people sign a NDA.
