Our school's IP address was banned once for some other avatar community, because so many people at school were going on from there ^^

pumibel 05-31-2010 09:37 PM

well I feel dumb if I go t that wrong ascadelia. I am sure I have more than one IP though- wonder how I did that?

Jeanie 05-31-2010 09:38 PM

K I don't know American abbreviations for their places so I got no idea what places you just said besides NY. :XD

Yeah it's not the computer's IP, it's the IP used to connect from the router/modem to the internet. Each computer has it's own IP address.

Alfons 05-31-2010 09:38 PM

He sent me a message that said something like that and Ode said she resented him.

Also I am from Netherlands.

pumibel 05-31-2010 09:38 PM

internet protocol- well that makes sense
where do they sell the dunce hat? Im actually a computer nerd so shame on me

Ode 05-31-2010 09:39 PM

Well then that just hurts my heart!

----------

that's not true...
every internet connection has an IP.
that's why when one person gets banned at a library, nobody else can access that website.
:(

Quantum Angel 05-31-2010 09:40 PM

The IP address is the ID assigned to the computer when you connect to the internet. Usually it changes whenever you connect - though part of it is always the same depending on your ISP, usually different computers will have a different IP address.

There are uncommon cases where internet providers will assign two computers in entirely different locations the same IP address - the satellite provider, HughesNet, has caused much confusion in the past due to this.

If you are not certain if your IP address is different from that of another computer you are using, then you can check it in various locations online.

Ode 05-31-2010 09:40 PM

phrank, how could you say such lies about me? This makes me sad.

pumibel 05-31-2010 09:40 PM

thanks Jeanie I feel better now. I dont mind being wrong, but I spent a lot on college you know? lol

The Roze 05-31-2010 09:40 PM

*getting muddled by all the computer talk*

Alfons 05-31-2010 09:41 PM

When phrank called you "prudes", you said you resented him?
Or at least that's what I thought...

My English, sorry. :(

Ode 05-31-2010 09:42 PM

My computer has a different IP to my mum's but when they go to internet they have the same one.

phrank 05-31-2010 09:42 PM

I told him that I'm disliked! I don't know where he got this idea about you!!!

Ode 05-31-2010 09:43 PM

Ahhh, I think I get it now, haha.

I said I resented the REMARK, and I was just kidding ^_^

Easy to make that mistake, though.

pumibel 05-31-2010 09:43 PM

i have more than one, but it may be the way I have the wireless set up. My router is a wired one, and I have it connected to my eMac (old I know), the Mac beams the wireless signal via the airport card to all my other computers. I think this is why I have more IP addresses, When my daughter tries to access the wifi with her Nin DSi, it will conflict with the Desktop Pc, but it doesnt really do much to the laptops

Jeanie 05-31-2010 09:44 PM

Our ISP changed our IP and I couldn't get on BBC iplayer for a week because they didn't update their database to include our new address and it kept saying I was outside the UK.

pumibel 05-31-2010 09:44 PM

Sorry Alfons! you are an individual entity, and I did not mean to offend you. I thought it was Phrank fooling around

----------

phrank 05-31-2010 09:46 PM

muleeloo 05-31-2010 09:46 PM

Ode 05-31-2010 09:46 PM
