It really just makes me ask one simple question. "Why?"
The message it sends isn't a positive one. "lolz let's hide the way things were and are! Just ignore it all! D:" |
But right now, it's one state versus 49.
I doubt the publishers will change just for Texas. HOwever, if other conservative states follow...ugggggggggggggggggghhhh. Americans really are dumb, trying to re-write history and shit. It's going to screw people over for the IB and AP tests. @[email protected] |
The problem is that if kids aren't taught that those things ever existed, it's unlikely they'll ever be able to rail against it. So we're going to raise a bunch of sheep. *sigh*
|
Hello everyone. How goes the event for you all so far?
|
Herro, Zade. The event goes well enough. We're rather slow around here. :)
|
Yeah. The "sheep" factor doesn't really go away unless the kid is already being raised by knowing parents or they go to a good college or something and get to learn more.
Let's just hope nothing happens and that other conservative states don't follow. Hi Zade! |
*crosses fingers*
Let's hope so. |
Hey Zade! :3
I'm just scared that others states WILL follow it. Texas is such a huge state, and if they can pass it...other smaller states might be able to do it too. X_x |
I'll brb!
|
Ahh yes it has been rather slow everywhere today. And with donations down still even slower it seems. But I am making my rounds to see what all is going on. It seems you were having a political conversation when I came in.
What is it Texas is trying to pass.. I live in Texas... |
Bye Chi! :3
@Zade: Yeap, ranting about Texas' stupid decision to attempt to rewrite history. |
Me too, Zade! They already passed it. Have you not seen the changes they're making to the history curriculum and textbook recommendations?
|
Haven't seen a change so what is it I missed. I have been out of school for a while now...so what stupid thing have we done this time..lol
|
They're replacing any teachings of Jefferson with Calvin, completely removing any talk about the separation of church and state. It's totally absurd.
|
Zade lives in Texas?
It's soooo dumb, goodness. I can't believe the people who actually managed to pass it. America really is going down the drain, my goodness. |
@ Steel... ahh well this should be a nice circus to watch go down. I see no reason that was something prudent to our childrens' education. And it will only cause issues with the less conservative population of the state in the long run. A very bad idea indeed in my personal opinion.
@ Winter... yes I am from Texas.. you know my Girlfriend Ivvy don't you? |
@Zade: Not really closely, but she has unique avatars. :3
I just can't believe they managed to pass it. I mean, really? Just wow. They really have some idiots up there. |
It's because Texas has this weird reactionary political environment.
Basically, our conservatives are liked well enough, but the second they feel threatened, they go insane. |
@ Winter.. ahh I see. I know she had mentioned your name once.
@ Steel... this is true. Our conservative people are dormant a lot but god forbid someone suggest something slightly liberal and they go into a feeding frenzy and pass all kinds of insane things to even the field in their eyes. |
Haha. Oh, I like you Zade. Luckily, I managed to find myself in a happy, fairly liberal city. Even if it does have a reputation and terrible health education.
|
Lol Why thank you. >.< I am in a small town and well its a bit conservative but we have a college here so its become a pretty good mix of view points.
|
Hrmm. Just a college or a university? (Sorry to pry...I live in College Station which kills me, but my parents live in Lubbock, which makes me happy).
|
Ahh KC I am in Kilgore.
|
Ah, nice...so a small college.
Nice. |
Yep. But its not so bad considering its a small town. The mix of people makes it more fun to be here in such a small place.
