yeah you get random items for posting I believe. Regardless of whether it's for your job or not.

you use the items to keep your machine working/ sabotage the other machine. There is an event FAQ, you might consider taking a moment to go read it.

you use the items to help with the cause. the Gasket or Sprocket HQ is the place to present those items and gain seeds for doing so

yes. seeds are what you'll trade for event items or for the ticket thingies you use in the commons store

I think seed ios what we need for the EI's so yeah collecting them is good.
