Yeah, I like watching fire, but the closest I ever got was, um, burning holes with a magnifying glass into leaves as a kid, I think. xD My friends and I were fascinated that we could harness sunlight like that, haha.

yes, magnifying glasses burning ants and leaves is quite fun. I think I used fire on art work once and I've danced around bonfires with x-mas trees on them and such before.

I know I've baked paper on occasion to get it nice and old looking, apart from the usual tea-staining. I suggested that to my sister one time when she needed a paper to look older, and she went "You sure do know how to counterfeit documents, don't you? :D" It was a funny idea to me because I learned that stuff back in elementary/middle school. XDD

Oh, speaking of tea-staining, that can make paper really fun to draw on! You should try it some time if you have some oolong or chai tea hanging around that you're not using. :>

bake it huh? in elementary school we used markers on this cream colored paper and a liquid that made it bleed and look old and faded. it was fun. that's when I learned to write backwards.

I stained newspapers with mint tea once! and then burnt them in the middle to make a background for an art journal. the newspaper article was about a fire! :D

Yeah, we baked it. I think if you tear the corners, it helps increase the edges getting super crispy and dark? Otherwise it makes it a really nice brown colour. And if you wrinkle it and smooth it out and wrinkle it again, it makes it look super old. xD I wonder what the pen was that you guys used. :o

Oh wow, that's neat. :D I used an herbal team one time to see how it would stain. It produced a pretty red-purple tea, but it didn't stain that well. I made a pencil drawing I really liked with chai-tea-stained paper, though. It's one of the few things I did last year I still like. xD

I wonder if my mom would frown upon me burning things in the oven.....I have some bake-able clay figures to put in too.

oh man! I bet the blueberry tea I have would make a famous color! I wonder if green tea stains well....I think I need to play around with this stuff some.

There was one clay figure I baked in the oven. I threw it away a few months ago, though, It was kinda a safety hazard. *had lots of sharp point metal everywhere, oh, 3-D design class, you were painful xD* It kind of smelled weird baking, I wonder if there are clays that bake with a nicer smell? But paper only takes a few minutes, honestly. You just have to watch it so you don't start a fire in the oven. ^^;

I don't know how green tea would work, unless you had the actual Asian powdered variety, it usually ends up a yellow colour, no? It might make a nice light stain. Oh, blueberry would be good too. D: This reminds me I need to spray fixative on my one drawing. >>

oh man, I'm so distracted by the cat next to me!!

sharp points? that sounds amazing! like the art one of my friends did in high school she made a burnt torso with nails and giant staple looking things coming out of a crack in the back. it was done in a fire pit kiln. totally awesome.
I don't know if the clays I have smell. I haven't baked them yet.

the only green tea i've had was quite green.
ack, spray fixative? I need that stuff!! I heard hair spray works too but it wrinkles the paper some.

Kitty! :D

I had used this metal mesh screen and wire to make a basic skeleton for the figure blob thing, and used some of the metal screen for 'hair'. It was neat, because there were parts all over the figure where the mesh showed through the clay. :D; Oh wow, a fire pit kiln! That sounds like it was a lot of fun for her to make. The clay I used didn't have a strong smell, it just wasn't something I liked.

Hm, really? Most I have are a pale yellow (possibly yellow-green) colour. The only 'green' green tea I had was when I attended a tea ceremony in Japan. D:

Well, spray fixative can wrinkle it, too, but that probably only happens with either spray when you use too much, since it is basically a liquid. I know with the one I have they warn not to spray a lot in one area, because it might make the media run. It just smells to high heaven and isn't that good for asthmatics like me. xD I always confounded my one drawing teacher because I typically refused to spray adhere my charcoal anatomy drawings (most went straight into the trash anyways).

she keeps laying on my pencils so I can't draw....

that sounds so epic!! I love wire and it looks cool when burnt!

a fire pit is literally a pit in the ground that they put the clay in and burn. its similar to a racoo kiln which they did in an old oil drum and you can put different things like hair or sawdust that stain the clay different colors. they did this outside our art room at high school. the band people stared...

I got the tea as part of a presentation for a japanese class I took my first semester. I didn't like it.

I think the problem with my hair spray is that it can't come out even so it always goes on too thick in areas.

Oi, what is with all the phone calls tonight? I spent a good hour taking a call from the father of one of my friends (who lives over 800 miles away from me) asking about trucking. O.o;

Mine always like to attack my brushes and water when I try to do watercolours. >>

Hm, the wire didn't really burn, I guess I just had it in there long enough for the clay to harden. xD

Yeah, I've heard of those. :3 Haha, I'm surprised they let you guys do that at high school, but then I think the public school system in my county/state are kinda stingy and paranoid about the art kids. xDD

Most people don't actually like it. I know my friend with me told me to have her tea when she saw I had finished mine. XD I'm used to bitter drinks, so I thought it was neat.

Ah, yeah, that would definitely be a problem. D: Maybe not so much with pencil, but charcoal and wet conditions are not a good mix!

Dimitri: That is kind of weird. I guess they all thought of auto problems and went "I KNOW WHO TO CALL! GHOSTBUSTERS DIMITRI!" xD

@Sarasvati:  No, I mean about professional truck driving. Being a trucker. Big rigs. Tractor-trailers. That's what I did before the job I have now.

By the way, have you guys seen the event profession items in the event shop? The gold prices on the items are hilarious!

hey dimi! the items are in the shop?

I'm kinda surprised the let us burn things at school too but my high school has gone down the drain since i left. guns and car bomb galore.

yeah, I prefer sweet drinks. I dreamed about melting a bowl of chocolate...

yeah, it was charcoal I was using it on. I love charcoals.

Dimitri: Ooh, you drove big rigs before? Wow, you've done quite a bit! :O My brother's a truck driver right now, although he's trying to get a trucking job that's in-town so he can be with his family more.

I think they said they were temporarily down until they fixed the sell-back problem? XDD But yes, I loved how one of the items was a 100 million gold. Gasket was more expensive, too, I think the admins are biased. ;D

See you, Zack. :> You're welcome to chat around if you want, though, you don't have to just lurk.

Kat: They must have trusted you guys at that point. Not cool about what's gone on since you left, though. I remember in eleventh grade, we lost so much class time due to idiots calling in bomb threats. >_< One time we were stuck for hours in the cold and then had to wait for buses to take us home, it was so ridiculous.

Yeah, if you prefer sweet drinks, then o-cha probably was not what you were wanting in a tea. xD Although they gave us a little red-bean paste dumpling thing, so it kind of took the bite out of the bitterness once we ate that.

@Kat: Just the event profession rares. The shovels, wrenches, and the hammers for both teams. They're on the last page at the end of the list of event commons.

@Sarasvati: Meh, I heard that they pretty much gave up trying to fix the problem and just put the items in the event shop so everybody has the chance to get them.

Dimitri: I think Ferra (?) said they were going to temporarily freeze the sell-back on event items, because after the event they'll have no value. xD

Kat: What! More lotus pins?

I really like the event commons this time around, steampunk is definitely one of my favorite things. But I don't think I can even get a whole set and I don't know if I want to spend gold right away. A dilemma!
